I thought it would be a fun idea to have Facepunch users post their Steam usernames, and what inspired them to name themselves that. I'm known on steam as: sUiCiDaLn00b I created that name from an interesting G-mod session a while ago. This was back when G-mod 10 was relatively new. I was just getting into G-mod, since I just had just bought it about 2 weeks before that. I join a random build server, Flatgrass. I see several contraptions, and, my interest piqued, I start to "browse" around, so to speak. Somebody asked, via chat, if someone wanted to test their "death trap." Bored, I volunteered. I'm not able to exactly recollect how it killed me, but I think it was some sort of crushing contraption. Anywho, after a few test runs of that death-trap (with 2 or 3 other players watching as I tested) a few other players started building their own traps. Some were as unoriginal as an NP cargo container filled with explosives, me at the bottom (needless to say after the initial explosion I was lagging for about 5 minutes before I finally respawned) or as interesting as a 10-tiered falling thingy, so each time I fell one level, I lost 10 health (this happened 10 times, until I died.) Now this is where it gets pretty funny (in my opinion). Somebody spawned an upturned big blue dumpster, supported on one end a street sign. There was a baby doll in the middle. The proprietor of that dumpster asked me to get his baby, so I went in. He used his Grav-gun to steal the baby away from me, removed the sign, and the dumpster fell. He finished it off by lighting the dumpster of fire, after a minute or two I burned to death, the entire server laughing, some via microphone, others with "lol." I tested a few more contraptions, then someone said "lol are you suicidal or sumting?" so I responded with "nope, just a noob :D." Inspiration struck me, and "suicidalnoob" became my name. The alternating caps-and-lowercase came for decoration and to make it seem even more noob-y, and the "n00b" instead of "noob" because thats how some people spell it. The name just sort of stuck, and I am still known as that today. For simplicity's sake, I'm referred to as "Suicidal." This was a few years ago. TL;DR: Few years ago I joined a G-mod server and tested random death-machines people created.
Mines Dr Pepper because I like Dr Pepper, no shit though.
hmm
A comic I drew when I was in collage. The main character was Vantes and I never use the name until I got steam.
E-Dracon The NPC started off as a stupid misspelling of Dragon, the name was taken and a website added an E at the beginning. I kept it. People mispronounced it as "EhDrahCon" so I added a -. Later, on a surf server, I was accused of aimbotting as a sniper repeatedly by some people that joined on a free weekend, so I added "The NPC" at the end.
No soup for you!
Colossal. My name because of my giant magnum. And I don't mean a gun.
I needed something witty. A brainstorming session led to it.
vanilla hovercraft forCandy Airforce Xavier Pod as extension for xpod1 Xavier Nixon from my retarded friends' nicknames for me
I saw Watchmen and shat bricks.
My friend called me a chonch one day. After smacking him, I asked what the hell it meant. Now it's my screen name on pretty much everything.
bobblyhead When I was about 9 and registering on some forum I can't remember, I had to make up a screenname fast. I saw a bobblehead on my desk so I used the username "bobblehead", but it was already taken, so I replaced the "e" with a "y". And, the name stuck for my Steam account. Of course, cerious is my current steam name because I use that name for most things nowadays.
Thanatos which means death in greek. TBleader because I am the leader of a almost-dead community named The Builders, I live in Tampa Bay, and Tuberculosis too.
On steam I used "Shadow Cross" mainly because it was a name nobody used at the time and I thought using the word Shadow in your name was cool.

hypertails787 Its been my internet name for ages.
Sir Cheesius It comes from my facepunch name and a group I joined.
Worlock, it's the name of a song by Skinny Puppy
Shank When I started Steam, it was this name, nicatronTg, which was created from odd childhood memories. I joined a group called the "Shot" brothers, but I needed a unique name that sort of matched it, so I went with "ShankShot". I think of it like hank with a S, not the object for shanking people.
Back in the day when CoD1 was still THE stuff, my dad needed a good name for himself for the multiplayer. He told me about it and asked if I could help him out, and after a brief brainstorming session with him, I came up with the name "Moottorimarkka" for whatever reason. Both I and him adopted the name and have been using it ever since. I think that was 7+ years ago or something... Classy and original, is it not?

Derived from how I always used the M249 in CS. Good times.
Herr Sven Quite obvious really.
My steam's name is Code Red. It originated years ago on an old HL server which I was hosting, partly with the nuke accident on it.
Just changed the second R to a G and Homestar Runner became Homestar Gunner. Sometimes my brother plays on it and changes it to Ted Scheckler. Its apparently a character some guy does on some radio show he listens to. Hence why I sometimes come up as Ted Scheckler.
Bobibbles Friend came up with it when he was high on something.
