Pixel reality
I honestly think Sphax looks ugly quickly
It doesn't look bad as long as you are moving around.
Okay, does anyone who uses Dxtory to record know how to put both my mic and the game audio into a single stream like how Fraps does? It's considerably irritating to have to use 4 programs just to get a compressed video.

Thought this was the "What you working on thread"
I wish minecraft had Finite water, so dams could actually be useful.
I just got a neat idea; let's assume that the endermen are eternal slaves of the enderdragon legacy; they build the obsidian towers, and when their master falls they rebirth the egg and rebuild the towers, and they do this for all eternity. Well, when you go to the end and destroy the ender dragon, you have a choice; destroy the egg, and banish the endermen from the end forever, turning it into a resource-rich paradise. However, in the overworld, endermen will spawn much more frequently, and will always be hostile, and will be much stronger. You can leave the egg, and the endermen will remain neutral, but you will not have the renewed end.

But surely if you've freed them from this eternity of slavery they'd be less hostile towards you?
They're not like humans. They are made soley to serve the ender dragon, it isn't slavery as much as it is servitude.
So I recently got that Technic Pack thing.
I was wandering through the desert when I found this:

Can someone tell me what the hell it is?
Jungle Ruins, though that's at the point where a fan is updating it (still my favorite x16 pack), and John Smith.
I can't believe people are still using and updating our pack. Nice to know people like it that much, although it's pretty much dead in terms of ever getting officially updated again.

Oooh! Ooh ooh ooh! It's something from Thaumcraft, a magic mod.
Ancient Obelisks

These dark monoliths are found quite rarely, and are usually found in or near areas of high thaumic radiation. They have interesting effects if incorporated into your vis processing operation, but are quite dangerous to move ? unless you build your operation around them.
Moving these obelisks require a most delicate touch, and even then their disassembly requires care and logical thought. Assembling them is just as treacherous.

Occasionally these monoliths can be found in groups of four surrounding a strange, dark altar. The air crackles with mystical energy and it is unknown what secrets these altars guard. More often than not one or more of the obelisks is incomplete which may be for the best ? who knows what will happen when a circle is completed?
OH SNAP! You assembled one? What happens? Break one, and it explodes into an inferno more powerful than a creeper's on hard difficulty. From full diamond armor and full health, the explosion reduced me to half a heart.
Is there a super basic / smooth looking texture pack out there?
Non HD, but sort of like basico.

I remember that one pack, Chaosd or something was really smooth and 16x. I don't know what happened to it, it was made by one of us facepunch users too.
Also, just started this. I think it's going to look really cool when it's done.

I like it. Reminds me of old N64 terrain textures.
So I'm sure this is old news and I'll be stormed with clocks, but this is something we've basically confirmed.
For the past few days, my friend and I have been trying to find slimes - we'd be exploring caves, and we'd hear slime. We'd spend maybe an hour looking every possible direction, but never find them. We eventually just started to ignore the sounds of slime and the lies of their promise.
However, today my friend and I confirmed this: it appears that whenever you approach (in a server, anyways) a pool of lava, the slime sounds start. This is regardless of depth, as the following screenshots reveal. The screenshots without any lava on-screen are where we heard slime sounds. The following screenshot, then, is the same area, but with the lava discovered.

Can anyone else verify this bug, or is it only for our world? The only mods we have are the Rope mod, Telescope mod, Vertical Redstone mod, Baitbox mod, and Backpacks mod.
This is both a useful bug, and an annoying one.
It's useful because whenever we're walking along, if we hear slime, then we know there's a pool of lava in the immediate vicinity.
It's annoying because it makes finding slime very hard now, because it's hard to differentiate between the lava-proximity slime and actual slime.

Isabella is absolutely amazing.

Are you mistaking the sound of the lava popping with slime sounds?
-OMGWUTIZIT?-
Must we keep saying lava makes a boiling sound?
Are you mistaking the sound of the lava popping with slime sounds?
Lava makes sound now? Since when? :v:
Must we keep saying lava makes a boiling sound?
Forgive me for not reading 60 pages to realize this, since it's not in the 1.2.3 or 1.2 changelogs.
I don't know how you mistaked the lava sounds for the sounds of wet fapping slimes.

Because it sounds very similar to slime, when you haven't seen slime in a few months, due to only now getting back into Minecraft to the point you find them?

I guess you could mistake them if you have not heard slimes in a while.

Those aren't slime sounds. Those are lava *bloop*'s. Different sound entirely. Official feature, by the way.
assassin_Raptor and MeltingData, your avatars are cute!
Just had to let that out.
So, now that my question has been missed twice, and the thread has slowed down, I'll ask again:
Does anyone know if there's a mod or something that makes worlds generate taller, what with the increased map height and everything. I like to build Dwarf Fortresses, and don't really like to build up, so I keep looking for some amazing "taller than the clouds" mountains, but Minecraft doesn't generate them, even though it supports that.
So yeah. If it exists, could someone post it?
The extrabiomes mod does it to an extent (If you're looking for 'dwarf fortresses').
There are 2 things I didn't even realize while using Better Enchanting mod.
1. You can repair items without losing all the enchantments, but the item must be enchanted and damaged before you can repair it.
[t]http://i.imgur.com/Gzjvu.png[/t]
2. You can disenchant unneeded items for extra points. The amount of points you received will be less than the amount required for enchanting it.

Those are pretty cool, but completely removing the randomness is what I don't like.

Actually it spawned that way.
I was walking through the desert and I stumbled across it.
I broke the middle bit to see what it was, I deemed it useless, then I put it back.
So what can I do with this thing?
