Unzip the Minecraft jar with a program like WinRAR, delete all the class files in the extracted folder, then all the pngs used for textures will become easy to find.

You do as fedora said, but instead keep everything in an extracted folder in texturepacks, if you edit a texture and press F3+T with the folder selected it reloads it for easy editing.

They removed the live searching. You now have to click on the tab to search.
But, all potions are now in the potions tab.
There is a delete box for the creative inventory.
Selected tab is saved when you close the inventory so when you open it again, it's the one selected.
You can now craft in the creative inventory.

Shift clicking an item now deletes it.
Shift clicking the X deletes everything in your inventory.
I didn't like it when you had to press escape to leave the inventory rather than to press the inventory key again.
Does that picture with the cobble structure hint to another generated ruins like thing?
Adventure gamemode just removes your ability to place or destroy blocks. You can still "place" non-block things like mob eggs, but non-block items that place a block (redstone/repeater, string) is still blocked.
Basically, adventure map mode.
Also you can place string on top of water if there's a wall nearby, like lilly pads. That's amusing.

Also tripwires are fun as hell.
Neat little thing about them - you don't activate them if you're walking on the tripwire block. It only triggers from the string block.
