Maybe instead of pressing space bar to make the pig jump, you just looked up at a 120 or so degree angle, and then it would start jumping Or when you hit a block it would jump
what if you punch the pig :c
No, not like use your fists, when the pig bumps into a block it would automatically jump.
On the one hand, Jeb is like the saviour of minecraft, fixing up Notch's code and half baked ideas. On the other hand, it seems like he can't help but add totally irrelevant shit whenever he gets the chance. I'd honestly have preffered Notch stay as a creative advisor or something and Jeb just stick to fixing stuff and updating existing features, like the villagers now growing other crops.
Yeah I wish Notch was still here adding more wool colors
minecraft ideas thread
Sorry for being a bit late on this topic, but does anyone have a link to the old minecraft idea thread? I posted something there and I would like to read it again.
I finished that autobridge I posted a bit ago: It's ridiculously complex for what it does, but I couldn't think of any other way to do it. Still, I'm pretty happy with the final product. Now on to building more stuff. Not sure what, but something fun.
Perhaps this could be of great use to you. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WfTc3mos-QQ
I've seen St3venAU's stuff before (and it's great stuff), but I was trying to make a generator without a clock like he has there. My autobridge is a "push button, forget about it" sort of deal, where you can just come back to a fully constructed bridge after a minute or two.
It still seems overly complicated. I have seen ice cube generators that work solely on auto pistons. They could easily be converted to work with stone, you should look one up. [editline]7th September 2012[/editline] I can't test it right now, but this should work right?

Now that I think of it, pulling a block away instead of pushing it up makes way more sense. I don't have much time before I have to go to Uni, but I guess expect updates tomorrow. [editline]Edited:[/editline] Bam, results [t]http://i.imgur.com/Um8gu.jpg[/t] Used his design for this, but I'll probably find another (slightly smaller) bud.
I wish you could get villager heads, i'd arrive at a village at the dead of night with my inventory full of them, put them on fences surrounding the town and scare the shit out of the inhabitants. If only.
these are my heds do not take my heds
Personally i'm still not down with Beacons; sure the thought of slaying a demonic wraith-like boss to acquire a powerful artifact is kind of cool, but the end result doesn't seem worth it. I don't agree with the way it works; you have to be in proximity to the Beacon to benefit from it, so it's only really useful for protecting a castle or a village. If it affected Villagers, like if there were Guards or Paladins that could benefit from the powers of the Beacon, i'd be somewhat ok with having it; I could install a mighty Beacon within the Church to inspire the protectors of the town. But even if it empowered the Guards, it'd still only be good for defending the village/town, and that's not how I roll; as the Lone Wizard of Technology I want the power to be with me wherever I go, I want Shrines that bestow me with the power I need to battle the beasts that haunt the night and gimble in the eldritch wabe. For defending an area, the Beacon would be a good structure, but I want something more useful for explorers and adventurers, not a thing that only gives you power in a relatively small radius of proximity. Like I say over and over, it would work for protecting a town from invaders, if there were a knightly guard who could benefit from the Beacon's power, but for the Lone Wizard of Technology it's just not useful for me. Also, if I am to become more attached to villagers, I want to interact more with them; I want to be able to teach villagers how to defend themselves against the undead, whereas in theory my best bet for ensuring a village survives is to build defenses like great stone walls and create a lot of Golems. That'll be the first thing I do when I discover my first village; even as the Lone Wizard of Technology I would have some empathy towards the Testificate folk of the Overwilds. I just wish I could find a village nearby, though to be fair the extent of my explorations are exploring the territories around my base "Redwood Canopy" to the edges of my first Map, and also the wilds beyond the north-eastern corner of those territories, so there's still a chance to find a village in the other 3 unexplored corners of the neighboring lands... Tomorrow i'll do it; my pyramid and deep desert strip-mine can wait, at least one of the three remaining corners must hold some semblance of civilisation, somewhere that the Lone Wizard of Technology can feel some sort of companionship.
I have had little luck defending villages myself. Iron golems tend to wander off, walls are only good if the inside of them are well lit, and more often then not villagers would wander out of the village.
If you guys don't like what they're adding, then tweet them or post on that subreddit,

As for those who wander outside, surely they go back to their houses at night-times, don't they?

Instead of dying before I get there.

The Wither is blue now? Heh.
The Wither is blue now? Heh.
When you spawn it, it starts at half health, and then has a very quick regeneration effect and the blue effect flashes on and off. It's like an entrance effect, it's kind of neat. I think it'd be cool if villages had walls around them (Made of the material that stronghold walls are made out of), and a large gate in the front. There would be a "Guard" villager That always mans the gate and closes it at the sight of zombies. Breaking the wall would cause the guard to attack you, and when things quiet down it will try to fix the wall.

I like the villages being very primitive, and having them rely on the players to make bigger and safer. And there's already a guard of sorts for villages, the Golems.
The amount of houses needed for iron golems should be decreased. Right now, barely any village contains them due to generation of the terrain.
I like the villages being very primitive, and having them rely on the players to make bigger and safer. They rarely spawn on their own and when they do they do a shit job of protecting villagers.
I wish they decided on wheat instead of the Carrot on a Stick, it makes more sense in terms of the game, and they could have made a play on words and called it a Riding Crop.

Still no villages found in the north-west corner, though I did find a torrent of lava flowing down the side of a mountain, plus a massive plateau with a great hollow interior. I hope not to find a village at night, since i'd have to spend half the time building the defenses and half the time killing the fiends that stalk the night. Actually that'd make a decent beginning of a tale. "When the Lone Wizard of Technology came to our village, it was on a rather dark night; the undead were banging on our doors hungrily as they normally do on such nights. However this night was different; this night the growls of the dead were cut short by the sound of steel on flesh and bone. I crept toward the window to take a closer look, and what I saw inspired awe in my heart. The stranger looked similar to the ghouls that banged on our doors, but he looked far healthier than any ghoul I ever glimpsed, with a skin-shade akin to ours, and a greater intelligence in his eyes; he was also clad in iron armour. Though some of the undead carry weapons, the stranger carried a blade seemingly made out of diamond, which according to our blacksmith Glen was a material far stronger than the iron he usually worked with; it certainly cut up the undead better than any iron sword did." "Not only did the stranger have a fine weapon, but he used it in conjunction with a fighting style that i've never seen anyone use; charging towards his opponents to send them flying, leaping upwards and striking hard as he fell, and for some reason his weapon glowed with what I could only describe as sorcery. But why was this strange being here, of all places? I truly knew not at the time, but as I saw him rip the Pearl straight out of a Tall Man I truly hoped he was on our side; such violent power would spell our doom if it were turned on us. By the time the stranger was finished eliminating the fiends that were trying to break down our doors, the sun was rising, and the dead were fleeing back to their dark domains in the Underworld; the stranger looked somewhat satisfied with his work, and proceeded to build something." "At first we were somewhat fearful of the Wizard, staying out of his way, but in time we realized that he was helping us; he constructed a wall around the village to keep out the undead, with a singular gate for passing in and out of the village, and he did so in the space of a day. I'd never known any man capable of working so relentlessly, nor had I known any who had traveled as far as the Wizard, but this man had indeed worked hard and traveled far in search of civilization; though his tongue was unknown to our people, he communicated in other ways, such as showing us a map of the lands he had traveled to to locate society; in the corner of that map was his home, a canopy of red wood amidst a thick forest. At times he would return to that place, though he always ensured the village was well-lit and well-protected; he even forged a second Golem to guard the main gate. Whenever he returned, he brought with him strange things which he traded with our village; seeds for exotic crops like pumkiin and co-co, bows that once belonged to skeletons, sometimes even the crystalline tears of the mythical Ghast demons, and in return we paid him with Emeralds, our village's main currency." "The relationship between the Wizard and our village has been for the most part beneficial since he showed up on that dead night many moons ago; in that time he has helped our village to expand, constructing additional houses and farms so we can eat well and expand our population. He even helped my wife Maria, who disappeared one night and returned as one of those ghouls. I was about to run a sword through her to end her undead misery, when the Wizard motioned me to step away, after which he threw a flask of some strange liquid at the creature that was once my wife, and produced a golden sphere from his pockets, which upon further observation was an apple plated with Gold. The ensuing ritual purged the infection from Maria and restored her sanity; I can honestly tell you I have never been happier since that day of miracles. However, I fear the Wizard may not return; one day he spoke with the village librarian about something called 'the Withered', and declared that when he next returns, he would bring with him 'power to the town'." "It has been several weeks since he set off to hunt 'the Withered', and I have not heard from him since that day. The undead have become more organised; they now wear armour in addition to carrying weapons, and on occasion I have seen a Tall Man wearing strange adornments just outside the walls of our town, as if watching intently. The Wizard has entrusted to me the safe-keeping of the Golden Apple, and left me a crate filled with 'Potions of Weakness'; I know how to perform the ritual as he taught me, but I can only perform so many 'exorcisms' before I run out of that liquid lethargy required to pacify the infected. There is also another matter; I performed the ritual on a normal ghoul the other day, and as a result there is now another of the Wizard's 'kind' amongst us, Miranda of the Bronze Cities. Only in legends have I heard of the Bronze Cities, but rest assured, that tale did not have a happy ending. I honestly do not know what to do next; should I perform the ritual on other ghouls like before, or should I reserve treatment for my own people? I want to help my fellow man, but I want to know more about the 'humans' that Miranda claims the ghouls once were. I will wait for another month, and if the Lone Wizard of Technology does not return by then, I will have to make the decision myself..." -Memoirs of George Logan, a priest of Stonewall Village.
