My only issue is how your parts don't really blend with the stock parts, or even really that well within your parts (for example: the white cockpits and fuselages vs. the silver-grey engine nacelles). the engine heating effects are awesome btw
Nothing a little warning tape and corrugated iron can't fix, right? And about those heating effects, IMHO I kinda think the dark red engines eventually glow at is a bit closer to a cool red than a glowing red. As in the engines look like they go from warm to hot to very hot to warm again.
Why, hello C7. I do believe I'm one of your biggest fans, as spaceplanes are more my thing, rather than rockets.
-awesome c7 stuff-
Why, hello C7. I do believe I'm one of your biggest fans, as spaceplanes are more my thing, rather than rockets. Thanks for making some great parts!
Add some canards, bro
You and Pilotguy97 were right, thanks. Btw, thanks scratch (nl) for the idea :v: I want to add some kind of ejection mechanism to it
Hello there! I've been following this thread for quite some time, but this is the first post that I've made on Face Punch. I just wanted to say a few things. I'm well aware of what you think of my work. Frankly, I understand why you don't like it. I'm not very happy with it either... I made those parts for fun a long time ago, and put them together as quickly as possible to test to see if I could make things work in the game. I never intended them to be used as official parts, and I didn't plan to make them perfectly mesh with the game's art style either. So yes, they don't match. Yes, they are quickly constructed and poorly textured. The normal maps are simply based on image processed versions of the diffuse maps. (The shader Mu made is excellent, as I'm sure you'll find out) It was the epitome of a rush job. I'm not proud of them, and I would much rather of not released them at all. They are there as a simple placeholder for the SpacePlane parts. I'll be going through and steadily removing them and replacing them with parts specifically designed for KSP. They will have properly crafted, hi-res normal maps, and correctly constructed meshes / colliders. I don't take offense at you not liking my work, but if you are going to criticize it, I would appreciate constructive feedback or advice. Saying something is "god damn awful" is not helpful to anyone. The reason the parts have the "lumpy" effect is due to the normal map processing. It perceives shading in the part as a change in elevation. Ideally you would not base normal maps off of a diffuse map at all. Instead I would create a heightmap specifically for the part and convert that instead. Or preferably I would bake out the normal maps from a higher polygon model. This is something I fully intend to correct and replace on the parts.
Ah, I see. I do like the parts themselves though if you thought I didnt :v:, it's just that the normal maps ain't looking so well as of now, but seeing you want to improve that is great! [editline]18th May 2012[/editline] I landed the Horizon! it was very tricky since it got unbalanced when using much fuel, so it keps tilting forward and generating horizontal speed, but using RCS and not burning full throttle it slowly landed. The parachutes will be useless since it doesn't have enough fuel left. [editline]18th May 2012[/editline] and of course KSP crashes without saving, making ending it up just before landing, and I of course fail landing [editline]18th May 2012[/editline] there we go, I closed the game and landed again, this time succesfully. [editline]18th May 2012[/editline]
You and Pilotguy97 were right, thanks.
This weekend I'll be posting a few tutorials to celebrate the release of .15. The first one I'm doing is a tutorial on using the hangar, making planes, and using the new controls in this update. Then I'm going to do a series of modding tutorials, that will cover the new part tools and code features. Hopefully they'll be done sunday. In the meantime, these links have just been moved to be public. I know you were asking about them CBBP. http://kerbalspaceprogram.com/forum/index.php?topic=11795.0 http://kerbalspaceprogram.com/forum/index.php?topic=11734.0 Also, yea I don't like the blending either. Its one of the things I want to fix when the parts are redone.
While you are viewing the thread, do you have any idea what is causing these graphical glitches? The seem to be only happening with the new model formats.
While you are viewing the thread, do you have any idea what is causing these graphical glitches? The seem to be only happening with the new model formats.
Its very odd to be sure.. It seems to be dropping triangles. We've never seen anything like this in testing. But my suspicion is that the files are corrupt somehow. Perhaps you could try re-installing the game. If you don't mind, can you send me a "dxdiag" log from your computer and any relevant information possible. Ie (type of computer, OS, Graphics card type, driver version, etc) in a PM.

Also, is there any way to not remove debris while doing another flight? I kinda want my failed experiments to remain where they crashed :v: This for example, I managed to save my pilots while flying on solid boosters
I'm sure I'm not the first that has seen this arch: [thumb]http://i.imgur.com/ylXXi.jpg[/thumb] Saw something on the surface while orbiting the moon and decided to check it out. Had a long break from KSP after I played it to death before, didn't visit this thread a lot for some time, so someone may have found this arch before. [editline]18th May 2012[/editline]
Awesome rover
Link to that rover?
Is it possible to rotate stuff that's attached on your rocket?
Is it possible to rotate stuff that's attached on your rocket?
You mean when in the hangar or VAB? WASD + QE. Otherwise there may be some plugin with rotating parts.

I can understand a rush job. Look at Kosmos' UV mapping. terrible :D hope you arn't too disheartened. Talked to C7. he alludes to the more replacement parts being inspired by Burt Rutan. And a more unified part theme so we should start to see some interesting parts for planes. :D
Just started playing this game again after taking a break and wow, so many new features! The planes are ridiculously fun, yet only one of mine has made it off the ground.
:D someone used KOSMOS for space planes.
After climbing a 4.6km high mountain, I was greeted by this sight: "hom" also rover link http://kerbalspaceprogram.com/forum/index.php?topic=8431.0 my one has Ceres solar panels and a couple of Probodobodyne bits on it.
Command Pod Mk1 splashed down hard and was destroyed. I was driving at 10 meters/sec after a succesful landing. Really. [editline]18th May 2012[/editline] Also, jet engines need reverse function, there's no way to slow down after you land :v:

Your best shot at the moment is retro-rockets, drag chutes, or just creating a lot of drag.
Yes. My first succesful plane.
Am I the only one that has to launch planes off the end of the runway in order to get them off the ground? I have yet to make a plane that can actually take off on its own.
Am I the only one that has to launch planes off the end of the runway in order to get them off the ground? I have yet to make a plane that can actually take off on its own.
Apply more thrust.
is it hard driving a rover in such a low gravity?
If I rotate wings backwards, do they make negative lift? I have a real hankerin' for some foward swept wings, but I think my plane handles a tad funky with the more oddly angled bits on it.
jezus christ that ain't a plane anymore :v: [editline]18th May 2012[/editline] Also, the most problematic thing when trying to reach minmus probably is the mun, I can just imagine you being captured by it while in orbit to minmus

And yes, that is 15 engines you see.
Oh yeah, press B for wheel brakes.
I landed!
