What is that minimap? Is it compatible with modloader?
Also, are there any mods that expand on the Nether? Not just shitty ores, though.
It's Rei's minimap and works with modloader and forge
Wow, that's amazing.
Anyway, what about the Nether? I think it lacks some significant features.

Try blowing up the crystals while bunked. See where that'll get you.
Change the texture of the pumpkin GUI thingy to be invisible or to have more sight.
Put it on your head, enter The End.

Doesn't full diamond armor protect you from the dragon?
So this week does not get a new snapshot?

Pumpkins cause endermen to not automatically aggro when you look at them. It plus a flame bow is a great way to kill endermen because they'll "dodge" the arrow but still get set alight. There should be an enchantment for poison arrows/swords too
It'd be cool to be able to coax your sword with poison potions, and depending on the strength it will last for a certain amount of strikes.

Just pulled an experiment. I'd recommend getting Balkion's WeaponMod and bring a couple Muskets and some stacks of rounds. Just one Blunderbuss, for quick, up-close combat. Doesn't hurt the dragon as much as the Musket. You can easily go with a Pumpkin in the stead of a helmet. The Musket is the key to taking out the crystals. Granted, I'm not The Rifleman, but if you aim juuuuust a bit to the left, you can take out the crystals in a shot. Depends on your aim, so I recommend two or three stacks of ammo (which use iron). Cannon unadvised.
If you have a zombie grinder, they occasionally drop iron products, like helmets. Smelt them in the Alloy Furnace (RedPower) to get the iron. All smelts return all iron used to make armor, resulting in all twenty-four ingots if you manage to scrape a whole iron armor kit from a zombie. This renders Iron Ingots and Iron armor a renewable material. Anyway, the recipe for one IRON, GUNPOWDER, and PAPER delivers eight Musket Rounds. Whole armor set allows for three stacks of Musket Rounds. From that point, the only thing to worry about is your Musket breaking, so bring two.
The only gripe with the dragon is that it destroys blocks that aren't Obsidian or End Stone. It can destroy ladders and any stacks of material you plop to raise yourself to destroy crystals you can't shoot at since they're too high. This is what killed me in my test. I think Protection IV/V enchantments do a good job on protecting you from falls, which is what I didn't do.

My friend started a survival SMP server, so I joined. Made this on my first day;

The smaller island I made for my friend to build a house on. Turned out decent I say.

What sort of submarine/deep sea diving mod would be recommended?

There really needs to be an Aqua Lung enchantment, more levels required than Respiration, but permanently allows you to breathe undewater. A con may be that you can't breathe in air with an Aqua Lung-enchanted helmet.

What if killing the Enderdragon was the worst possible solution? That it was the personification of order to fight the embodiment of chaos aka Ghasts in the Nether? Let's fast-forward in time a millennium after Steve? kills the dragon in the year 211 MC?
[t]http://i.imgur.com/H79zI.jpg[/t]
A thousand years later (1011 MC) and the world is already ending, rupturing the terrain where humanity cannot farm.
Here is the Human Empire, the largest settlement of people in the eight-times-the-size-of-Earth Earth, housing two million survivors. Darkness from overhangs are more common, resulting in more deaths from mob attacks. Since this darkness spread across the land, more people have taken to living in mountains like Dwarves/Dorfs/Whatever. Endermen have turned hostile since the death of their commander, rendering them scarier than what was hyped pre-1.8.
[t]http://i.imgur.com/Z70tF.jpg[/t]
Water levels have risen to double their previous height at a whopping 128m above the void. A helmet enchanted with Respiration III and a Potion of Regeneration would be necessary equipment to dive these depths. Because of the new erratic terrain, ores and minerals have become even more scarce.
[t]http://i.imgur.com/MRxAO.png[/t]
This is a RedPower volcano, folks! Buried over time!
What about ten thousand years since the slaying of the dragon?
(Whiggity-wiggity-whackity-whatever-sound-tape-fastforwarding-makes)
[t]http://i.imgur.com/WRal4.jpg[/t]
Behold, even the ruins of the last human settlement disappeared. Not a single person exists in MX11 MC. I was lucky enough to stumble upon this wall. It probably was used to guard the settlement from Skeletons, Zombies, and Creepers.

I mean, look at it! The end of the world was brought thanks to one man who just did as he was told by a fat guy in a fedora. Good going, fatty.

There used to be many to choose from.
Scokeev's Nethercraft,Nether Better,...probably some others I forget.
Now,I've been desperately searching the MCForums for one, noone makes them anymore :(
I tried installing the 12w27a minecraft.jar, I saved it over the default .jar in the bin directory. Ever since that, Minecraft has been crashing at the loading screen.
I have tried deleting the 12w27a minecraft .jar and the "version" file, but it still crashes.
Hopefully this isn't going to be like the dead requests thread, where no one would help me with my modeling predicaments.

What would you all like out of the Nether?
