Congressman get to propose laws and approve requests for citizenship. You can change tax rates and import duties on all products. You can invest the countries tax and import duties on specific businesses and individuals. You can set the minimum wage. Many parties use it to create a private bank which they can then use to make their party members or leaders wealthy. You can do all kinds of hilarious stuff like raise taxes really high and drive other players out of a country by basically starving the players and businesses. I'm game; what's an illegitimate goal? My current goal is to become a citizen of eSK, what's yours?
Aha. Whats a MMP or MPP btw?
Well I don't think we actually should aim at getting the most congress members we can. With the exception of monkey and abdul'allah almost none of us are experienced players that know a thing or two about managing a country or it's economy, so for now I'd be happy if our party will have several congressmen but not too many to make too big a difference, after will with great power comes great responsibility.
You are right, I also wonderd why we needed as many congressmen as possible because won't it give of a signal towards the South Koreans thats says: "WE BE TAKING OVER YOUR COUNTRY"
Whats a MMP or MPP btw?
I have no idea what MMP is but MPP is 'Mutual Protection Pact'. It allows people in one country to participate in another countries wars.
I also wonderd why we needed as many congressmen as possible because won't it give of a signal towards the South Koreans thats says: "WE BE TAKING OVER YOUR COUNTRY"
Not if you don't give those signals. If you don't have enough congressman your input won't be necessary nor will you have any say on anything else that goes on. At best you'll be a spoiler. If you have enough congressman the input of your party will be necessary on any decision. Plus, each congressman can only propose 2 laws and if you don't like how your predecessors have set things up you may not have enough in congress to undo it. OR, you may not have enough in congress to implement your own plan. There's some things you need to watch out for, though; the population has nearly doubled in one month. At the same time the average experience level has skewed towards the high end. So, a bunch of high-end players have entered the country. Why? I haven't bothered to check party affiliations on the immigrants but I bet most of them are the same party.
Actually I thought we wouldn't have much influence on politics even with getting as many congressmen as we can, since probably most of us would just do as we're told and vote Y/N based on what Spade tells us. The most active congressmen would of course discuss those things on the forum and gain experience and understanding of how one must act as a congressmen but still, I think if we get too many congressmen it'll only hurt eSK, as I said with great power comes great responsibility and the majority decides although in some cases the majority is wrong, so what we must do is make sure the wrong people don't get too much power.
didn't see this thread what's everyone doing
didn't see this thread what's everyone doing
Ladies and Gentlemen, its the legend himself, Justin Tyme. So how's the fight in Russia?
I'm game; what's an illegitimate goal? My current goal is to become a citizen of eSK, what's yours?
I think that you may be a decent guy but being associated with goons carries a bad stigma, especially in eSK. Also your contsant refrences to fucking over a country have me uneasy.
Well I don't think we actually should aim at getting the most congress members we can. Right now not all of the seats are full and I think we should take advantage of that. Having more congressmen makes us more recognizable and we hold more power (including more citizenship passes). Just getting in as many as possible now is getting our foot in the door for the lesser active of eSK to see. They could see how well we did and see that Facepunch is a real thing present in eSK. But it is also a friendly, nurturing, helpful community that wants to do good. That could boost our support and our numbers. Every congressmen helps us.
Actually I thought we wouldn't have much influence on politics even with getting as many congressmen as we can, since probably most of us would just do as we're told and vote Y/N based on what Spade tells us. On the eSK forum, all proposals have a discussion between all congress members before an in-game proposal is ever made. They usually have a poll too decicde whether or not the proposal would pass in game. This makes the country more effiecient and saves congressional proposals.
didn't see this thread what's everyone doing
I was wondering when you would stop by. Everybody, you are in the presence of a legend. Justin Tyme. Well right now we are aiding South Korea politically and economically. Right now its sort of a mess (they have a lot of history dealing with goons and theocrats and what not) and were here to clean up and make a difference. I know this isn't nearly as glorious are massive as your Germany Liberation but times are tough. We have less recruits and countries are stronger. This is a good goal I think for us to have. [editline]09:03PM[/editline] Oh and we still have a BURNING SPIRIT!
Fondue Im not saying your a bad guy, but as monkey saod your affilation is making me a liitle shaky on what your goals are, especially since you keep saying how to screw the country over, Thats not what were here to do.

If I leave the country as a native citizen and come back will I keep citizenship?
If I leave the country as a native citizen and come back will I keep citizenship?
Yes you can leave to anywhere and you will keep your citizenship until you apply for citizenship/get accepted in a different nation. This means that even if you are out of the country you can still vote in the elections and you will see the eSK news. Also welcome back Private Ryan you are always welcome to join us if you'd like. We could always use another experienced player.
We should seek to gain as many seats in Congress as possible. Every seat we don't get is a potential threat to the country. We need to have as much influence as possible to do the most good for South Korea. We also need as many citizenship passes as possible to get the rest of us citizenship, especially our older more experienced citizens that are currently around the world. No point in us trying to rebuild Korea as drones, we need to actually have some real influence to do any real good.
I just applied for citizenship.
Elgrand actually if we get any congress seats it means we've eliminated the goon's influence totally, it all depends on the party elections and whoever wins there wins the congress seats, it's basically an all-out competition, double or nothing.
I published my first newspaper article. http://www.erepublik.com/en/article/todays-big-news-1246206/1/20 Please vote and subscribe
Fondue Im not saying your a bad guy, but as monkey saod your affilation is making me a liitle shaky on what your goals are, especially since you keep saying how to screw the country over, Thats not what were here to do.
I understand and it doesn't give me any problems as I'm used to this stigma. Realize that every country that we have been blamed for 'screwing over' has actually come to us pre-fucked. In Turkey the country was pretty much run by Spanish carpet-baggers and when they and the insane Turkish nationalists realized they weren't going to get rid of us absolutely destroyed the economy. We basically inherited a near-corpse and only through pretty much heroic effort on our part was the economy resurrected. Even then the game admins ended up intervening and resetting the money. In Mexico we met the exact same situation; outside influences were controlling the country and when they saw us pouring in they tried to do the exact same thing as done in Turkey PLUS get a war started with Spain (whom at the time were a 800lb gorilla). Fortunately for us the Portuguese actually talked to us and realizing everything bad said about us was a bunch of scary bed-time stories came onto our side. The highlight of this was Spain and Portugal attack us at the same time and on the same region - the only bridge to which Spain could attack us - and despite Spain winning since Portugal was their ally a Portuguese soldier laid claim to the region! Because of this Spain couldn't attack Mexico and we were safe. Of course, after this we started to get bored. Some goons in I think eIllinois had some American spewing vitriol and claiming goons could never take over the state. So ... we poured in and took it over and the American rage-quit. A lot of goons quit playing at this point and whomever was left went to China, Japan, and North Korea. I could go on and on but basically our reputation is undeserved. Most of it comes in-game from players who have lost to us in the past or players whom have faced us in other games. I think, psychologically, it comes down to the fact that we would rather play against other players than against the game as most games are boring where as players are entertaining. Hell, eRepublik is a terribly broken game; I just learned today that when your company resets your salary apparently it resets your "you've played X many days as a good worker" setting so now I've gotta be here 29 more days to get 5 gold. There are so many things broken about the game it's no longer entertaining; a lot of them got fixed because before goons started playing the broken rules were being quietly exploited. We join the game, point out the broken parts, and the admins tell us that they're already aware of the exploits and are working on them. So we use them too and get banned. The other players exploiting them? Still in the game. I'll point out one of the biggest ones; sock-puppets. It was pretty standard procedure to have a small army of sock-puppets around and have scripts playing them every day. During the Turk war literally hundreds were used against us. When we fought back with them we got mass-banned. Those of us whom weren't mass-banned pointed out the hypocrisy and after a couple of months they finally started banning all sock-puppets from the game. I could go on and on. Like I said, at this point I have a few personal goals and will play to meet them. None of them require much active participation more than work/train each day. I probably wrote too much and nobody is going to read it all, but it feels cathartic to get it out.
I'm guessing regarding the sock-puppets the admins only banned those who were reported, and you were simply banned first because they reported you first.
Elgrand actually if we get any congress seats it means we've eliminated the goon's influence totally, it all depends on the party elections and whoever wins there wins the congress seats, it's basically an all-out competition, double or nothing.
Not necissarily. Let's say that the goons nominate 1 guy for every region. That means we can still put up our own candidates to fill the spots and we can still vote for them. Not to mention the wildcards. That can always change up elections. I also think that If goons win elections, pretty much only goons will vote for goon candidates. We could possibly swing outside voters.
Hey I just got this message: Military Orders -sniper- The thing is, I've gotten to level 14, so I should know generally what's going on but I still don't really have a clue.
Just dinged lvl 5 and i wanted to finally fight in a war but "There are no battles in which you can fight." how often there are wars in SK/alliance?
Just dinged lvl 5 and i wanted to finally fight in a war but "There are no battles in which you can fight." how often there are wars in SK/alliance?
There is supposed to be one running everyday for at least 12 hours. It alternates between the morning hours and the afternoon hours daily. This is how it usually works but don't be upset if it doest, another fight will come soon.
Fergeh that's actually kinda secret, you should edit your post and delete it and PM Spade who sent you the message about it, he should inform you of the current situation better.
-snip-
Starting back up playing again officially today. Moved to South Korea and published an article. For anyone who remembers, I'm Mark Wahlberg in-game. For anyone who is too new, now you know.
I'm guessing regarding the sock-puppets the admins only banned those who were reported, and you were simply banned first because they reported you first.
True, lol! Still, pretty hilarious to see them register over 500 players overnight and have them all named tukia001 through tukia500 and not get banned until we pointed out they were 'probably multis'. For some people winning is all that matters and fun is incidental.
You are whining about how you have an undeserved reputation but as soon as you enter eSK the signs of a PTO are clear as day. If you truly wanted to help eSK you could drop the bullshit and play like the rest of us and you could still have fun. If the game is so broken why don't you quit?
So you fight everyday once and heal for max wellness and save money on food?
So you fight everyday once and heal for max wellness and save money on food?
Kind of yeah. Fight as many times as you can down to 40+ wellness then heal at the hospital to take you back to 90+wellness. This is going to change soon though when v2 starts so make sure to get up to 90+ wellness asap.

If you loose 30 wellness in battle the hospitals will still heal that 30 wellness (hospital permitting of course) in V2 You just cant fight once and heal 50 in V2
