Fuck you Stan, we don't need your server!
[sp]Do what you want but there's already an abundance of tekkit servers[/sp]
I were the first tho :))))
Enchanting is kind of a gamble isn't it; first time I got Smite IV and Knockback II on my first Diamond Sword, but the second got just Bane of Arthropods IV. Though i'll need to be more thorough in sending enemies flying, at least this sword'll give a spider pause for thought.
I am not sure if I like the idea of head drops. Every PvPer would have rooms filled with steve heads.
Wait, if you kill a player do you simply get a steve head? Or is the head you get textured to look like that player's head?
They really need to work on villagers more. It's stupid how you punch them and then they just run around wherever they want. They should have attack animations and stuff. As someone mentioned, iron golems are such a waste of iron. They're frankly totally useless. You can't keep them outside to guard your bloody house from creepers and shit if they wander off 50,000 blocks.
One of the most annoying thing Mojang needs to fix is doors in level with the ground for villagers. It's stupid how a door is 3 blocks higher above the ground. It's just really annoying whenever I find a village to see this. I have to say, before Jeb and Dinnerbone feeds Minecraft all these new things, they should really try fix existing things.
I don't know why but I'm getting a feeling that Jeb is becoming more like Notch now. This doesn't mean he doesn't add content like Notch did. It's how Notch just never tried to complete one aspect fully in Minecraft before moving to other ideas. This is what I wanted of Jeb. He was great for the first few months, but now the quality of Minecraft is diluting.
God I'm so sick of them not updating with attack animations.
Jeb tweeted once that he wants to make the Enderdragon fight actually fun.
To do that he needs to make combat in general fun.
To do that he needs attack animations and recoil from blocking, like oblivion-skyrim.
I'd play the butts out of it, but right now it's just "click with best weapon".

That would actually be really interesting, but somehow I doubt a steve head comes from killing players for 2 reasons - 1 being singleplayer, and the other being multiplayer servers with PvP disabled.

The Wither skeleton has attack anims.

It's not like steve heads would be an essential feature.
Yogscast did 2 videos on the new snapshot

All this new stuff is great in the snapshots (with exceptions) but here's my question:
Where's our mod API?
I think that the Mod API is being worked on, but will release with the full update. Mods aren't very snapshot friendly, it would be a bitch to update them every week.
I think that the Mod API is being worked on, but will release with the full update. Mods aren't very snapshot friendly, it would be a bitch to update them every week.
Isn't the point of a mod API so that mod authors don't have to update their mods with every single update? Or am I thinking of this wrong.
Mod API is being worked on but they really want to overhaul the rendering system first because it's a mess to work with (and thus build an API for).
Isn't the point of a mod API so that mod authors don't have to update their mods with every single update? Or am I thinking of this wrong.
Once it's done. Having a beta mod API would defeat the whole purpose.
yeah, pretty dissapointed this wasn't thought to be added in by now, but still, progress on making pigs ridable is still good :3 If they can get them to jump with space I really would consider pigs a valid form of transportation.
Or if you can swing the stick to make him jump.
Or if you can swing the stick to make him jump.
Or, ya know, just make it so that pigs will automatically jump if they walk into a block.

Skeletons need actual bow firing animations so the blocking isn't next to impossible.
Zombies' arms should flail when you get hit by them
.
Spiders should bob thier heads when they bite you.
A properly timed block in PvP should disarm the enemy, making them drop whatever they are attacking you with. Swinging a sword should also drain waaaaaay more hunger the swinging a tool does.
Crits need to be buffed.

Not too sure how I feel about that. All that'd really do is make it so people carry a hotbar full of weapons to a fight. What might work better is that a properly timed block would disorient the player, like turn their camera a bit so they can't just spam click another player.

Not to mention sneaking is useless since even if you crouch up behind a skeleton, as soon as you peek your head over a block hes going to 360 and INSTANTLY shoot you with an arrow.
Also, if we've got the ability to dye armors, why not the ability to dye beds?
Anyone know a good EU server host for a Tekkit server? :v:

You should probably just wait for 1.4 to come out sometime in October once all the bugs are more ironed out. The snapshots are more for people who want to preview the updates, bugs included, or to find the bugs and squash them.

So I decided to try fighting the Wither in survival mode (granted after I've spawned in it creative, but I digress).
He obliterated me quite easily.
I noticed that he acted a lot like a Blaze in flying away from me, so I devised this:

As long as he doesn't attempt to fly towards the glass he won't break through and you can effectively farm Nether Stars.
It still seems overly complicated. I have seen ice cube generators that work solely on auto pistons. They could easily be converted to work with stone, you should look one up.

-really helpful video-

Finished.

It's a little more than 7 times smaller than the old autobridge (though this one uses BUDs, the old one used smart pistons).
Thanks again for the advice.
I did like how you used smart pistons. Usually using smart pistons with a cobble generator is impossible, so it was really neat that you where able to do it right, but I guess it does the same thing.

The idea was that if they (mojang) ever changed something about lava + water making stone (cobble or smooth, depending how which way you do it), then it would always work as long as they still made a block. A simple example of this would be if lava + water were to be changed to make a block of stone after 5 seconds of contact (as opposed to now, where it's instant), the autobridge would work the exact same way because it doesn't rely on any timers; it counts each and every block.
The new bridge uses BUDs instead of smart pistons. It works best with the way lava & water currently, but it'd still work if they changed something.
Other autobridges with clocks wouldn't work as well. You'd need to adjust the clock every time stone generators changed, and if you wanted a long timer so that you didn't have to come back to switch it off, you'd have to adjust that too. In a sense, these are 'future proofed'.
Still no villages found in the north-west corner, though I did find a torrent of lava flowing down the side of a mountain, plus a massive plateau with a great hollow interior. I hope not to find a village at night, since i'd have to spend half the time building the defenses and half the time killing the fiends that stalk the night. Actually that'd make a decent beginning of a tale.
"When the Lone Wizard of Technology came to our village, it was on a rather dark night; the undead were banging on our doors hungrily as they normally do on such nights. However this night was different; this night the growls of the dead were cut short by the sound of steel on flesh and bone. I crept toward the window to take a closer look, and what I saw inspired awe in my heart. The stranger looked similar to the ghouls that banged on our doors, but he looked far healthier than any ghoul I ever glimpsed, with a skin-shade akin to ours, and a greater intelligence in his eyes; he was also clad in iron armour. Though some of the undead carry weapons, the stranger carried a blade seemingly made out of diamond, which according to our blacksmith Glen was a material far stronger than the iron he usually worked with; it certainly cut up the undead better than any iron sword did."
"Not only did the stranger have a fine weapon, but he used it in conjunction with a fighting style that i've never seen anyone use; charging towards his opponents to send them flying, leaping upwards and striking hard as he fell, and for some reason his weapon glowed with what I could only describe as sorcery. But why was this strange being here, of all places? I truly knew not at the time, but as I saw him rip the Pearl straight out of a Tall Man I truly hoped he was on our side; such violent power would spell our doom if it were turned on us. By the time the stranger was finished eliminating the fiends that were trying to break down our doors, the sun was rising, and the dead were fleeing back to their dark domains in the Underworld; the stranger looked somewhat satisfied with his work, and proceeded to build something."
"At first we were somewhat fearful of the Wizard, staying out of his way, but in time we realized that he was helping us; he constructed a wall around the village to keep out the undead, with a singular gate for passing in and out of the village, and he did so in the space of a day. I'd never known any man capable of working so relentlessly, nor had I known any who had traveled as far as the Wizard, but this man had indeed worked hard and traveled far in search of civilization; though his tongue was unknown to our people, he communicated in other ways, such as showing us a map of the lands he had traveled to to locate society; in the corner of that map was his home, a canopy of red wood amidst a thick forest. At times he would return to that place, though he always ensured the village was well-lit and well-protected; he even forged a second Golem to guard the main gate. Whenever he returned, he brought with him strange things which he traded with our village; seeds for exotic crops like pumkiin and co-co, bows that once belonged to skeletons, sometimes even the crystalline tears of the mythical Ghast demons, and in return we paid him with Emeralds, our village's main currency."
"The relationship between the Wizard and our village has been for the most part beneficial since he showed up on that dead night many moons ago; in that time he has helped our village to expand, constructing additional houses and farms so we can eat well and expand our population. He even helped my wife Maria, who disappeared one night and returned as one of those ghouls. I was about to run a sword through her to end her undead misery, when the Wizard motioned me to step away, after which he threw a flask of some strange liquid at the creature that was once my wife, and produced a golden sphere from his pockets, which upon further observation was an apple plated with Gold. The ensuing ritual purged the infection from Maria and restored her sanity; I can honestly tell you I have never been happier since that day of miracles. However, I fear the Wizard may not return; one day he spoke with the village librarian about something called 'the Withered', and declared that when he next returns, he would bring with him 'power to the town'."
"It has been several weeks since he set off to hunt 'the Withered', and I have not heard from him since that day. The undead have become more organised; they now wear armour in addition to carrying weapons, and on occasion I have seen a Tall Man wearing strange adornments just outside the walls of our town, as if watching intently. The Wizard has entrusted to me the safe-keeping of the Golden Apple, and left me a crate filled with 'Potions of Weakness'; I know how to perform the ritual as he taught me, but I can only perform so many 'exorcisms' before I run out of that liquid lethargy required to pacify the infected. There is also another matter; I performed the ritual on a normal ghoul the other day, and as a result there is now another of the Wizard's 'kind' amongst us, Miranda of the Bronze Cities. Only in legends have I heard of the Bronze Cities, but rest assured, that tale did not have a happy ending. I honestly do not know what to do next; should I perform the ritual on other ghouls like before, or should I reserve treatment for my own people? I want to help my fellow man, but I want to know more about the 'humans' that Miranda claims the ghouls once were. I will wait for another month, and if the Lone Wizard of Technology does not return by then, I will have to make the decision myself..."

Cool so far but what the hell is a Lone Wizard of Technology
Unless you're using Technic or something you won't be able to do much technology or wizardry

Farming the nether skeleton heads is probably going to be a lot more time consuming and difficult if they've got a rare drop rate.
A lot of servers I know, and one I play one, disables the nether anyways. So these are going to be stupidly impossible to obtain.

Simple redstone circuits are technology.
