set it up to 30min, still getting lag. thanks for your help though. I'm really sure it's from my comp though, because when I press F3, it's using up 96% of my memory.
Tried disabling sound? Also, playing TerraFirmaCraft with my friend. WATCHING PAINT DRY: THE GAME!
Tried disabling sound? Also, playing TerraFirmaCraft with my friend. WATCHING PAINT DRY: THE GAME!
helped a little bit. it's so weird though, it's running just fine, and then randomly just spikes up to 100%.
It's not your computer,Technic is set up badly or something, everyone gets some lag from it.
This might sound completely weird, but I think it's Optifine. I can play Vanilla fine, and I can play all sorts of mods fine too without getting problems, but as soon as I install optifine, I get some really nasty rendering errors that eventually force me to restart the game. Optifine is packaged up with Technic.
also, should I stay on 1.3.1, or just downgrade to 1.2.5 until most mods get updated?
Something I hate about mods is that whenever they need to make an item hard to craft, they always resort to diamonds. Holy shit, try adding something a little more creative than diamonds.
like blaze rods. they are a bitch.
Found a couple of Diamonds in a Desert Pyramid, so now I can afford that new Diamond Pick - and enchant it with a whole thirty levels! Come on, come on.. Fortune! I want Fortune!
Something I hate about mods is that whenever they need to make an item hard to craft, they always resort to diamonds. Holy shit, try adding something a little more creative than diamonds.
It makes sense though, seeing as diamonds are near-endgame materials. Or something like that. I guess the alternative would be stupidly complicated crafting recipes using slightly more mundane items, or entirely new mod items. The latter doesn't seem too hard to include but for the sake of simplicity people probably just opt for diamonds.

I fucking hate slimes on super flat
yeah....... no. diamonds are not even close to being endgame. i can find them within an hour of starting a new world.
Yeah, potions and enchanting are more 'end game' than diamond (considering you need a diamond pick to make a nether portal, and to make an enchanting table)
My quarry walls are 5 blocks wide. I need to make an elevator to get to the top, ladders are too slow. I can water brake to go down. Zippers are awesome but I believe they're four blocks wide. I'd rather not do four blocks, because then it won't be centered. Which is unfortunate, because zippers look good and would match the tone I'm going for. What are my other options? (or can I make a zipper 3/5 blocks wide?) I'm on Xbox so I'm stuck with 1.7. :(

For those interested I did some simple side by side tests of 1.3 versus 1.2.5 in regards to static FPS and chunk loading. I talk for a little bit in the beginning about how I tested and towards the end of the video I talk about how I'm liking it so far, that's about it.
I fucking hate slimes on super flat
Vaguely mention, and you shall receive (as long as you're running 1.3.1) https://www.dropbox.com/s/1tkpxh8963r2toh/nx.class Removes slime's ability to spawn on superflat maps.

I always run minecraft with 4 gigs of ram allocated to it. I have 6 gigs so I can do that. javaw -Xmx4096m -Xms2048m -jar "C:\Users\Chase\Desktop\Minecraft.exe" Put that into a text file and save as a all files .bat(run minecraft 4 gigs.bat or something), the first numbers is the amount your allocating, the second numbers are half of the first and the address is the location of your minecraft.exe I would put it on your desktop for ease. Than just run the bat file and minecraft will launch with 4 gigs of ram allocated to it, if it does not run and the command line is correct, make sure you have the latest java version for your operating system, if you have 64 bit make sure you have the latest 64 bit version, same with 32 bit. 1024 = 1 gig; 2048 = 2 gigs; 3072 = 3 gigs; 4096 = 4 gigs
Here's The Raven in a Minecraft book-book friendly format. Just copy/paste each section onto a page.
§r §r §r §r §nEDGAR ALLAN POE §r THE RAVEN §r Once upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered, weak and weary, §r Over many a quaint and curious volume of forgotten lore, §r While I nodded, nearly napping, suddenly there came a tapping, §r As of someone gently rapping, rapping at my chamber door. §r "'Tis some visitor," I muttered, "tapping at my chamber door; §r Only this, and nothing more." §r Ah, distinctly I remember, it was in the bleak December, §r And each separate dying ember wrought its ghost upon the floor. §r Eagerly I wished the morrow; vainly I had sought to borrow §r From my books surcease of sorrow, sorrow for the lost Lenore,. §r For the rare and radiant maiden whom the angels name Lenore, §r Nameless here forevermore. §r And the silken sad uncertain rustling of each purple curtain §r Thrilled me---filled me with fantastic terrors never felt before; §r So that now, to still the beating of my heart, I stood repeating, §r "'Tis some visitor entreating entrance at my chamber door, §r Some late visitor entreating entrance at my chamber door. §r This it is, and nothing more." §r Presently my soul grew stronger; hesitating then no longer, §r "Sir," said I, "or madam, truly your forgiveness I implore; §r But the fact is, I was napping, and so gently you came rapping, §r And so faintly you came tapping, tapping at my chamber door, §r That I scarce was sure I heard you." Here I opened wide the door;--- §r Darkness there, and nothing more. §r Deep into the darkness peering, long I stood there, wondering, fearing §r Doubting, dreaming dreams no mortals ever dared to dream before; §r But the silence was unbroken, and the stillness gave no token, §r And the only word there spoken was the whispered word, §r Lenore?, This I whispered, and an echo murmured back the word, §r "Lenore!" Merely this, and nothing more. §r Back into the chamber turning, all my soul within me burning, §r Soon again I heard a tapping, something louder than before, §r "Surely," said I, "surely, that is something at my window lattice. §r Let me see, then, what thereat is, and this mystery explore. §r Let my heart be still a moment, and this mystery explore. §r "'Tis the wind, and nothing more." §r Open here I flung the shutter, when, with many a flirt and flutter, §r In there stepped a stately raven, of the saintly days of yore. §r Not the least obeisance made he; not a minute stopped or stayed he; §r But with mien of lord or lady, perched above my chamber door. §r Perched upon a bust of Pallas, just above my chamber door, §r Perched, and sat, and nothing more. §r Then this ebony bird beguiling my sad fancy into smiling, §r By the grave and stern decorum of the countenance it wore, §r "Though thy crest be shorn and shaven thou," I said, "art sure no craven, §r Ghastly, grim, and ancient raven, wandering from the nightly shore. §r Tell me what the lordly name is on the Night's Plutonian shore." §r Quoth the raven, "Nevermore." §r Much I marvelled this ungainly fowl to hear discourse so plainly, §r Though its answer little meaning, little relevancy bore; §r For we cannot help agreeing that no living human being §r Ever yet was blessed with seeing bird above his chamber door, §r Bird or beast upon the sculptured bust above his chamber door, §r With such name as "Nevermore." §r But the raven, sitting lonely on that placid bust, spoke only §r That one word, as if his soul in that one word he did outpour. §r Nothing further then he uttered; not a feather then he fluttered; §r Till I scarcely more than muttered, "Other friends have flown before; §r On the morrow he will leave me, as my hopes have flown before." §r Then the bird said, "Nevermore." §r Startled at the stillness broken by reply so aptly spoken, §r "Doubtless," said I, "what it utters is its only stock and store, §r Caught from some unhappy master, whom unmerciful disaster §r Followed fast and followed faster, till his songs one burden bore,--- §r Till the dirges of his hope that melancholy burden bore §r Of "Never---nevermore." §r But the raven still beguiling all my sad soul into smiling, §r Straight I wheeled a cushioned seat in front of bird, and bust and door; §r Then, upon the velvet sinking, I betook myself to linking §r Fancy unto fancy, thinking what this ominous bird of yore -- §r What this grim, ungainly, ghastly, gaunt and ominous bird of yore §r Meant in croaking "Nevermore." §r Thus I sat engaged in guessing, but no syllable expressing §r To the fowl, whose fiery eyes now burned into my bosom's core; §r This and more I sat divining, with my head at ease reclining §r On the cushion's velvet lining that the lamplight gloated o'er, §r But whose velvet violet lining with the lamplight gloating o'er §r She shall press, ah, nevermore! §r Then, methought, the air grew denser, perfumed from an unseen censer §r Swung by seraphim whose footfalls tinkled on the tufted floor. §r "Wretch," I cried, "thy God hath lent thee -- by these angels he hath §r Sent thee respite---respite and nepenthe from thy memories of Lenore! §r Quaff, O quaff this kind nepenthe, and forget this lost Lenore!" §r Quoth the raven, "Nevermore!" §r "Prophet!" said I, "thing of evil!--prophet still, if bird or devil! §r Whether tempter sent, or whether tempest tossed thee here ashore, §r Desolate, yet all undaunted, on this desert land enchanted-- §r On this home by horror haunted--tell me truly, I implore: §r Is there--is there balm in Gilead?--tell me--tell me I implore!" §r Quoth the raven, "Nevermore." §r "Prophet!" said I, "thing of evil--prophet still, if bird or devil! §r By that heaven that bends above us--by that God we both adore-- §r Tell this soul with sorrow laden, if, within the distant Aidenn, §r It shall clasp a sainted maiden, whom the angels name Lenore--- §r Clasp a rare and radiant maiden, whom the angels name Lenore? §r Quoth the raven, "Nevermore." §r "Be that word our sign of parting, bird or fiend!" I shrieked, upstarting-- §r "Get thee back into the tempest and the Night's Plutonian shore! §r Leave no black plume as a token of that lie thy soul hath spoken! §r Leave my loneliness unbroken! -- quit the bust above my door! §r Take thy beak from out my heart, and take thy form from off my door!" §r Quoth the raven, "Nevermore." §r And the raven, never flitting, still is sitting, still is sitting §r On the pallid bust of Pallas just above my chamber door; §r And his eyes have all the seeming of a demon's that is dreaming. §r And the lamplight o'er him streaming throws his shadow on the floor; §r And my soul from out that shadow that lies floating on the floor §r Shall be lifted---nevermore!
It'd be awesome if we could collect some stories/unicode images that are easy to copy/paste into books.
Mods always make items late-game by using nether items. You can skip it by casting a netherportal out of lava and water buckets. If you need obsidian and are playing with Redpower2 you can use blockbreakers to get it.
Yeah, potions and enchanting are more 'end game' than diamond (considering you need a diamond pick to make a nether portal, and to make an enchanting table)
Well it doesn't take too long for the enchanting table either.
Is there a reason technich launcher is not letting me download tekkit or vanilla?
Could anyone give a tip on how to building the tip of a tower?

Minecraft seamless LAN multiplayer is godlike.
It's nice to see a proper comparison of these things. Also you have a sexy voice.
Thanks, and yes it was a simple test I did. Not sure how else I'd repeatably check it. And as for the voice, thanks. For the past few months I've had my mic to the side and I didn't like how I sounded. I now re positioned my boom and with the mic right infront of me I sound much clearer.
holy shit it worked thank you so much and now I can make my minecraft run much better settings
Your welcome, I think minecraft runs by default with around 960 MB of ram and when you start throwing in mods and what not that just isn't enough.
Your welcome, I think minecraft runs by default with around 960 MB of ram and when you start throwing in mods and what not that just isn't enough.
actually, the default for mine was 268 mb. no idea why though
Minecraft, its the game of Gods.
i just had a sudden urge to build a wow mini-dark portal for my nether portal. i wonder how small it'd have to be to still be recognizable.
