Modpacks are terrible, the only thing they're good for is making sure each item has it's own ID.
Also good for running servers without burying your friends under a download list they might install wrong
Also good for running servers without burying your friends under a download list they might install wrong
Which is why you put something together for just your friends and don't release it to the general public so that they can install it simply and fast. E.g. Put all the mod files in a zip and then give them the zip to drag and drop.
You'll never get to ride around on a pig if you do that. [editline]10th June 2012[/editline] And that makes it worth it.
He should make saddles useful: Horses spawn and you can ride around on them? Idk, just brainstorming.
Kinda miss that Sheeper mod now. Back in the 1.6 Beta days, one could encounter a sheep. It wasn't just any sheep. You could punch it for wool, but it'll turn around, reveal a Creeper's face, hiss, and expand before blowing up. Successfully killing a Sheeper yielded Gunpowder, as usual. Failure to do so leaves a hole in the ground, with your previous items in it.
He should make saddles useful: Horses spawn and you can ride around on them? Idk, just brainstorming.
Horses require to many shapes and kinda ruin minecrafts simplicity with the mobs (Other than the enderdragon) in my opinion.
Horses require to many shapes and kinda ruin minecrafts simplicity with the mobs (Other than the enderdragon) in my opinion.
I don't think horses are too complex in terms of models. For instance, a spider has 11 cubic body parts, a horse made well would have around 8 or 9 depending on whether the artist wanted to add tails or manes. Some people will argue that horses "kill the vibe", and maybe that's true. Surely I'd like controllable pigs and spiders while on saddles first, and then have horses be a higher tier mountable animal.
IIRC you can get a saddle from npc trading
I just checked and indeed you can, from Butchers. However, I tend to kill the butchers because they push me around a lot.
Finished the Inn. [t]http://puu.sh/Af7h[/t] What should I build next?
An Out. No really, make the outside look as good as that building.

I want to play minecraft, but I have no world and keep getting bored when I start one. I installed a load of mods (the main ones, EE, IC2, Red Power, buildcraft etc) but they take a while to get to being able to build. I get bored before I get to the interesting parts. First world problems :(
Welcome fellow Direwolf fan.
All hail DW!

I did it for several mods, problem is a lot of people said i ruined the game and the thread got flamed so I closed it all down.
About the pigs/saddles/horses: I think there should be an enchantment for saddles, saddle of control I, saddle of control II, and saddle of control III. control 1 being a rather low level needed, and control 3 being a very high level needed. Control 1 lets you control the pig wearing the saddle, they will run faster than a player, but slower than a sprinting player. Control 2 allows you to ride chickens and cows. Cows act the same as pigs but are bigger and have more health. Chickens will run at the same speed as a walking player, and they can glide off hills, negating fall damage, they also have the lowest health. Control 3 allows you to ride spiders, as soon as you put the saddle on the spider it will be friendly. It will run at the same speed as pigs and cows, and it can crawl up walls. It has a high health similar to cows. All saddled animals can have their health replenished with apples. Maybe there can be a new whip tool(or simply string) that allows you to right click saddled animals, which will switch there state between "roam" which is the basic walking around freely, "follow" which acts the same as wolves following you, and "sit" which again is like a wolf sitting. Or only allow them to switch between follow and sit to make it simple and more like wolves. Animals with saddles can breed normally with wheat. Maybe even make it so tame spiders can be bred with zombie flesh, making a tame spider baby, it wont attack players, and as an adult it can be saddled with a control 2 saddle instead of needing control 3. EDIT I posted this on reddit, because I know Jeb looks at the minecraft reddit sometimes, and even gets some ideas from it, so maybe this will make it more popular.

What?
I can't help but notice that you seem to have gone ut of your way to make sure that all of them are slower than a sprinting player. Why?
Could someone link me some good mods that aren't too "intense"? So far, I got ExtraBiomesXL, Thaumcraft 2 and Better Dungeons. I've been playing with Direwolf's mods, yet I would like to make a separate install for these types of mods.
Riding chickens? What?
Don't underestimate the RAW POWER of chickens. Or it could also just be strapping them to your head with a saddle harness.
I can't help but notice that you seem to have gone ut of your way to make sure that all of them are slower than a sprinting player. Why?
To be more balanced. This way if someone without a mount gets caught by someone with a mount, they can get away briefly, but eventually they'll have to slow down and eat, allowing for the mounted player to catch up with them. And riding a mount uses no, or at least a lot less hunger than sprinting, so you can ride them without stopping.

If taming an animal requires enchanting, catching, and keeping an animal, I would think that the higher tier animals would move faster than a sprinting player by far. If a player can sprint faster than all the animal mounts, there's no reason to even have mounts because food is easy to get. In my opinion, the mountable animals should only include pigs, cows, spiders and some other new mob. The pig would be slower than sprinting but not take hunger up; Of course it would have low health. If sprinting players can out run an animal, animals prove worthless as mounts because, honestly, unless you just started the game, you have tons of food as it is. Truly a work of inspiration.
If anyone's played that adventure map "Trial of the Minemasons" Do you know what you're supposed to do with the button at the top of the ender pearl puzzle at the beginning?
I just want chocobos ): or a giant ostrich.
Mo' Creatures has ostriches that are rideable.
Mo' Creatures has ostriches that are rideable.
But then you got all that hassle of naming them and all that. What we need are some biome-specific creatures, something like a pterodactyl on mountaintops or dolphins in the ocean. The pterodactyl can go slightly slower than a sprinter since they can fly. Dolphins go faster than boats. Why pterodactyls? Same reason you chew Big Red.
You can't right now. Even though ugocraft doesn't modify any baseclasses, it its depended on ModloaderMP. Since Forge has been incompatible with ModLoaderMP since the introduction of Forge Modloader, the only way right now is downgrade your forge to a version that doesn't have it, and you'll probably have to downgrade Redpower aswell then. I am trying to make a version that doesn't use ModloaderMP though.
Actually, Modloadermp pretty much works with Forge. At the time of this post, I have tested and it worked. I used Modloader 1.2.5 (Obviously..!), ModloaderMP v1 1.2.5 and minecraftforge-client-3.1.3.105. They all work together. Idk what your problem is if Forge and Modloadermp don't work. But if you use all those, they should work.

I recommend that you only use Forge or ModLoader, not both together. Eclipse gave me 1379 odd errors following a decompile because of duplication and bad arrays.
Is ElpisHost stopping hosting minecraft servers? I'm trying to get one now, but when I do, it goes to the cart, which has no options for billing or any of it's plans. But if I go to Source servers, it's fine with those.
