D= 11 versions and it's still not for mac yet?
I find it hilarious. He's found a use for the same prop in the new versions so that's great!
The debris strewn about and the cleanliness of the buildings in comparison doesn't bother me, really. THIS does. Then again, chances are that's left over from how Valve made the map. If not, Fakefactory really sucks at that.
Well looking at that picture of the material sizes again it seems like he has no reason t-Oh no i've gone crosseyed.
CM11 Final is out now. I know why people hate on the character models they sure are shit, but honestly I think the maps look fucking great!
(7.98 GB)
god help us
I am hoping the torrent works...

The Combine are depleting the Earth's resources. They're not sending the Overwatch out to water the bushes.
So if the combine are sucking the life out of the earth explain white forest.
because white forest is in city 17
check out that unscathed tree in the middle of completely ravaged buildings
because white forest is in city 17
that made no sense. [editline]7th January 2012[/editline]
check out that unscathed tree in the middle of completely ravaged buildings
See now that is a better argument. I agree with you Juniez.
that made no sense.
it's called sarcasm bro
explain white forest.
I don't feel a particular need to explain the actions that Valve has already taken (compare the trees inside City 17 to the trees of the Outlands), but the idea here is that Outlands are outside the city's walls, hence free of the Combine's direct influence. It's nature running wild and it's in direct opposition of the Combine's ever-expanding grasp. There's some clear and deliberate narrative implications behind this choice. Do you think it's a coincidence that White Forest, the base of the human resistance, is located there? Of course, while the Outlands may be green, they're not exactly home to the most flourishing flora you're going to find. However, the issue here seems to mainly be the fact that you're not really familiar with Fakefactory's work. Let's just say this isn't the first time he's taken some twigs and pointlessly replaced them with an entire forest. [thumb]http://img100.imageshack.us/img100/1836/28702318.jpg[/thumb]
yes I know, I played through the last version of the mod. Too many trees
You would have to be fucken blind not to see, despite the non-cannon changes, that fakefactorys maps, from an artistic view, look alot better. And anything that makes me replay hl2 is a good thing in my opinion.
Yeah, if I could have just his maps, minus the over the top green and some of the debris in canals, I'd play them through again. also The early cost maps are no longer at night like in v10 which is nice, and no more 'where the fuck did that come from' bridge.
Before I play the mod I will be removing his character models, I only want the improved maps, is there any community made replacement models that would go well with this mod? im sure other people have done a better job at recreating hl2's characters.
-snip- read the thread, looked like it had so much potential from the screenshots, sigh
Before I play the mod I will be removing his character models
It comes with a utility that does that for you so it isn't that hard. [editline]7th January 2012[/editline] He had a "lite" version of the mod back for version 10, which was just the maps and textures, no character models. He stopped doing it, not sure why. Probably some bullshit reason.
mirror #2 got shut down. "Hello, I apologize, but we were forced to suspend the script /home/klaasman/public_html/downloads/fakefactory/ as the large number of requests has overloaded Apache, causing issues for the rest of the sites on the server. Please be aware that this is not a CPU or Bandwidth issue, but a traffic issue." So for those interested, please use the BitTorrent network to grab the mod to balance the load on the last surviving mirror, hehe :)
Great blog, would read again. also,
''feels good mon''
http://www.youtube.com/user/SolsticeSource Is doing a Playthrough of CM11, if you want to see how it is. Warning, He does play with the horrible Alternate NPC models on. (other then gman for some reason) the hell is with all the boxes in C17 He did add real reflections to floor of the trainstation... I don't think the floor is THAT wet.
If you think about it, all that rubble lying about is pretty realistic. The world was invaded, buildings got blown to shit. It's sensible that there are fragments of building scattered all over the place, since the Combine obviously don't care enough to clean up. Although I agree that since they used the same prop over and over it looks repetitive and stupid. They could've at least taken some initiative and and placed an assortment of different rubble props here and there...

Most of the damage within City 17 was caused by bombardment and fighting during the absence of Gordon and Alyx. However, he does go overboard with the whole rubble thing, especially in HL2. In EP1 it kind of makes sense because C17 is significantly more war torn than it was in HL2, which displays of his development laziness by spamming massive amounts of rubble and not balancing it out with buildings that are actually destroyed. Most structures still use the flat textures and don't have any actual detail, too. He also added a fuckton of unneccesary bullshit that just confuses the player because they cover up the path you actually have to take.
Torrent link doesn't work. [editline]7th January 2012[/editline] In my opinion people are way too caught up in how the models look, if you don't like them, then dont zoom in on them and examine them for 10 minutes. Just play through the game, and anything you don't like, then import something else? Like models from CM4? I did that last release..
yes it does kelloggs. it just tried rendering the file in the browser, as the wrong mime type was set. it should ask where to save it now.
Didn't Fakefactory ragequit FP at some point? [t]http://img266.imageshack.us/img266/7402/80235071.jpg[/t] That tree looks eerily out of place.
Yeah, he ragequitted because everyone started to nitpick those playermodels. Couldn't take it and his excuse in personal preferences/optionality was slammed to the wall.
[t]http://img266.imageshack.us/img266/7402/80235071.jpg[/t] That tree looks eerily out of place.
Welcome to literally 20 posts ago. EDIT: Besides the odd foliage placeage, the mod is actually pretty good looking if you get the "light edition" without the shitty almost-nude Alyx and combover Breen or any of the other reject character models.
