It know dozens of people have asked before but I'm trying to set up a Hamachi server for me and my buddy to play on, but he can't connect, while I can. I've set up the server properly, and triple checked the IP is correct in the server properties but he, nor anyone else, seems able to connect.
Any help?

Make sure the server is in offline mode, and make sure they are connected to your hamachi group.
Made a very simple receding cauldron trapdoor.

Set it to offline mode but they're still getting Connection Timed Out.
Apparently, mobs won't try to get out of cauldrons if you simply put a hatch above it. This is on creative, though, so I don't know if it works with hostile mobs.

You can use this for chicken coops. If you walk along the side of the cauldron, you can collect the eggs. No more screwing around with areas full of chickens.

If anyone's bored, I suggest trying a singleplayer save on Hardcore Mode. It really is a lot more interesting to explore alone, with the reality that if you screw up, you're dead.
My goals on the save is to reach the End and take the egg, build a monorail system, etc. Most importantly, I'm taking a leaf from Kurtjmac's book - no sleeping unless I find a village.
It's actually really fun and interesting.
Doing good now that I have loads of trees, still haven't found any huge biomes, so I'm stuck here.

I've used fences around water and then the water leading to a collection point, but this is much better
anybody know of an actual roleplay server?

The only ones that would refer to slimes as Hipo, would be the players that are subscribed to the commentator slyfoxhound, the hardcore fans of his.
Basically, the guy found a small slime that started following him, bonded to the slime and gave it the name Hipo, he has an entire series dedicated to finding another one.

Slimes are actually decomposed-to-the-point-of-liquification hippos that were mutated by the radioactivity of redstone underground
