Is there a mod to generate a world of a single biome type? Like an infinite Jungle?
The End technically already does have a skybox.
Doesn't it just have a flat texture exactly the same as the overworld uses for the day/night cycle? It's not really a skybox if it's not actually a "box"
McPatcher has an option for skyboxes? [editline]12th August 2012[/editline] Misa's texture pack has skyboxes.
So um. I can't figure out what I'm supposed to do with Thaumcraft 2. I'm finding lots of pretty crystals, and I found a weird floating blackholevoidmonolith thing. what am i supposed to do. Also, screw Mo' Creatures. Seriously, I was shitting bricks when I heard the werewolf outside on my first night.
Build a Crucible and some Conduits, throw some stuff in the Crucible and pipe the vis into an Infuser, then make some Enchanted Wood in the infuser and make some Vis Storage Tanks and store your vis in them congrats you're a wizard There's a really good indepth wiki about that mod look it up
the new "work in progress" block gave me a cool idea
the new "work in progress" block gave me a cool idea
spotlights?
I think void fog really needs to be redone, it's too quirky atm. Instead of being an overlay, it should be more like clouds. Sunlight destroys the nearby Voidfog instead of removing the voidfog overlay.

The prospect of ability boosts within a.. what, couple dozen x couple dozen blocks area(?) seems entirely impractical to me.
The prospect of ability boosts within a.. what, couple dozen x couple dozen blocks area(?) seems entirely impractical to me.
is only for decorative prupose, not to "expand" like a chain the effect of the "wip" block
so is rain still mute in the extreme hills biome after 1.3?
Doesn't it just have a flat texture exactly the same as the overworld uses for the day/night cycle? It's not really a skybox if it's not actually a "box"
It is a noisy blackness. It's like looking into a blacker void. I suppose you're right since it's not using the conventional method of rendering a skybox (I think), but visually, it's similar.
I wish the game had more rare items. Records really aren't rare anymore, golden apples are make able, cocoa beans are plantable, saddles where never rare, etc. I'd like some items that had next to no use (Where you could do stuff with it, but it was no where near worth the cost it takes to find it) and was made to be kind of a trophy that you can look for and collect. Idunno, I miss getting really excited after finding a golden record in a chest or the rare golden apple.
Alright, here's an idea; Rubies and Sapphires (We'll call these the Triforce Ores, along with the Emerald. Rubies are found in the nether. They spawn in one ore blocks and are incredibly rare (and only found at the bottom of lava lakes as well). They can be used to make weapons (Not armor). They have the same properties as gold, but having a ruby weapon out will make pigmen follow you. Attacking them will make pigmen run. Sapphires are found at the bottom of oceans. Even rarer than the Ruby. Crafting four of them with a block of obsidian will make a record, which consists of the sounds of waves crashing on a beach. Also, written books. 1% chance of spawning in dungeons chests and 5% chance of spawning in stronghold chests. They read the tale of the Pigman empire.
Sapphires shouldn't be too rare, since it would already be hard to look for them.
I think it's a pretty cool feature. Oh man, if you wanted to make a mob arena, it could be a bonus of some sort. Knock a mob down a certain hole or something, piston moves block, bam, temporary buff that you get to select!
Sure, it works for mob arenas and defending your base, but for exploring the world and fighting things in the bowels of the earth/atop a high moonlit mountain, you don't really receive the benefits of the Beacons. Personally I woulda gone a different direction to this; for example a system of Shrines, Altars and Gods where you can give the Gods your "experience" (aka the souls you have gathered) in exchange for "persistent" upgrades of sorts (the kind that disappear when you die). Different villages would pray to different gods, like the Black Goat of the Harvest Moon or the Iron Warden, and when you first reach their altar in the village church, you'd be able to access the Tier 1 "boons", like faster growth of crops planted by you/more drops from livestock bred by you, or "natural armour" to help reduce damage. For the higher tiers of boons, you'd need to go on a quest to find the Shrines, which are like the Beacon blocks only they are found in ancient ruins like tombs and temples, and you must put certain "offerings" into them to align them with the respective gods. For example, the Harvest Offering, essentially a basket of Wheat, Flowers and Eggs, aligns the Shrine with the Black Goat, and unlocks the next tier of boons to be accessed at Her altar(s). If anything, it'd add more things to achieve besides building big monuments. Combine the "Shrines and Gods" system with the True Words system (True Words being a sort of "practical magic" system tied into a grand adventure in which The Man hunts down and battles the Bosses in the other worlds to learn the power of the True Words through absorbing their Souls), and you'd probably have a nice addition to the formula, or at least a pretty neat mod.
I wish hardcore mode had more gameplay differences. Like, zombies aren't affected by knock back (When you hit a mob they're usually knocked backward, that wouldn't happen here). Ores would generate in less-dense veins and be less common. Fires spread infinitely. Health regens slower. Animals are randomly chose when attacked to either fight or flight; when you hit them, there's a 60% chance that they will start attacking you, headbutting you and stuff. There's also a 40% chance that they'll run away (They also run away more intelligently and quickly, making them harder to hunt). When breeding animals, there's only a 30% chance they will get the hearts above their head after giving them what. Trees take longer to grow. All mobs have at least one piece of armor on. Occasionally mobs will spawn in packs. Torches eventually burn out (When they burn out, they're left with sticks on the wall, which can be re-ignited by right clicking it with a piece of coal) [editline]13th August 2012[/editline]
Sapphires shouldn't be too rare, since it would already be hard to look for them.
Not necessarily. Ocean biomes are pretty big. Even though it's dark, if you look hard it's kind of easy to notice it. Have you ever been in a dark cave and even though it's dark you can see diamonds in the wall? That's because it's a bright color.

It's like you need Aqua Affinity and Breathing or that other air enchantment.

It makes sense now: Jeb is making these new command blocks so other people can make vanilla gamemodes for him! That clever...

This is going to make creative a lot more fun. I'm already planning teleport chambers for different environments.
Can that block target the person who powered redstone? Because if not it might not work out so well for multiplayer.
Can that block target the person who powered redstone? Because if not it might not work out so well for multiplayer.
It can target the closest, all, or a specific one. But not the activator. I agree that it should have the activator option.
OH GOD! Yes, if it detects the activator, you can make a portal test chamber thing. like /give <name> block and the person uses that to solve the test. or /fly
http://www.twitch.tv/kurtjmac Just so you know, Kurtjmac, the guy in Far Lands or Bust, is currently in his final hour of the 12-hour FLoBathon celebrating raising 100% (now over 200%) of his goal for Child's Play Charity. Wolfie, the dog he's had since like episode 10, has just gone totally missing- an extremely sad and tense time has been had. At the end of the FLoBathon he'll press F3 and we'll see how far he's gone.

Kurt has pressed the F3 key.
X: 27900 Y: 107 Z: 699492
Kurt has gone a total of 5.7% of the way there or so during the entire FLoB. Amazing.
Kurt has pressed the F3 key.
I walked further than that on 2b2t in two days, then again, that was using the nether.
It can target the closest, all, or a specific one. But not the activator. I agree that it should have the activator option.
And how would you determine who the activator is? What if you use a clock, or a wooden pressure plate with items, etc. Even if you use a lever or button, somehow attaching data for 'who caused this' to the 'on/off' and 'distance' value of redstone wouldn't really work. You'd have to refactor redstone entirely.
