the IGN review is such biased bullshit. They've been covering the game but at almost every preview they've always had to include something about Call of Duty then when the review came they give a "Passable" rating. If it isn't a FPS title from Activision that the 12 year olds will clamor for then they will obviously give it a bad score.
IGN is a bad reviewer, nothing new.

They mention CoD because it plays a LOT like CoD. Watch the GT review. They even have the same controls "button for button". It's traditional fare to compare something of one genre to the best of that genre. Has been going on before video games even had professional reviewers. Also heh, implying 12 year olds aren't going to be buying MoH.

Professional gaming company disagrees with my opinion on an awful game, bad reviewer :downs:

It has the same controls because those controls work. And CoD isn't the best of the FPS genre.
Oh and IGN can be paid to give games better reviews, don't deny it.

Truth is, the game could be ALOT better and not look like a copy from other games.

the truck chase on the airfield

In the mainstream, CoD *is* the best of the FPS genre. I am really sorry that doesn't fit into your edgy, indie, "I don't play popular games" world, but it is. Bad Company 2 is close competition but the fact that Modern Warfare (the first one) came out first means it will be referenced more. Also,

So sorry that you had the wool pulled over your eyes by Activision. It's not 'edgy' or indie, anyone who has good taste can see how shit call of duty has got since 4.
I don't know about you guys, but the game is surprisingly good IMO. The guns feel very nice, even though there's that 'no recoil' thingy (they bounce around just don't go up), and the sound is quite good too. It has a slight realistic feel to it, which I like, there's also gore, and the best thing ever: firing modes. Just played the first two missions in sp though, if I had to choose between the sp of MW 2 and BF BC" I'd choose this.
Yeah, and "anyone with good taste" is clearly the minority as Modern Warfare 2 absolutely shattered entertainment records. Specifically sales records. This means that suprise suprise the game sold a lot of copies, which in turn means that a lot of people looking forward to a professional review of the next AAA shooter will want to know how this compares to the game they are currently playing. Therefore it is in the companies best interest to compare the games, because that means more people interested in reading the reviews, which means repeated returns to the site, which means repeated ad revenue.
This isn't me being a fanboy, this is me knowing how brand recognition works.

Is it surprising when your main market are a bunch of 12 year olds who'll lap up anything with Call of Duty on it? Anyone can gain the trust of thousands over several years and then sell them any old shit and watch them buy it, why do you think people still buy Halo?

Implying 12 year olds won't buy anything that has an assault rifle on the front of the box
Implying Halo is "any old shit"
Implying game developers that last several years in this market aren't just really good at their jobs (Bungie, Blizzard, Infinity Ward)
Saying you don't like CoD or Halo is fair game, as that is your opinion. A lot of people share it. But to call a professional reviewer (someone who's best interests (ie, putting food on the table and paying the bills) lie in writing fair reviews) "bad" because they reference another game of the genre really shows how ignorant you are of critical analysis.

Professional reviewer sure, doesn't mean they don't get bribed to give good reviews...

That's how modern military rifles work unless you live in times before the first world war. All rifles are now designed to make the recoil go into your chest not upwards. It's also to be expected, you are holding the gun to your body quite tightly (not all loose like like in other FPS) which means you are fighting the upwards movement.

Yeah, yeah, I just mentioned it because I remembered someone saying that it seemed really bad that the gun stayed where you aimed at in the videos, ie no recoil. It doesn't bother me in any way.
8.1 from gametrailers, good graphics, looks fun, i'm gonna get this.
I don't trust reviews from "review sites", solely on the reason that they are all shit and biased out the fucking ass.

some are, its obvious that rockstar bribed gamespot like fuck with gta 4, cause that game was shit, not even close to 10.
not all sites are biased, i like giant bomb and gametrailers.

You're out of your fucking mind about GTA4, but either way, MOH is pretty mediocre. I would have preferred another WW2 shooter (we won't see another one of those "good" WW2 shooters for probably another decade thanks to MW2)
Eh too late to cancel my preorder, might as well have fun with it.

Sorry, but GTA IV is one of this generation's finest games.
Back on topic:
As I expected this is getting a pretty rough reception. IGN gave it a 6/10, VG gave it 5/10 and GR gave it 7/10.
The 8.1 Gametrailers gave it is most definitely way too much for a game that consists of a 5 hour singleplayer that has no new ideas and fails to perfect any of the ideas they borrow from other military shooters, while multiplayer is just a dumbed down BC2.

Sorry but you're wrong.
So is this game good or what.
Nope.
it's okay but not great
I was either getting this or Brink. I still can't decide!

Brink. I know I like the look of this, but I'd still get Brink. unless you can put up with terrible MP or don't mind paying for a rather long SP (by todays standards anyways.)
Brink reportedly has a good multiplayer, and that's reason enough to get it over this.
