also, the bright green on the map is a large mycelium field. A first find for me

I just generated using that seed and spawned on top of a tree. The island itself is pretty sweet, nice find.

Do they really spawn that far away from you though?
You'd have to have to build a piston elevator, but they should still spawn about 128.

I think the limit was about 150 blocks? They should spawn.
And even if they do not in SSP, in SMP they should.

do mobs drop rare loot when they aren't killed by a player? If so then mob grinders will also be more profitable.
Lovely rainforest islands. The one in the back is bigger than the other and is a bit taller in the middle. Has caves through it aswell, spooky. I really like it :smile:
