The ammo will be costly since it launches the actual Fire Axe weapons, but they'll be retrievable if you miss.
That's amazing, you are a god to me now. Let me know if theres absolutely anything else you need me to do for the server.
hoo boy, shaders!
Why does nobody like Minecraft without any mods? It's pure PvP survival. No one can escape death by /home or /respawn, only by disconnecting and you get a second to kill them as they move the mouse down to hit 'disconnect'. You have to keep track of where you go instead of simply typing /home if you get lost. I can run a server without mods but I need to know if anyone is willing to play. (I won't advocate my server, just PM me if you want the details) Is it the very fact that pure Minecraft is too hard for you to play? It would explain why 100% of the servers have bukkit.

is their a mod for city biomes? like full on stone/cobblestone cities? I know it's breaking the theme a bit but surely their must be a mod.

Otherwise, I don't like Minecraft without any mods because the game's content is currently organised in such a way that everything is accessible within 1 hour of starting, and then all element of challenge or goal is lost. I don't enjoy Minecraft for building beautiful structures, I enjoy Minecraft for the journey to building said structures, a journey which is too short.

It's entirely possible to not have everything accessible within 1 hour of starting if you're a bit ambitious. No, I don't mean something like 'collect a thousand diamonds', that's frustratingly boring.
i love being able to do that, have all the resources i could ever need within 1 hour of play. allows me to build or adventure without having to gather resources every 10 minutes.
I use a ton of mods because I like still being able to discover new things, go new places, connect things together to make something really nice. I don't build in Minecraft. I use a 3x3 home the entire game. They're all connected everywhere by a fuckhuge system of tunnels.
The 1 Emerald for 5 arrows trade option is horribly unbalanced.
The 1 Emerald for 5 arrows trade option is horribly unbalanced.
Does the game reference a list of pre-determined trades or do the villagers just make shit up? Because I've seen some pretty arbitrary trades. The blacksmith offered me 7 emeralds for an iron sword and 12 emeralds for a diamond sword, which I thought was kind of odd.
Thinking of drawing characters on an Oregon Trail-like adventure to a certain place. Do I have four interested people for this task?

That's why at one point, you could get emerald for emerald trades because it was random.
Just discovered Computercraft, it's quite awesome. :v:
Thinking of drawing characters on an Oregon Trail-like adventure to a certain place. Do I have four interested people for this task?
Elaborate. I know what Oregon Trail is, but I don't know what you want.
Just discovered Computercraft, it's quite awesome. :v:
Then try Redpower's computer.
Elaborate. I take pictures of the scenery in the game, I draw the characters based on their skins doing actions.
I'd be in for that.
Speaking of people's side projects, do you think adding dehydration to the game would make it more enjoyable if trying to shift the gameplay on the Post Apoc server from to more challenging survival?
I would totally join in on this. Would it be regular Oregon Trail, or Zombie Trail?
Just remember people can live up to 4 days without water, and you'll be fine. Alot of times dehydration and hunger bars go away realisticly too quickly.
4 Minecraft days is pretty short, but the effects aren't instant like hunger is. For instance, after about 2 MC days, your melee damage is weakened and it servers as a identifier that you're dehydrated. After about another 2 days, you move slower as well. A few days later your vision gets worse, and then about a week and a day from first symptoms you die.

I imagine that it would be extremely dangerous to explore, and from the sounds of it there is no point to digging underground either, nor is there a focus on building a base.
Some activities can dehydrate you faster, most of these are taking drugs, being in withdrawal, or being diseased.
god damn my automerge was broken so bad [editline]30th June 2012[/editline]
Speaking of Minecraft days, what would players do at night? For instance, the "Board" item can be used to cover holes in walls and windows to prevent mobs or other players from getting in. Metal sheets can be done so as well and don't degrade over time as quickly as wood. Campfires can be used to light up a surrounding area, but must be fed kindling to stay lit, and can be used to cook food and other items over time like a furnace. Most blocks that generate in and around cities are not destroyable by mining, and must be exploded to destroy them. They can drop rubble, but most blocks don't drop their own block. [editline]30th June 2012[/editline]
This server is just sounding great. Will it involve a lot of installing and mods or whatnot? Me and my friend would love to join it if it's not too complicated to get everything installed.
The jar will be prepackaged with everything needed to play it. You'll backup your normal .minecraft and replace it with this one.
Yeah, count me in as well. Let's do it. I have a small server as well, if we need one.
