I actually somehow made the ones I wanted work, then I realized the weapons from Balkon's weapon mod were stupid and I didn't want it. Oh well. Also: Thoughts on Equivalent Exchange? I've heard it makes it a lot easier to get diamonds, but not REALLY easy.
[editline]29th June 2012[/editline]
Yeah nevermind, I just looked at everything that goes into it. Too much trouble, would rather just put the time into getting diamonds the real way.
32 seems high for a canned food product. And according to http://www.solarstorms.org/Sradiation.html 450 rads has a high chance of flat out death. Also it should be possible for rads to decrease slowly over time because the body can naturally deal with small amounts of radiation. Would also be cool if there were certain places that were highly irradiated that you should avoid because they quickly cause death. Of course Minecraft isn't a bastion of realism.
My goal isn't to be realistic, but to be challenging. Wikipedia also says otherwise:
Doses of 200 to 1,000 rad delivered in a few hours will cause serious illness with poor outlook at the upper end of the range. Doses of more than 1,000 rad are almost invariably fatal.
Yes, there will be food that applies almost no rads, if not 0, but there will be very few of them, and they'll mostly be grown products. Also, yes, I'm hoping to have "Radiation Biomes" that apply radiation when you stand in them.

I don't want to sound argumentative, but Wikipedia doesn't say "otherwise", it says exact what I said but in a different way - 450 rads is a lot and has a chance of death. However, death isn't instant except at very high levels, as in far over 1000.
Well, as I said, it will be a balance issue until tested with actual players over a large period of time. Should a GUI show the rad levels of a player or should that be left to assumption as it would be in real life?

Maybe allow the player to create or find a rad counter, with it being used similarly to a clock in the interface?

Was going to try doing something along those lines. One more thing. With most injectable drugs, the syringe is reusable. Is it too much to add a possibility of getting diseases from dirty needles like HIV, thus adding an incentive to "craft" or find clean needles instead?
I think I want to move. Time to sail off into the sunset with everything important that I can carry.
So, basically I've decided to add a few mystery diseases into the game. Each can be caught from a variety of activities, and I won't list them fully because you can diagnose for yourselves.
[editline]29th June 2012[/editline]
Also, since I am a bad texture artist, anyone who wants to try their hand at a few of the items is fully obliged to volunteer for the job.
This server sounds like a great idea Lori. I'd be glad to help you with anything you need. Hit me up on steam or PM me, I can help with whatever.
Yeeeeaah, nevermind, went 3200 degrees south and found no interesting terrain. I'll just go back to living in my cave/cottage hybrid in a snow biome.
[editline]29th June 2012[/editline]
Remember Gargamel? And Glacier?
Such good seeds. Such interesting terrain. I wish they were still usable. :(

I'll give some a go. I'm okay at pixel art.
What are some of the things you need done?

As far as I know, John is giving them a try. You might want to talk to him about sharing the load because it's a quite large collection of items.

Would you mind PMing me a list of them anyway, even if he doesn't want help? I'd like to just have a list of interesting things to practice with.

Please help, this is a huuuge fucking list of shit that needs to get done.
Please help, this is a huuuge fucking list of shit that needs to get done.
Alright, cool. I'll help.
I'd like to help as well.
As would I.
Alright, all you fuckers should help, I've got all the ammunition and food/supplies done already.
Send us a list of what to do and we'll do it.
When I was searching for a mod for minecraft I came across this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Minecraft-PC-Game-on-CD-for-Windows-Mine-Mini-Craft-Minicraft-/110899684687?pt=UK_PC_Video_Games_Video_Games_JS&hash=item19d222e54f#ht_2439wt_1139
How do they get away with selling pirated "offline version" of a client that's free to download?
I'll make it easier to deal with then and post it here. If you want to help make textures this is what you have to do:
• Download the .txt list file: https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B7g6DHYCy2K-YkFOaWI4VFNYZkk/edit
Basically the list works in index form. Each 16x16 pixel square is an index starting at the top left corner and moving left to right and up and down, like reading a book in English. So for instance, the first item is listed as ".357 Magnum" and its position is numbered "0', so it's the first 16x16 square. The second would be labelled "1" and be 16 to the right. Look at the terrain.png for explanation. I'd recommend different people work on different items so as to not work on something for no reason.
I don't know personally how it works, but if you've done a 32x32 texture pack, I think the detail is much needed, but it still needs to format like the terrain.png, so just make sure everyone who works on that knows how to do 32x32 and such. If you can make a .32 Magnum Revolver in 16x16, be my guest.
Alright Flak and I are speeding through all the melee weapons, we're done with most of them. Moving on to weapons next.
Well Lori, you started a community project now :v: I hope this turns out how you plan, seems like a great idea. I would help but im not good with Pixel art or texturing :L

We've been doing it in 16x16 and neither of us can do 32x32 so it's stuck to 16x16 now.
Alright so Lori just informed us we're supposed to do this in 32x32. Problem is we've already done a bunch in 16x16 and Idk how to even start with 32x.
Oh, also forgot to mention that armour textures are also needed, the actual texture that appears on the player. If you look in the armors folder in your minecraft.jar, you'll see two images per armour, that's how they work.
So Diamond has a diamond_1.png and diamond_2.png.
If anyone has the skills to tackle armour, the list isn't too bad, but it's still work:
clothing_1, clothing_2: Should look like a duster and hat with generic pants and boots. Nothing special.
leather_1, leather_2: Think of the leather outfit that guy wears in Mad Max.
metal_1, metal_2: Think of strewn together metal pieces into armour.
hardleather_1, hardleather_2: Hardened version of the leather with metal patchwork.
police_1, police_2: Some military grade police wear. Think dystopian society. Not high tech or anything like that though.
flak_1, flak_2: A bullet proof vest and clothing collection.
hardmetal_1, hardmetal_2: Hardened version of the metal armour. Use your imagination.
military_1, military_2: Some kind of heavy military gear. If you want inspiration, look at BoS guys from Fallout. Just inspiration.

That's fine, everyone is doing and can only do 16x16, so that works out for the best.
I don't even know how 32x32 works in the code, so that works out.
To anyone doing armor, I call Flak. :v:
[editline]29th June 2012[/editline]
If you're going to do textures for it, PM me and I'll send you a link to what we've done. It's a Google Docs thing that we've been editing so we know what's done and who's done it.
I noticed something weird today, cacti have a texture for their bottoms even though it's very rare to see their bottoms, since they can only be placed on sand and other cactus blocks. Yet melons and pumpkins use the top texture as their bottom texture even though you can see their bottoms more regularly, since they can be placed like normal blocks.
