I've never downloaded snapshots(which I just figured out is possibe. Up until now I thought they were just sneak peaks at things to come). When could I expect these snapshots to be in the game? I know they haven't (Jeb, Notch) given an estimated date, but could anyone throw a guess out?

How long does it take to destroy the ender chest?
Is it just like obsidian?
I'm guessing it takes a long while to break, otherwise its just like having extra inventory space.

This version in particular (1.3) will take quite a while. It's a complete change under the hood more or less. I'd estimate a month at minimum and maybe 2 at maximum?

The fact enderchests are server-wide greatly lessens their usefulness in multiplayer.

Just got back into this with the intention of making a mad Sorcerer living in a mountaintop fortress, tried using "Dol Guldur" as a seed, and got... A large hill as a spawn location with a large sea on one side and some dense forests around the others.
Dol Guldur is the name of the fortress of The Necromancer (Sauron) in the Lord of the Rings, which was noted to be located on a large hill in the middle of the dense forests of Mirkwood. Love it when a seed reflects the location.

I wouldn't worry about it too much on multiplayer, unless your friends are dicks.
It sounds really useful on singleplayer, though.
I feel like instead of adding good mod support mojang is just going to slowly add all the good mods to minecraft

Good else servers like 2b2t would be pretty much ruined because no one would ever lose anything valuable, and it's not a very expensive item to build.
So essentially this new chest is like an internal dropbox for minecraft.
Very useful, so no need to run items to other player's homes, but instead just have them craft the chest, and drop what they want in it. Night time trading is now very safe.

I like only having one. I like the idea of people being able to donate to a 'starter box' on SMP servers without running too far from home to put something in.
