Put any solid block above the tnt, and the pressure plate on that.
That doesn't work the same, though. In previous versions, I could create an effective minefield for mobs whereby I create a 3-4 unit deep ditch, bottom block being water, and the top being TNT and the pressure plate. The mob would trigger it, fall in the inescapable hole, and get blown up, with the water preventing unsightly terrain damage.
I love thaumcraft. Now I can properly pollute!
Seriously, what can you do with this mod? Checking it out and reading the documentation, it's just a long, complicated process of turning magic in the air into wands or charms.
Basically the yogscast have hired a proper indie game team to make a game similar to minecraft but with a lot more features. Its called "Yogventures" and I think this is going to go very well. Have a look at some of the features: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/winterkewlgames/yogventures
Just a bit of information about this, but although the $15 pledge promises access to the beta on steam, they have not actually contacted steam at all, and don't even know if their game will be on steam, so they're basically promising something they can't guarantee at all.
Don't act like the yogscast haven't bullshited people before.

mojang really needs to fix the account migration thing.

For those who have no idea what this is about, sp614x is the guy behind the mod OptiFine, and he is apparently working on combining his Multi-Core and Anti-Aliasing editions of OptiFine.
Look at the gwaphics
Honestly, the game is very... Abstract. Let's hope that changes, or nobody's going to have any idea what's going on... Sort of like that Minecraft clone the Yogscast reviewed before.

Guise! I totally, like, discovered an awesome seed. You spawn underground, and once you make your way out, you can see a sand pit and this epic waterfall. The seed is: gargamel :v: [sp]This post was done in irony. RIP gargamel[/sp]
So I'm building stuff in a frozen lake on my server (no, you may not have the IP. Go away). Trying to figure out how to build a tree farm down there. Here's about where I'm planning on setting it up: [t]http://img841.imageshack.us/img841/1863/20120407173939.png[/t] [t]http://img191.imageshack.us/img191/7631/20120407173955.png[/t] According to the wiki page on trees, saplings can overwrite glass (which I plan to use a lot of) and other blocks with their leaves when they grow. Are there any general guidelines on keeping trees from eating one's glass (and other blocks)? [editline]Never![/editline] Here's what I've built so far, for those who are curious: [t]http://img32.imageshack.us/img32/1403/20120407175757.png[/t] [t]http://img217.imageshack.us/img217/410/20120407175819.png[/t] It's a pumpkin farm (that is currently under attack by squid raiders who are trying to steal the pumpkins and failing miserably because of the squid-proof doors). I'm planning on building the tree farm in similar fashion to this pumpkin farm, though I'm hesitant to use a glass roof because of trees alleged ability to consume glass. Oh, and the texture pack is RetroNES by befarrar.

Burn it.

Anyone know of any good mappers that work with the new map format?
Put the glass out of range. Not hard to make a high roof.
It is if it's under a layer of ice that's only nine blocks up from the riverbed. And the idea is to keep the trees' trunks no taller than 6 blocks, so the ceiling will only be 9 blocks up (at most). Aaaaand I just realized that the planned ceiling's height level and the level of the ice coincide. Would the trees stay under the ice if I used it as the ceiling? [editline]Why?[/editline] How far is out of range? If a tree eats some glass and water leaks in, it'll wreck everything, so I need to do this right. I'm thinking I should just forget about using glass and just use cobblestone...
Is there a mod that allows you to generate Beta or Alpha maps?
You act like the MC Forums is a terrible place to be avoided at all costs. I believe that, too, but it's pretty much where all the mods are at. http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/995672-123-generator-ports-finally-updated-to-123-125-is-still-in-the-works/

With birch and pine this is further simplified because they don't branch, so a ceiling height of 12-14 and a space 5-wide by how-ever long is more than enough for a tree farm.
