Well slab butter on me and call me late, I just noticed pistons have an "overheat." If they're used in a clock to constantly push and pull rapidly, they stop and hiss.
Don't tell me they've recently added this, that's retarded. "We've finally found a reliable fast clock you guys!" "NOPE no clox 4 j00 fgts"
Notch's explosion algorithm is quite odd. [t]http://puu.sh/l3EN[/t]
Not really, it just does traces outward from a central point. That's why you get the lines, each one of those is a single trace.

Works fine for me.
Not really, it just does traces outward from a central point. That's why you get the lines, each one of those is a single trace.
This. And it wasn't meant to handle large explosions.
I don't know if to say "false alarm" or if it's just something I ran into. A real clock turns pistons quickly. Whatever, it's confirmed now that it's a certain configuration that probably involves a redstone torch constantly turning itself on and off. This: Put torch here:
It's the torch that's "overheating".
Not really, it just does traces outward from a central point. But like ralle said, it's probably because notch had no intention of the size being this big.
I just logged into my server. This greeted me at spawn.
It's the torch that's "overheating".
Whew, that's a relief. I thought that's what it would've been but you never know in these updates, man.
Maybe I'm just stingey, but I think this would be a much better recipe for redstone lamps
pff, it doesn't stop this is spawn.
spent like an hour exploring an abandoned mine with a buddy, ended up with 90+ iron, 60+ gold, got lost, creepers kept destroying landmarks, so we tried to dig up and drowned. only managed to save 50 iron and 12 gold but eh, better than nothing

Break it.

I feel like there's not a lot to really find in Minecraft. I wish they'd put more effort into stuff to find exploring. The location you're in rarely seems to matter. I wish Biomes had a really significant impact on the game rather than just different coloured trees and a slightly altered terrain generation code. Gotta stay warm in snow, gotta stay cool in deserts, that kind of thing.

And about my problem, yeah, it's the torch overheating. Just checked the wiki. Doesn't make as much sense as pistons overheating.
[t]http://dl.dropbox.com/u/41041550/Minecraft%20Pictures/2012-03-17_13.27.32.png[/t] Dat fps :v:
Specs?
For people who build the terrain can matter a lot, actually. The terrain usually presents opportunities, like the legendary mountain base. Besides that, a lot of people just prefer one kind of area to the other, like I like taiga biomes because I love snow. However to someone who doesn't like snow they would probably not like if the entire world was snow, so they add variety for everyone
Specs?
570, i7-950 & 18GB Ram
What do you use 18GB of RAM for?
570, i7-950 & 18GB Ram
18GB RAM? Isn't that a bit excessive, considering Windows can only utilize 16GB?
18GB RAM? Isn't that a bit excessive, considering Windows can only utilize 16GB?
You are wrong about windows utilizing only 16, it can utilize up to 64 from what I know. The plan was to get 2x8GB of ram for my upgrade to Ivybridge soon, but I couldn't wait with the ram so I put it in my current build. Now that I won't upgrade, I might buy a kit more to get the same type of ram in all slots.
its ok you can stop trying to show off your e-peen
its ok you can stop trying to show off your e-peen
Someone asked.

Anyone else meticulously plan out their structures on paint? [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/lDKSX.png[/img_thumb]
Anyone else meticulously plan out their structures on paint? [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/lDKSX.png[/img_thumb]
I just build around my first-night shelter after I've got enough materials without any excessive planning.
Anyone else meticulously plan out their structures on paint? [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/lDKSX.png[/img_thumb]
I don't have the patience to do that, honestly. By the time I finish that picture I look at my material stocks and say, "I'll just make a watch tower in the corner."
Glass blocks not being obtainable with Silk Touch will probably be fixed by Jeb. Glass panes were never obtainable using Silk Touch as far as I know. Dinnerbone fixed these bugs for the next version already:
By simultaneously removing a redstone torch and pushing a block, the block's metadata value can be changed. Destroying a painting while sprinting duplicates the painting. If you place 4 saplings like this with a ceiling above them and you use bonemeal on the jungle sapling, when updated, the other saplings will turn into jungle saplings. Sometimes mobs will become temporarily immune to player attacks. So, I was messing around with SPC, and was replacing a village with wool. Well, when I went to replace the cobble stairs, I forgot to add what I wanted them replaced with and this is the result! [t]http://i.imgur.com/MZpOz.jpg[/t] Actually a pretty cool village now!
