They added Iron Golems to Minecraft? AWESOME. Even though the Golem costs 36 Iron to make (as wel as the life-bringing Pumpkin), it has some pretty high Health, roundabout 100 (50 Hearts).
Also, apparently they sometimes hold out Roses to Villagers. I dunno what that's all about, maybe it's a symbol of peace to ease the anxieties of certain villagers concerning a massive metal man walking about the village.
Personally, I thought that a Stone Golem would've been a bit more reasonable, since Villagers don't seem to have access to Iron, and Stone's much more common anyways.

Well villagers do have a blacksmiths so they must have acsses to iron.
And they hold out roses, i haven't seem them do that?
Do they do it often?

Obviously, the villagers are named Algernon.

Aww.
They hold roses out to villagers sometimes.
Also, this means that you now have a source of iron in flatworld-survival maps! Not only that, but a boss to fight for it too!
For those who don't know,it's theoretically possible to survive on a flat world, provided you allow villages to generate. They give wood(non-renewable though),renewable food(wheat farms),water(fountains and wheat farms again),and now we can make iron tools too!(I just remembered you can get iron from blacksmith chests already but this is another source of it so yay
I really need to try playing Flatcore some day when 1.2 comes.
Edit:I just saw the post a few posts above me SHITTTTTTT
Anyone else having problems with the newly added features? The iron golems have a blank white texture for me, and I can't find upside-down stairs in Creative.
I've seen the iron golem attack spiders and skeletons, but not creepers?
I guess spiders and skeles will try to kill villagers soon too.
When was the ability to turn your camera upside down added?
One of the pre-releases, I think

Upside down stairs are not a different block.

Are you using a texture pack?
To make upside-down stairs, place a regular stair block on the underside of a solid block.

Place stairs on the bottom of a block
Anyone know any seeds that put you near a village in the latest snapshot?

Is the sound that lava plays when it spits out a particle new?
so like
this skeleton dropped a generic enchanted bow when it died
thats baller but sucks because it was in creative

Would be too simple to make an army by yourself. Iron is a good idea I think, since it's more expensive.
So I just got this brilliant idea:

A throne that you can sit in!

Works with minecarts too!
Well, the Iron could be like the expensive yet powerful version, whilst Golems made of Cobble or Wood (not Planks) could be cheap mooks that're essentially weaklings on their own.
Tell you what, I bet it would look really nice on a slab floor. BRB

Anybody else having trouble downloading updates from minecraft.net? I had to down-grade for my friends server but it won't update with the official update.

I don't know the version they first existed, but I know they were there before Beta 1.8. They were only actually activated in 12w05a.
Did anyone ever figure out what jeb meant with ''Some nights will be worse then others''?
Beacuse about ten zombies just spawned outside my village in the same place, all of them attacking the village...
Edit:
Aww, the golems give the children roses!
[t]http://i.imgur.com/RRjfK.png[/t]
It seems the golems have a bit of trouble with prioritizing.
[editline]23rd February 2012[/editline]
Also golems really should have a different texture for when the player makes them. Kinda looks odd for them to instantly look ancient when the player builds one.
Also it seems that golems give no fucks about the player that made them, kinda like the snow golems. They won't follow you around or teleport to you. Bit of a problem.
zombies should grow stronger/bigger/more powerful when they eat villagers

This and this, I feel there should be another, similar mob.
One with new textures, follows you, and is weaker because 13 diamond sword hits is OP as fuck against the current enemy mobs.
But 13 diamond sword hits is fine for the ancient version that protects villiagers.
I think it would be better for the generated golems to kinda patrol the gravel roads instead of just aimlessly strolling around.

Golem vs Golem deathmatch. Snow vs Iron, who will win?
Iron of course.
Whats the most effective method for mining? In this case i'm looking for lapus, but I've always been curious.
Lapis can be found at the same depths as gold, between 32 and 0 on the Y axis. I've found it more common between 20 and 27 personally, but your mileage may vary.
Branch-mining is the most effective method I've seen, basically just dig a long 2x2 shaft (trunk), and then along the walls of this shaft dig 1x2 shafts (branches) with two blocks between them. If you start mining on a different level, stagger the branches so they're not lined up with each-other.

Maybe after a few years the snow golems will manage to cause the iron golem to rust?
Are you using a texture pack?

I was at first but I switched back to default and the problem persists. I really hope it's not a problem with my computer or the save...
I kind of would of liked stone golems instead of iron because it does seem a little unfitting to have robots, but I guess the difference is subjective. Still I would of preferred a village guard instead of a robot.
