I personally enjoy watching the yogscast, and I have been watching them for a long time now.
They have a large following, over 1 million subscribers...That's a lot of people. The more famous you are, the less controversial something has to be for it to get blown out the water.
People need to learn to not be offended by so many things, I mean, whenever I've been playing a game for 37 hours, and I take a peek outside, its something freaking stupid.
The controversies behind them can go suck it. People need to understand this is ho "famous" people are. I enjoy watching their vids only because they make them amusing to an extent. I am slowly losing interest in their vids due to all the behind-the-scenes stuff occurring. I think they will eventually disband and either: 1) No more vids except for those who do individual stuff, or 2) Lewis and Simon destroy Yogscast and create a newer, simpler channel which will in turn end their primary series "Shadow of Israphel." Either way, the community loses, but they may win if they choose option 2.
Would be possible.

Actually, thinking about it, it wouldn't be too hard. (I'm not too good with redstone, but still) If you have the area in about a 50x50 area (Which would might make a small game, but if you're good you could do well) You just need a cave spider always above the player, and if you enter an area the cave spider will be on pressure plates. The pressure plates will then send signals at all times until the player leaves the area with the pressure plates. It will be set up that there will be a timer that will stop tracking once the player leaves. For simplicity we'll say sanity works in 3 states, normal, decreasing, and insane, and then after that you die. If you enter the area with the pressure plates, you will start at normal, but once the timer goes long enough (Maybe a minute or so) it will go into "Decreasing" mode, and will start the 'heart beat' loop. Then after another minute or so it'll go into the 'Insane' mode, and a more intense loop will start. After another 30 seconds - 1 minute TNT will go off and the player will die. If the player leaves the area while on normal, the timer will stop and nothing will happen. If the player leaves the area on decreasing, the loop will keep going for a short amount of time, but will resume if he enters the area again or another 'danger' area.
Not sure if this is late or not, but I haven't played in a while, and have absolutely no idea what this is.
It's like a pink netherrack.

Anyone got a good creative server with no whitelist? I don't want the hassle of waiting, and I gotta build something big.

Whitelists can be pretty beneficial to a server
If you do it right like Profan does (aka a simple request form), there isn't any wait and it also scares off dumb griefers.
Any of you folks watching the Mindcrack Ultra Hardcore game?
I watch kurtjmac, the guy who does Far Lands or Bust, and he's partcipating.
Mindcrack is a server only for semi-prominent LPers, and they're having a PVP/survival game on a 2000x2000 map, ultra hardcore gamemode (no health regen except golden apples, no respawn). All 8 LPers went in for 3 hours and they release 30 minute videos every other day from their point of view.
I think it's awesome, cause you get to see the plans and actions of all the players and you know what's going on, but they don't. Gets pretty intense.
Episode 3 just came out.

About the cave spider, are you forgetting that Minecraft has little to no AI?
AI does the following.
1. Walk in a straight line towards the player. Any obstructions will stop this.
2. Do damage when a few feet away. (Skeletons exempt, as they shoot arrows instead.)

Where have you been for the last few months?
Also, cave spiders see through walls. How the player sensor works is using a cave spider to follow the player through the ceiling, so the mapper can design certain things to happen depending on where the player is.

Oh right.
3. Some NPCs react to others, like Creepers and Ocelots.
4. Night mobs run towards dark areas in the day.

Yes those too,but he means that some mobs no longer take a straight line to get to the player, and will avoid obstructions.

Gonna repost this, since it was at the bottom.

Creepers actively avoid pits, and will not drop down if it will hurt them. Mobs in general won't drop down a pit if it will kill them. The second statement is only true if it isn't chasing you, I think. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Also, zombies can use advanced pathfinding to chase you down and slaughter you. Even up stairs.
Monsters will always fucking find you before you find them and attack you, as opposed to you finding them in caves.

Update on this.
[sp]VintageBeef came out of PauseUnpause's Nether portal, into the cave that Pause and Kurt fought in. It's pretty much guaranteed that Beef and Kurt are going to meet up immediately[/sp]
I kind of wish etho went back into the portal into the portal, thus going into the first portal that was made, and then killing everyone who came out (Since it's only 2000 by 2000, there's a good chance that many of the people who go to the nether will share the same portal back, thus going to the first portal made in the over world)
Speaking of which, us facepunchers should host a Ultra Hardcore match :v:
I want a Dwarf Fortress mod. You play as a Dwarven Overseer, dwarves spawn around you, they'll run around unless you order them to do something. There would be a GUI for this, and some other stuff from Dwarf Fortress. Honestly, I just want minecraft to be 3d dwarf fortress.
Anyone know any quick ways to convert Indev to Release 1.2.4

That hardcore/highlander idea sounds fun.
Yeah, I'd be up for that, sounds awesome.
