It was well made and everything, but not that great, Ninja combine? no thanks.
I'd say the super kung fu katana shit was a bit weaboo.
Yeah the Katana part was weird, but still pretty impressive for a low budget film. I enjoyed it. They should make more.
I remember seeing the trailer a long time ago, nice to see it being released! Can agree that some parts where wierd but I still liked it.

The Grenades in Half Life don't have a big enough blast radius to take all of those combine soldiers out. :colbert:
Exactly.

He should have just thrown it and ran, with the amazing shooting skills of the combine there is a chance one of them will survive.

The CPs don't get trained and if they do it's not very good training, hell, even the Overwatch soldiers get barely any training! They're basically turned into transhumans, handed a gun, and told "GO KILL THEM!"

I wanted that combine to have a stunstick :saddowns:
I wanted that combine to have a stunstick :saddowns:
Me too. He starred in Opposing Force, a HL1 mod which put you into the role of one of the soldiers.
A HL1 mod?! Where'd you get that information? No, it was an expansion pack developed by Gearbox Software, and it was in fact their first game, and Opposing Force led to their success and then they made the Brothers In Arms franchise, and then Borderlands, and then DN:F.

[editline]22nd January 2011[/editline]
Opposing Force wasn't a mod, it was an expansion pack made by Gearbox for Valve, and Valve has already stated it was canon, as it showed things in it that happened in HL but were never seen by the player. Gearbox picked up from where 3DRealms fucked up and finished it And about the video itself. I thought it was kinda good. I didn't like the ending too and it could have been better.
-snip- how the fuck did that happen?
It was nice. The acting was okay, the editing was pretty good in my opinion. The only real let down was the fighting scene, it was really useless.
The door explosive blew the door towards the combine? what
It was awesome for an indie, low budget film, so stop saying it's shit, i mean 3/4 of facepunch can't do 1% of this. I'm okay with the fact it was a bit off the HL universe but well.
pussy killed himself

Great job, and it's nice to see something new.
It's a pretty good video film imo. But the ninja combine was like really weird. Also headcrabless zombies ruined it for me.
that was pretty lame actually...
ITT: People expecting Hollywood standards in an independent film
Mediocre, as I expected.
ITT: People expecting Hollywood standards in an independent film
The production quality was pretty good, I just expected it to be a bit more true to the half-life universe
And instead of rolling the grenade to the combine and get the fuck out of there when the explosion blinds them they kill themselves and take the combine with them?
It was pretty good at first, I even forgive the fact that how int he fuck would there be combine if its 5 years after black mesa, seven hour war took like 7 years after black mesa, before the seven hour war there were portal storms which teleported aliens in it and caused havoc until combine came and finished the world off. Also, the fact that they forgot that shepard was a battle hardened soldier, the technology the fat asian guy and the shitty zombies. But when the ninja combine came then yeah the film just jumped the shark. Combine are transhumans brainwashed and augmented, they dont know how to do hand to hand combat nor do they carry katanas. It was really cheesy, throwing off backflips and shit. Also, why a crowbar ? Shepards signature weapon is a pipe wrench. How did shepard even get to that chick to save her ? He probably picked up some combines uniform yes but how did he know where she was, also the ending was bullshit too. If the grenade is apparently some mini nuke why not throw it and then leg it. Pretty much my opinion is that it's bad, the cherography was great, the editing was good sometimes but it suffers from the micheal bay over editing. There pretty much wasnt even story, the characters didnt have any dialoge other than shephards narrative. Saying that does make feel bad because it took them 2 years to make it and quite lot of money. But if its 2 years, why is it so short ? Meh..
The editing was awesome, the scenes and the fighting choreo where good, the actors where good, the setting and equiptment was authentic and great... but there are several things what makes me not liking this video as a Half-Life based film at all. First of all it's the Zombie without a Headcrab. There are no classic "Zombies" in Half-Life... everyone knows that... EVERYONE KNOWS THAT. Then, as mentioned above, the timeline is incorrect. And then there is the pissing Combine... I mean... a pissing Combine!? Come on, they are transhuman, they don't need to eat, therefore they don't need to piss or shit. And why is there randomly HECU written on the map? The HECU was the military forces active in Black Mesa. I thought they just put it there randomly but it really bugs me.
Everyone's pretty much already stated what I would say is wrong with it too, but it was still a fun view nonetheless.
Yeah, I guess. [editline]21st January 2011[/editline] Dammit, they kept the headcrabless zombies! THAT'S STUPID AS FUCK!
Agree, I thought I was watching a Left 4 Dead spinoff for a moment there. I didn't even thought of HL2 zombies the moment I saw them. If they would've had headcrabs the link was made much faster.
I actually really liked the factory part where before meeting the asian guy they were building the suspense up. The movie shouldve been more like that instead of ninja combine kung fu fight yee.
