Ugh, that's the most overrated FF game ever, if not the most overrated game of all time.
I think they're all over-rated past FFIV. [editline]10th February 2011[/editline]
A flower can be the most beautiful thing ever, but sometime a flower has to wither and rot away. But the flower's death is always followed by a small seed that finds its way to the ground, where it eventually turn into another beautiful flower that we can love.
The argument here however is that there is a group of people who continuously try to revive the old dead flower and they shower it with all sorts of stuff while ignoring the newly grown flower from the dead one.
The combat gets a lot better when you're a higher level, saying that you couldn't get into it says to me that you didn't get that far. if i had to judge, say, the first Star Wars movie on the opening 10 minetes alone I probably would say it was boring.
What level, for example? Because no one who had their whole experience ruined by the combat would sit through the tens of hours it takes to get to a very high level just because it somewhat improves at that point.
So technically, the old games were great, now they are rotting away, and the originality of them decreases. But in some years something new will find its way to us. Damnit, it would have been perfect if my auto-merge didn't fuck itself.
Lol your last post didn't make sense and you obviously haven't played the game if you're saying "regenerating health."
Jeez. It's the first time I ever post nonsense in this forum, gimme a break, bruddah. Then again, with the whole old vs new debale we've got here, those three words needed to be said in this thread sooner or later. .... and I was referring to Deus Ex 3, dawg. Don't be so trigger happy.
Jeez. It's the first time I ever post nonsense in this forum, gimme a break, bruddah. I could equally say, walk over healthpack, instantly healed lol.
What level, for example? And if you choose your skills and equipment perfectly, level Five.
Level Tenish, which if you know what you're doing can be reached fairly quickly.
Unless you've played the previous games...do you really know what you're doing? First time around.
You're missing the point... I was talking about Deus Ex... I dislike regenerating health because it's cheap and doesn't reward skill as much as health packs... that's my main problem with games nowadays. Everything's so goddamn cheap and easy. ...but this has nothing to do with the thread. I'd rather like to hear your opinion on my previous post.
Unless you've played the previous games...do you really know what you're doing? First time around.
Actually, Daggerfall is almost nothing like Morrowind and wouldn't help at all. Morrowind is also from a different time of gaming, when games were unforgiving basterds who laugh at your failure to understand how to play. Games these days are so easy you can't fail. Like Oblivion, which makes sure that you NEVER meet an enemy you can't kill.
Level Tenish, which if you know what you're doing can be reached fairly quickly. And if you choose your skills and equipment perfectly, level Five.
I'm between the two and combat is exactly the same all the time. How does it improve? Do you unlock new moves or something?
Level Tenish, which if you know what you're doing can be reached fairly quickly. And if you choose your skills and equipment perfectly, level Five.
Ok well let's just say I got past the terrible combat, and even attempted to do the "main quest" which in itself is as incredibly uninteresting as the combat.
Ok well let's just say I got past the terrible combat, and even attempted to do the "main quest" which in itself is as incredibly uninteresting as the combat.
If you don't like the Main Quest then do the faction missions, or explore random dungeons. Or just give up and never play again.
You're missing the point... I was talking about Deus Ex... Its not so much that old games are better, its more we want nostalgia instead of amazement at something new. Its similar to the old man going, "Back in my day..." Its a psychology, everything is better when you're younger because you hadn't seen it before. So its like, "BAAAAAAAAAAAW OH MY GOD THIS AWESOME!" When you get older, you notice the similarities to older games and newer games and automatically rate it clocks. Most older gamers seem to do this, its why games like Mario and Zelda keep selling, because they NEVER FUCKING CHANGE. In reality, hardcore gamers don't hate games because they steal old ideas from previous games, its because the new stuff the games add aren't good enough.
I'm between the two and combat is exactly the same all the time. How does it improve? Do you unlock new moves or something?
I was assuming that most complaints about the combat are relating to the missing.
I'd imagine that over time, only a few classics will remain. Hopefully Mass Effect will be one.
-snip-
Dammit you snipped before I could quote you :argh:
Dammit you snipped before I could quote you :argh:
Cause I doubled back on it.
If you don't like the Main Quest then do the faction missions, or explore random dungeons. Or just give up and never play again.
You don't have to tell me twice, at least oblivion kept me interesting for longer than 30 minutes.
The only two games that I treat like this are Ocarina of time and Golden Eye. I think that's everyone though. I went back to play Perfect Dark and was really sad I didn't like it anymore :(
You don't have to tell me twice, at least oblivion kept me interesting for longer than 30 minutes.
Quick question, did you play Oblivion first?
I was amusing that most complaints about the combat are relating to the missing.
I usually don't miss as soon as I got a weapon I have a high skill in, since level 2. The combat is shit even when you don't miss.
The combat gets a lot better when you're a higher level, saying that you couldn't get into it says to me that you didn't get that far. if i had to judge, say, the first Star Wars movie on the opening 10 minetes alone I probably would say it was boring.
I actually DID try to enjoy it. I played it for a couple of hours, but then I just gave up. The combat was just so awful and unsatisfying. But hey, that's just my opinion. I don't want you to change yours, I just wanted to share mine. [editline]10th February 2011[/editline] Oh and just as a side note, I never played Oblivion.
Quick question, did you play Oblivion first?
yeah but that doesn't invalidate my opinion of morrowind being overrated garbage
Nostalgia goggles theory
Except no. And that was exactly what my post was referring to (LOL NOBODY READS) I was born in 1987 and never had an SNES, a PS1 or a PS2 when they were "new". I also missed out on sooooooooo many PC games due to other limitations. My first Final Fantasy was FFX. I loved it. Years later I played FFVI (my favourite), then VII, then VIII, then V, then IX (boring, haven't finished it yet), etc... ... I played quake AFTER I had played countless hours of MoHAA. I played Baldur's Gate 2 AFTER Neverwinter Nights. I really got into SC1 AFTER I played hours and hours of ladder matches on Warcraft 3. I played through Monkey Island 1 and 2 in 2006. Thief, System Shock (1 and 2) and Deus Ex in 2009... the list goes on and on. Do you get my point now? Imagination. That's the only reason I can think of. I'm not a "better" gamer or anything, so why can't other people enjoy 'em too?
I usually don't miss as soon as I got a weapon I have a high skill in, since level 2. The combat is shit even when you don't miss.
It's not that bad, if the game was an isometric RPG no one would complain about the combat.
yeah but that doesn't invalidate my opinion of morrowind being overrated garbage
It does. That's the way it works with TES. Morrowind is the more complex, interesting and UGLY older brother while Oblivion is the dumb pretty boy. :v:
It's not that bad, if the game was an isometric RPG no one would complain about the combat.
yeah well its not so that point doesn't really matter hey if tf2 was an rpg nobody would complain about buying hats!!
yeah but that doesn't invalidate my opinion of morrowind being overrated garbage
Almost EVERYONE who played OB first couldn't get into Morrowind, sure you can still hate it, but I just had a feeling you were an OBer
It's not that bad, if the game was an isometric RPG no one would complain about the combat.
In isometric RPGs combat is usually much more fast-paced, which is why click-click-click fighting isn't as aggravating.
