My computer drops to 0 fps whenever i enter a jungle biome, help? [editline]10th March 2012[/editline] Well, not all of it, it'll just break when i'm walking along
Anyone got problems when killing pigs? They don't seem to drop anything at all.
So, uh. Why does the map on my server look like this: The areas with dots are explored, only the chunk that is loaded seems to be fully visible.
Yeah, the texture-pack on this one is JohnSmith 9.2. I didn't post that picture just to whore funnies. Uh, anyone here able to actually help? :v:
Yeah, going down the side seems too much like cheating. I was planning on editing a hole in the bedrock, but I'm not sure where or when.
Perhaps there could be a special "Blasted Heath" biome, whereby the land is charred and ashen from a massive space-rock impact, which yields a deep crater leading down to a hole in the bedrock, through which one can behold the Nether. Also, should there be covens of witches in Minecraft? They could be small groups of NPCs, like 3 or 4 that gather around bonfires on the Sabbath days, who wield great and terrible power.
Anyone here ever gotten to the point where you are utterly bored of Minecraft? Any ideas on how to make it more interesting (Besides mods)?
Try to play differently. Like give yourself a goal - playing a nomad life. You travel only in sunlight and you can mine only at night. You can spend a night in one place only then move on to another. Or try to live underground creating underground farms and forests, simulating a vault-like life after nuclear apocalypse.
it'd be cool if you need some kind of special drill to get to it.
Or you'd have to find a certain something(deep ruin leading under bedrock, tunnel from nether fortress leading up,special item that can be used to destroy a bit of bedrock once, random little chasm in the bedrock, etc)to get there. Maybe another dimension of the "deepworld" or something would be found there? Perhaps an icy world of caves,so far from the heat of the sun and deep in the cold stone that the very ground is snow and ice, with great oceans of magical glowing and seemingly alive ice? Perhaps a deep, dark, ruined and massive medieval city, built by the ones who tried to conquer and instead were conquered by the world, built underground to unsuccesfully escape the horrors that once flourished above,so deep that the top of the cave seems to just not be there?
Build a cactus fence around your fort.
or a forest [editline]10th March 2012[/editline] actually, a maze [editline]10th March 2012[/editline]
I don't know a single person that uses the Nether for travel. It's just far too dangerous and unreliable to safely move from one area to the other. Creepers may startle you in the Overworld, but one wrong step in the Nether and what used to be your foot is now a lumpy ashen clump.
you could easily make a safe pathway in the nether, esp as ghasts are silly weak [editline]10th March 2012[/editline]
Not to mention where your portal is in the nether rarely corresponds to where the overworld one will be.
this is incredibly easy to fix,

Would be amazing if this was the kind of caves you could come across from digging. Would make exploring so much more interesting.
I've been working on a new sound pack, focusing right now on the thunder and rain, other stuff is experimental. I'm pretty proud of the thunder. (All these sounds are ingame) Any suggestions on to improve?

Usually when it rains in Minecraft, I just goto rainymood.com and turn off the ingame sound.
Decided to re try that seed, but this time spawned in a sapling to get me started, time to HARDCORE SURVIVE.
Anyone here ever gotten to the point where you are utterly bored of Minecraft? Any ideas on how to make it more interesting (Besides mods)?
I do, in that point I just try to get people on my server so we can build shit.

And?
And?
This is the giant secret that Notch talked about. He apologized on Reddit saying that he made this sound out of proportion.
We've tried adding secrets to the game before. Small things, like obscure crafting recipes or weird behavior, and everything always gets figured out immediately. No matter how obscure we make a new feature, it's fully documented within hours of a new release. This is awesome, and a great example of how dedicated some Minecraft players are, but it also means we can't really hide anything good in the game even if we tried. So a while ago, I did some intentionally obscure code in the title screen to switch two letters around, making it say "Minceraft" (old running gag, there's even a "minceraft" mockup t shirt design we did) instead of "Minecraft" on every 10000th game launch or so, and nobody found it! I was so happy about that, I finally knew something about the game the players didn't know. Flash forward to this GDC a few days ago, I'm doing an interview with Chris Hecker, and he asks me if there's anything nobody has found in the game, and I say yes. I should've said no, but I said yes. Then I start getting emails and tweets about it, people start getting excited, and knowing how minor the secret is, I try to tell people it's a very minor secret. That seems to fuel the flames. A reporter from a well known gaming site wants to run an article on it, and I tell him not to. Getting people hyped up about an intentional typo isn't really a good way to spend everyone's time. There's a lot of cool stuff to learn from this, though. One is that it IS possible to hide stuff in plain sight, but once people go looking for it, they will find it. Another thing is that people seem to want to get excited over things, even if you tell them it's nothing major. I'm impressed and relieved you found it. I won't comment on it outside of this subreddit.
Made an attempt at modern art. Also have some ~deep~ conversation that I incidentally managed to capture as well.
This is the giant secret that Notch talked about. He apologized on Reddit saying that he made this sound out of proportion.
Oh, I didn't even see it.
Well, it was a social experiment, and whilst it didn't give us anything amazing right away, it proved that Minecraft players are willing to search for secrets, no matter how obscure, which hopefully may yield new and interesting things for the game. I wonder if this "Da Vinci Code Syndrome" is in some way related to how Valve fans delve deeply to discover secrets concerning Valve games and try to find anything related to the myth of Episode 3? Also I hope Mojang's visit to GDC this year gave them ideas for the future of Minecraft after the Modding API. In related news, Scrolls will be Scrolls.
Here is a pvp anarchy server just started to let people play on something while 2b2t is down. 94.23.247.162:25655
Whenever I change my texturepack my entire game goes to a black screen. Samething when I start a new world. Anyone know why?
I still haven't gotten an answer...
I still haven't gotten an answer...
Is it an HD pack, 32x or more?
Is there a way to make a working Steam shortcut for 64-bit Minecraft?
