I am going to make a ICBM server, and when tekkit goes 1.3.2 I'll add that onto the server (and of course everything stays the same)

I've enabled allowing the .jar to be runned as a program, but I can't open it. No idea how to install Java, been spending alot of time in Terminal and guides to get it.

You should do a fortnightly (maybe) event thing where you and a bunch of other builder admins whitelist the server for just you guys and build a big adventure for players and then remove the whitelist when its done and challenge players. I do them a lot on my server for my friends, its fun.
Anyone else can't connect to their accounts? It seems as if the account server is down.
I'm having trouble connecting to Minecraft; should I get the latest Java patch or is the threat of intrusion too much of a risk? I dunno what's up with the account server, but maybe they're fortifying it against the latest Java vulnerabilities?

1: Your internet connection is down
2: The Minecraft authentication server is down.
Patching Java ain't going to do shit to magically connect you to the server; the game runs fine on older versions of Java 6, after all; and the recent reports of vulnerabilities apply to visiting malicious sites running Java for the sole purpose of exploiting people's computers, something I highly doubt Mojang would implement into Minecraft.

Java does not come with ubuntu, nor is it entirely easy to install, but this should be the basics. You'll be looking for Oracle Java 7 or OpenJDK7, and you want the JRE not the JDK.
