One good feature for big servers would be location-based chatting, as in you can only hear people who aren't too far away from you. Having some kind of private chatting feature for long distance could work, or maybe people could make postage systems with chest minecarts and writable books and write letters to each other

You asked how to turn off the block highlighting, pressing F1 does that.
You didn't say anything about leaving the rest of the GUI on, which is fine if you don't already know about F1, but if you did then you should think that it is likely someone would mention F1 doing that, so you should've specifically said you want the block highlighting off, while leaving the rest of the GUI on.
To answer your question in full, there's no way to turn the block highlighting off alone, without using mods, and I haven't ever seen any existing mods that do it. However, the code for the outlines should be in Renderglobal.java,[sup][url=http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/1104134-123-block-outline-color/][1][/url][/sup] so if you know any java you could make a mod yourself.
It's pretty obvious he wanted the HUD to stay even if he didn't explicitly say so.

ill look into modding it, sounds simple enough since the code to turn it off is already there.

That would actually be a good mechanic for a horror game. A weeping-angel-173 type enemy that doesnt move, but when you're in your inventory, you can see it move and face you out of the corner of your eyes.

Better. When you open your inventory it starts slowly moving towards you then when you close it, it stops.

Anyone else have problems where rain doesn't collide with blocks in extreme hills biomes. The rain stops when it hits blocks but has no rain splash particles or sound in the biome.
So I found out how to go back to the Survival Test 0.30, It works and all, there is just no sound. Anyone know how to fix this?

I believe there was much discussion then things were made clear as to "future versions" meaning on the PC. XBox is a separate platform and somehow loopholes the system. I may be wrong but this is how I view it.

No, it's because Minecraft for Xbox is made for a different company and I don't think that company would appreciate losing around 75% of potential profit.
Really, Notch should've added the word "PC versions" into that sentence.
