Would be much better if it was centered around the L4D universe.
They already have the zombies for it.
Don't call that Adrian Shepard. I mean, it was great, and I enjoyed it, but that is not canon to Half-Life at all.
Would've been better if they hadn't gone with a half-life theme and just came up with another name for the combine, the incident, and a few other things.
Wow. The video got liked by Valve's channel. That's pretty impressive. It was a pretty good video, I really liked it. It had it's flaws, but they didn't take away from it, and I think it was what I was expecting, if not more.
It was pretty good for a low budget film. Then he got his fucking katana out.
I just came.
let me tell you that was epic!!
It's rather seems like someone had nice effects and put valve games in it.
Straight from my comment on the other thread:
Being a developer of the OpFor 2 mod I'm disgusted by how they added ninja moves to Shephard. I also hate how cheesy the combat looks, and what the hell is up with the zombies? The fat guy would have been the first to be left behind, or die in a combat situation. The voice actor for Shephard isn't the best either, he was a really pumped, big marine back in OP4, I always expected his voice to be deep and manly, but these guys made him a 18 year old. Instead of doing an intelligent piece of work, fidel to the saga, they just put as many special effects and horrid, cheesy and polluting CGI they could, making the movie a cluttered, un-realistic job. Then decided to take "artistic freedom" on it and saying that the movie "is not HL, HL2 or Opposing Force", while they're using a lot of the HL saga on it, that includes Overwatch, Shephard, rebels, medkits, Aperture, grenades, and so on. That is just an excuse for mistakes people are bound to point out, which pretty much take over the entire film. Call me a nitpicker for complaining so much about it, but I'm not picking on small stuff, their movie is really a rage-o-tron for Half-Life fans. If they wanted so much "artistic freedom" then they should've made their own plot, and not barf over a nicely done one. These guys will never reach how good Escape from City 17 is, which again, used a lower budget than that. Overall, pretty entertaining for someone who doesn't know shit about Half-Life. Which means it's way below mine, and most of this forum's standards.
They should've contracted Freddiew for after affects work.
Headcrab-less zombies? Sword fight with a combine? The ending having Shepard kill himself? What the fuck.
More special effects than a Michael Bay movie. [editline]22nd January 2011[/editline] Personally I think this is awful.
That was horrible. Would have been better if they didn't include Shepard and three nuke-fucktons of bad CGI.
Bleh. I guess it's okay, but they went far too overboard on the effects. And there were so many parts that hardly made sense, like how he charges onto a street loaded with combine, or like how the combine don't just shoot him. And what's with the zombies? Why include zombies without headcrabs?
Need a gif of the combine pissing. :haw:
Great movie! Shame that it will take another two years before we see anything from them again. [editline]22nd January 2011[/editline] Also is this Shepherd guy present in the HL2 universe or is he just something that they made up themselves? Some comments on youtube say that you can see his name in Portal or something. [editline]22nd January 2011[/editline]
More special effects than a Michael Bay movie. [editline]22nd January 2011[/editline] Personally I think this is awful.
You actually think a group of seven people will have real explosions and whatnot?
There movie, there decisions and besides if they did what some of you wanted others would say it sucked. Theres no win win decisions in the movie making industry someones always gonna bitch.
I liked the part where he finished off the cyborg super ninja space alien Combine Metropolice Jesus with the crowbar. It was cool in all it's simplicity. The peeing CP what the fuck was absolutely the best though.
More special effects than a Michael Bay movie.
It even had the same colour filter and an equal amount of lens flares. I'd say Escape From City 17 beats this crap any day. Now if they only made more 'episodes'.
Need a gif of the combine pissing. :haw:
Please please someone do this.

He starred in Opposing Force, a HL1 mod which put you into the role of one of the soldiers.
Shepard. That's like saying 'Gordan'. /nitpick
I liked the fact that the Combine carried G36's, shows that they use leftover equipment.
They should call it "beyond left 4 dead with ninja fights and fat asians"
Where are the headcrabs?
Shepherd wasn't part of HL2, nor is he technically part of HL canon either. He starred in Opposing Force, a HL1 mod which put you into the role of one of the soldiers.
Opposing Force wasn't a mod, it was an expansion pack made by Gearbox for Valve, and Valve has already stated it was canon, as it showed things in it that happened in HL but were never seen by the player. (The nuking of Black mesa, which Valve SPECIFICALLY said was canon) [editline]22nd January 2011[/editline]
Where are the headcrabs?
The L4D zombies that we see in the move killed them and the headcrab zombies. [editline]22nd January 2011[/editline]
They should call it "beyond left 4 dead with ninja fights and fat asians"
And guys in gas masks. And suicide bombers. [sp]Reference to the end[/sp]
See, now the ending of this is just silly. The Grenades in Half Life don't have a big enough blast radius to take all of those combine soldiers out. :colbert:
It was good but then there was weaboo.
A weaboo is a person obsessed with japanese culture, aka ANIME IS THE BEST THING EVER. BAKA GAJINS DON'T KNOW SHIT ABOUT GLORIOUS NIPPON WITH THEIR MAGICAL STEEL CUTTING KATANAS. Is L4D2 weaboo? It has katanas too.
I like the reference to portal at 2:53
Guys, the zombies WEREN'T Headcrab Zombies (in fact, you see a dead Headhumper Zedhead in the safe house), they were Common Infected.
