Anyone happen to notice that in the wiki version page it says minecarts got sounds now?
They do.
Fuck yeah, our glorious leader Spumwackles is back.
1) Glad to see I ain't the only one forced to short distance. Each tier seems to give a 20FPS difference. 2) Terra Firma would be nice to try if OptiFine Light was compatible with ModLoader and all.
Got a new Tekkit server, Any suggestions for plugins to generate excitement?
I am tired of playing single player. What server should I join? I tried 2b2t.net, it was pretty fun, but I don't want to deal with griefers, stealing etc. anymore. I enjoy vanilla Minecraft, just the normal survival style - no mods like Tekkit, extra mobs or anything like that. I'd like if the server has mods for maybe locking chests or protecting area - or a server where people just don't steal and grief. Suggestions are welcome - Thanks
So mystcraft just fucked me over and left me stuck in a dimension, is there any way to get to the overworld now? Linking/Descriptive books are broken for some reason.
Just wanted to post this here because lots of people here feel the same. [thumb]http://i.imgur.com/VsAAZ.png[/thumb]
As a minecraft developer I can confirm this. But in seriousness, I know it's different groups of people and the displeased will always be more vocal than the pleased. It's not a thing specific to Minecraft, it happens for every game (more than games, even, I guess). You can't please everyone. There's a phrase I once heard, "don't make games for the people; make them for yourself". If I were go around adding things that everyone ever wanted, I'd do a bad job of it because they weren't all features that I wanted myself. Whereas if I do things that I personally feel are a great addition, I'm more likely to do a better job at it and not ruin stuff along the way. With this in mind, I try to look out for what people suggest and if I love the idea then I'll do it; even if a completely different group of people grab pitchforks the very next day. Adding one groups suggestions may upset another group of people, but they get their turn to be happy soon too. Also I'm not sure if anyone will really read this far into the text so here's a piece of news that I'm too scared to put on twitter because I know that it'll curse me; I may have possibly perhaps fixed the half slab lighting bug. Maybe. No promises. It's also worth noting that with Jens on holiday next week there will not be a 12w39a, and we're now starting to finish & polish off existing features and spend a few weeks dedicated on bug patrol. Big new features aren't going to be likely for the remainder of 1.4. tl;dr: umadbro?
I'm quite happy with most of the new stuff the snapshots have added. The only things I really have problems with are the little quirks like how much iron/gold/diamond/emerald a beacon block needs and how badly multiple maps work with item frames.
The only thing that annoys me is the fucking trading.
The only thing that annoys me is the fucking trading.
The villagers really are jewish after all!
The only thing that annoys me is the fucking trading.
I'd give you the "then don't" but I can understand why trading might annoy you. I just like to think that Villagers are natural scam artists and that the best way to counter that is to bleed them dry by selling them nothing but wheat; easily grown and harvested in large bunches.
It's not just Reddit where this happens. :v:
I haven't seen a single idea taken from Minecraft forums that's been implemented. [sp]Oh, you meant Facepunch :V[/sp]
I think beacons are fucking pointless. They use so much iron\gold\diamonds, and you need to go to the nether, collect 4 soul sand and 3 rare mob drops to fight some insane boss that flies around and is hard to hit without a bow, and THAT needs to drop the nether star and you also need 3 obsidian, and put it ontop of your pyramid just to collect some crappy bonus like move speed or jumping.

I think they can be used more in maps created by the players. Like gather these blocks and make a beacon to cross this jumping puzzle or something of that nature.
I think it could be useful if it was just a bigger area, like a base. So it doesn't follow you everywhere, but you're safer in your base than you would be out traveling.
I think it could be useful if it was just a bigger area, like a base. So it doesn't follow you everywhere, but you're safer in your base than you would be out traveling.
I personally think a permanent effect would be better personally. It'd be balanced by how much it freaking costs to build a beacon base and if done right you could only have the benefit of one beacon block at a time.
I think there should be more effects that last longer. Currently we have two that are movement-oriented, two that are combat-oriented, and one that is mining oriented. There are certainly other effects that could be added, like what we see in potions (i.e. night vision, fire resistance). You should also be able to choose negative effects, like poison, so that you could create traps or area-of-effect perimeters. Also I know it doesn't help so much since you still need the ridiculous amounts of materials, but beacons can be economized: Here, we see that beacons don't need a fuckton of the same block. [t]http://media-mcw.cursecdn.com/b/b3/Beacon.png[/t] And here we see how we can "stack" beacons up next to each other in banks instead of having to build individual pyramids. [t]http://media-mcw.cursecdn.com/2/29/Efficient_beacon.png[/t]
I'm thinking of making a server, one of hardcore PvP; -Hardcore PvP, Survival, Limited Rules, No Hacking, etc. -Unlimited lives, though once you die you're banned for one hour. -Custom Map through any number of means. -Aforementioned Custom Map is changed to a different map every 31 days. -At the end of the month, high kill-count players, low-death count players, and random players are rewarded. -Rewards would be 45-15 minute ban-times, starter kits, and other neat stuff. Rinse and repeat, monthly.

[t]http://media-mcw.cursecdn.com/2/29/Efficient_beacon.png[/t]
Beacons are meant for buffs in a small area, not giving you permanent night vision or anything. For any longer effects, there's potions - which are also mobile (and beacons are not).
In PvP maps, beacons are also clear indicators on where your base is since they only operate when they see zenith (no block above it).

I don't really see the benefit of beacons. If they only work in a certain radius, whats the point of having the mining speed or the run buff?
If maybe some kinid of repeater beacon could be built, like a block whick extended the range of a particular beacon, that way it would be more worthy to build a beacon pyramid. .
I don't really see the benefit of beacons. If they only work in a certain radius, whats the point of having the mining speed or the run buff?
Stick one in your base so you can get around it faster. Unlimited buffs in a huge range wouldn't be fair, it'd replace potions. Besides, if you think they're pointless then don't built them.
I don't really see the benefit of beacons. If they only work in a certain radius, whats the point of having the mining speed or the run buff?
You can move beacons. Having a move speed would be good for a "mob arena" in the wilderness where you can run and kite mobs, and mining speed would be useful if you wanted to dig out a huge area. Just move it to where you want it at a moment.
Dinnerbone tweeted (No AntVenom? Dude really?) Might be in the next snapshot, but for the previous, i re-skinned the head for char.png, and got... update plz
