oh great, I just hit my internet limit, went back to dial up speed and THEN found out about this. great work me
I wanted to make it so that the play could switch gravity orientation and run on the ceiling or walls but not even a UDK Senior Developer knows haha.
PHYS_Spider - if your first impression is to think of things walking on walls and ceilings, you'd be partially right. This physics was intended to allow objects to treat any level geometry surface as the 'ground'. This physics type is rarely used, and even more rarely experimented with.
Maybe?
Your video did not really show the high point of the demolition aspect of the engine.
We need a main thread for the UDK. I think I will make one.
BTW guys, for those of you who are more used to the Source SDK Interface, I'm making a simple one for the UDK in autohotkey. But I require the program paths to Maya, 3ds Max, and photoshop. Anyone who owns these programs and is generous enough to give me the info feel free to post it.
You might want to make those configurable. because not all of us have photoshop or 3ds max.

Or installed in default paths.
This is an amazingly good idea. Think about it, get all future gamed developers used to and familiar with your tools, engine, and methods of development. Their breeding customers (Like MS giving out their development tools to students).
IMO all companies need to release dev kits for free to fiddle around.
Made a discussion thread about it: http://www.facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=842820&highlight=Unreal
A bit more official than a news report thread.

I'll stay here. It's quite warm.
Currently coding a way to reorient the play when running up to a wall or running into a wall. It would turn the entire world for that player and no other player. That way when another play runs up the wall a different way, the other player that ran up the wall won't be affected. Physics with objects won't be affected either.
My results with porting TF2 content into UE3. There's still some issue with the benches and when I spawn in-game they disappear. I'm going to try to add in the lockers and other base stuff as well.

that looks awesome,
does the udk, come with example content, like maps (similar to what valve does)
or weapon models/players etc?
Someone trying to make tf2 stuff in UDK? awesome, now we would have free TF2. :v:

It comes with all the UT3 default maps yes, and quite a lot of models but there's only 1 player model for looking up skeleton rigging and animation I guess.
And now for the star of the show! *drum roll*
Incredibly good, probably better than hammer. It can take a little getting used to how to do brushes, though, but the way you do it allows for very precise maps.
You shouldn't be using brushes for anything beyond the final touches. The engine is geared towards Static meshes, else you'll run into some serious rendering slowdowns.
They just need to release physx for free too! Because there's a physx mod for UT3, could be easily done for fuck shit up too!
PhysX is completely part of the engine.
Hopefully I can install it now.
Bumping because of Beta 2
Can't they just provide a patch? It'll take me forever to re-download 500MBs.
