yeah, I don't really care too much for it either, I generally prefer new, unestablished servers when I first join then ones with cities and constructs already built.
And the Pixel Art is large and gets in the way of things.
Personally I don't find it that hard to just walk for a bit to avoid the pixel art, but I see your concern and will give feedback to the owner so that people can keep their pixels in their own areas. I do hope he accepts the feedback though.

Try Profan's server. It's in the process of a map reset right now, but once it gets up and running again it's a good server.

I prefer Goose's Faction Server. It's pretty nice, it allows destruction, it's not serious, and it's not modified a lot beyond the Factions plugin.
The Yogventures thing sounds cool but I'm not entirely interested in something similar to Garry's Mod. What I liked about minecraft that Garry's Mod was missing was challenge and having to work for resources, which if you can effortlessly make mountains then it doesn't sound like that's part of the game.
