Cake can be made with "factory" resources (resources that can be infinitely gathered) such as sugar (grown from sugar cane), milk (milked from cows), eggs (laid by chickens), and wheat (grown from seeds). Steak is a "factory" resource in logic (keep making more cows with wheat), but also becomes tedious to just keep on and on and on.
I grew tired of the new Minecraft.
Now I'm only playing Minecraft on 1.6.6.
It was alot better, the terrain generation is alot, alot better. None of that stupid enchanting/hunger, those do not fit the game, the feeling of isolation is back, no more stupid testificates, no more ugly ravines intersecting with abandoned mineshafts that were boring to begin with anyway.
Good ol' 1.6.
1.7.3, the best version of minecraft.
The old terrain generation,
No hunger,
No enchanting etc.
I don't see why people dislike hunger and enchantments. I find that the current hunger system is much better than the old "eat food and you're healed" system, because say you just ate a porkchop and got hit by something. In the old versions, you'd have to waste another porkchop, where in this one you can just wait a little while for it to regenerate. It's also fairly loyal to the original Minecraft, seeing how it was meant to be a survival game.
I also like enchantments because it gives a point to making mob grinders, and it's surely a fun system to keep you going even after you've obtained all diamond stuff. In 1.7 and below, you got diamonds and you got the best tools, but now you still have to go a long way killing mobs and have some sort of luck to get the best tools, it's not an instant thing now.
Though I do prefer 1.7 generation over the new one, Jeb's doing his best to bring back beaches and more "character" back to maps. And you can always just resort to using mods like ExtraBiomes to give you that pre-1.8 world feel. If only we've had greener grass and some of the old biomes back, I'd be fairly content with the current world gen.
But whatever, everyone's entitled to their own opinion I guess.
Is it really that hard to keep food at a ready supply in your inventory? Fishing needs a little more love.
Fishing needs a lot more love, in my opinion. It should be a fundamental 'skill' (for lack of a better word) like chopping wood and mining. Making a better fishing rod should catch much better fish. Or something.
Big noses is commonly seen as a comical physical trait of a character.
You pointing out that big noses are racist is in fact racist of it's own.
That was a part of what was obviously a joke.
that's not really the same thing as what i'm saying
whereas iron and diamond tools can break more blocks and break them faster, there is no difference in the end whether you eat pork or cake
I still don't see why you and some of other people are so butthurt about the hunger. It's not like sacrificing 5-10 minutes for slaying hordes of cows and getting about stack of meat is so hard.
Then, given that your mine is not far away from your home so you don't have to sprint much, your food bar won't deplete fast, so having about 6 cooked pork/whatever in your inventory per mining trip is enough.
Wood, Stone, Iron, Diamond tools break blocks with different times, correct.
But in the end all they do is break blocks.
You have many food types that add to your food bar and then heal you. Yes, some of them "heal" you the same amount but you have many food types to choose from.

not exactly butthurt, i just don't like the system that much
and anyway i wasn't complaining that it was too hard to get food, i was talking about how there's so many types of food that it makes a lot of them useless
also: try breaking obsidian with a wood pick
then compare eating an apple with eating 2 uncooked porkchops

What? Why do you try to purposely starve yourself?
I never leave my house without one of my many full stacks of cooked beef. :v:
There should be an achievement for making an Iron Golem.
I also really like how expensive they are. It's so satisfying when you finally make one legitly and he proceeds to rape everyone
Ok, I got rated dumb for no reason whatsoever.

I think it was 32 ingots.
You need four iron blocks and a pumpkin.
Its just a pain in the ass slowdown, usually if I'm busy mining and my hunger bar is nearly empty I say "fuck it" and starve myself and survive with half health.
I just end up eating zombie flesh or whatever anyway, easiest food to find.
The hunger bar is so needy, I came to minecraft to build houses and overly large buildings, not hunt for cows and pigs because its past my 18th lunchtime today.
I've never had an issue with hunger. I carry a stack of bread. Stop complaining, and maybe run a kitchen garden. Heck, you can make an automatic melon farm that'll more than satiate your hunger.
...automatic melon farm...
How is it automatic if you have to retill the soil every harvest?
How is it automatic if you have to retill the soil every harvest?
You know what would be cool? If Jeb made it so that a dispenser going into the side of a tilled dirt block caused the seeds in the dispenser to be planted in that block.
I dunno how auto tilling would be done...
Maybe if you had iron bars on a sticky piston it would till the soil.

its much cheaper for me to just die instead of eating since i would just respawn and pick up my items again
How is it automatic if you have to retill the soil every harvest?
you dont have to till the soil for melon to grow
I hope you can merge stairs. Like, stone slab with cobble to make a single block.

It seems that switching to peaceful mode or going into Creative is too hard for some people.
Then there are mods that get rid of the hunger.
It's called Survival for a fucking reason.

If you play Minecraft just to be Creative, then... GASP! Play Creative mode!
Like Failure said, believe it or not, the gamemode names are not arbitrary words Notch pulled out of that little hat of his: Survival is for surviving, and Creative is for being creative.
If you don't like the surviving aspect, and just want the creative aspect, then just play Creative. It's not that hard a concept.
even though i like how minecraft is now, i dislike the hunger bar greatly
for one thing it's made a lot of items redundant: why would you bother gathering the materials for a cake when you could restore the same amount of hunger with ~2 steaks?
the same goes for cookies-why bother using a rare, dungeon-only item to heal a total of 2 hunger points?
on the other hand a lot of this problems also exist with just a health bar, so
Cake is actually really useful because you eat it instantly. No need to wait for the eating animation to play.
It'd be best to have a chest full of cakes in an area that you travel past often, then you can have a quick snack on a cake as you pass by, so your hunger level is kept topped up.
I just always make ass-tons of bread. v:v:v
Jeb's getting married.

Good for him!
I love the hunger system, survival aspects are fun. At the begining of the game things are a lot harder and I like that. However getting yourself situated and having a steady food supply is not hard at all. Here are all the things you can do:
Kill a skeleton, get a bone, get a little bit of wheat, find some chickens, take them to your house, and sit afk in the chicken pen for a bit, you got some eggs. Throw the eggs you got more chickens, or breed them, and eventually you will have enough chickens at your disposal that you can kill them and have them as a food source. Not hard.
Get some seeds, kill a skeleton, use some bone meal to start yourself out on a wheat farm that's roughly 5x5, and you're set. You can also now use this to breed animals, which is better in the long run.
Run out around and get some mushrooms, or use a bonemeal on a mushroom and get more mushrooms. Damn you got yourself stew for days.
Kill zombies or make a zombie trap for rotten flesh. It makes you hungry but if you have a lot it could make great cheap food.
etc.
It is a bit tedious to eat every now and then but I think it helps the game more than it hurts it. Plus having one item slot for keeping your hunger up is A LOT easier than using half your fucking inventory.

I think seeds/saplings should plant automatically after a while if not picked up.
I think it's better than the new 1.2 version. Just compare the terrain generation.

No, really, Mojang ruined Minecraft.
They should have stopped at 1.7.3.

That's right! Keep that Notch fanboyism flowing.

but notch has[sp]no fans[/sp]
The ONLY time hunger has bothered me was in Hardcore mode, and MOTHER FUCKING 2B2T! That server is barley fucking playable with it. It is almost impossble to get out of spawn. The only way to do it is too get lucky enough to kill a zombie through the lag and all the other fucking mobs without a sword, to get some rotten meat. Then you have to find a portal to the Nether and hope to god you can find another one very far away.
Damn you hunger.

I'm not sure what I want to do, but I want to have a pattern. Which one is better?
Also, I would of have them going all the way down, but that intersects with my lava forges or/and my branches to other rooms, which I don't want to remove.
Ummm, guys? I think I accidentally inserted the cartridge wrong again.

You don't tilt the cartridge to get the sideways character glitch, silly.

By the time I went down there, I heard ghasts and silverfishes. Tons of ghasts.
I panicked and went back up and ran to my house.
