Atmosphere, my friend. Atmosphere. It is the general feeling you get while ingame, and what the 'feeling' is such a fragile element in any game that it's easy for it to change. The best games have the more consistent and most immersible atmosphere.

The leaves won't fuck with the redstone. Since trees are always 4-6 high, the redstone repeaters will always go through wood if it does grow.

All blocks besides glass, leaves, glowstone (etc) conduct power. Either by redstone wire being on top of it, redstone wire/redstone repeater going directly into it, or whatever. Note that it takes a block that uses redstone power (Repeaters, pistons, dispensers, doors, etc) for a block powered by redstone wire to actually go through, so you can't do redstone/block/redstone/block etc

The thing I hate is how boring the gen is. It's like every world looks exactly the fucking same. Except for maybe the shape of the biomes. I go back to my saves from late 2010 and they are amazing. No wonder I got sucked in, the way the landscape undulated and twisted made it feel like I was out in the wilderness. Not just Land A, Land B, Land C.

That's why I made this. They know shit when it comes to using Tekkit properly. They're just going to use EE for everything. This is a lot more fun.
EE is (to my likings) way too overpowered. You can get the best stuff within a day once you get some of those solar collectors running, and you can delete entire mountains in a flash.

Basically, a lot of stuff is being redone to make it more fun, and less OP.

What I meant to ask was, why is the redstone 2 blocks off the ground, does it still work at ground level?

It's changed because you and pretty much everyone here knows the game inside out, so there is no mystery to discover or atmosphere to be immersed in

But the feeling of the game has changed too, as Rammlied said, through very subtle visual and audio cues. The things I can name right off the bat are the sunsets, slight changes in mob health and AI, the darkness level at night, the terrain generation, the new sounds released in... what was it, 1.8 or 1.0? Anyway, it's all the little changes that accumulate and alter your playing mindset. I still get the same feelings walking through beta terrain now that I did back then, which says to me that there's something about how the new terrain is generated that is lacking in whatever thing the old terrain has. Granted, there are some aspects of it I like, such as the structure generation, jungles and the ice mountains biome that weren't in the previous generator, but that hardly compensates.

now i can dig down to bedrock in mass caves and tunnels and you don't need a single one
i would have liked it if the caves where pitch black again
it would make tunnel diving scary again
