Well, the first Person Shooter of 2009 was Saints Row 2 in January.
I'm going to say L4D2, even though that's probably heavily based on it being brand new.
(That was a joke. The first Person Shooter, not First Person Shooter)
Saint's Row is not first person.
Halo ODST Shut up its my opinion
Modern Warfare 2 all the fucking way.
Funny how no one mentioned Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising.
It sucks ass.

:downs:
Every FPS released this year has been mediocre.
Therefore no awards should be given.
ArmA II and Borderlands.
Nah it's because those who voted me dumb are a part of the butthurt boycotters.
FP should have a: Read Before Bitch Rule.
Obviously it's got to be COD:MW2
I don't think COD:MW2 is as good as the critics are pretending it is, but L4D2 should be counted as an "exclusive" since you can only get it for the PC/360.
Arma II sucked shit so much that I gave it away (Awaiting boxes from fanboys). I'd go for MW2.
Authentic: Project Reality, why play Arma when this doesn't lag and glitch and has more teamwork. Not to mention the modes are more interesting like insurgency.
Arcade: Modern Warfare 2, besides IWnet it is an improvement over COD4. Insanely polished FPS.
Future shooter? Hopefully Tactical Intervention will be great.
Lmao. :cawg:
Try ArmA II, that'll change your mind.
Arma is one of the most boring games I've ever played.
Every FPS released this year has been mediocre.

This is the only real answer here. No game this year has really blown me away at all.
[editline]06:38PM[/editline]
ARMA should stop being mentioned in these threads, because it's barely even a game. I'm not saying I don't like it, but it can't be compared to anything on the market, so stop talking about it.
Personally I think that MW2 is good (very good) in every category, but it doesn't excel at anything, but it's solid and works well (most of the time anyways). Still it just doesn't feel right to nominate it best FPS of the year since it's an evolved (content-wise) version of MW1 mostly (it is a sequel afterall).
Authentic: Project Reality, why play Arma when this doesn't lag and glitch and has more teamwork. Not to mention the modes are more interesting like insurgency.
It has greater and more accessible teamplay elements than ArmA II, but PR has been around for a way longer time than the latter. (Since 2005-6 I believe)

ah I thought we were doing an all time sort of thing. It can kinda be still included though because of the large updates.

ArmA 2 is not a game where you randomly join servers. I've played in a tournament since it got released, and I have never had that much in any game before. It's awesome.

Yeah, PR probably has the largest amount of state armies depicted in a detailed manner in a game.
REMEMBER: 5 Years After Modern Warfare 1 judging that MW 1 is based on 2007, so the year in MW 2 is 2012.
I want more boxes...
¡¡¡MODERN WARFARE 2 IS THE BEST FPS OF ALL TIME!!!
I didn't like L4D2 because VALVe got rid of Zoey, Bill, Louis, and Francis.. I mean those guys are burned into your skull if you ever enjoyed L4D 1.
[editline]07:27PM[/editline]
But i'm enjoying MW2 even though theres some flaws.
Left 4 Dead 2
Give me a box and your a boycotter.
Crysis and Crysis Warhead. Yeah, I know released 2007, and 2008. Best FPS I've ever played. I don't care if it's only for the PC, 360 can suck it and the graphics still easily compare with anything released today.
My choices are these:
Authentic Military: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2
Massive Multiplayer: Battlefield: Bad Company 2
Zombie Action: Left 4 Dead 2
lol authentic
Borderlands nuff said
MW2 have at least long SP campaign better MP tell we will talk.
Arma is one of the most boring games I've ever played.
It's close but EVE takes the cake.
I'm pretty sure MW2 was the best FPS this year only because no FPS really stood out.
I have to say Borderlands and L4D2. They weren't amazing, but they were a lot better then most other things. Slow month.
Of course it has to be borderlands or L4D2
Okay, let us discuss the best shooter of 2009.
CONDITIONS:
1. Exclusives are not accepted, that includes: MAG and HALO 3 ODST (Excluding PC FPS, if the game has two platforms it is excluded).
2. No fan boys, please respect peoples' opinion or selection (JUST POST THE GAME NO MORE BITCHIN' ON OTHER USER'S SELECTION).
3. You can make a selection of specific sub-genre shooters.
Why the fuck aren't Exclusives accepted? That's bullshit rationale right there. If a game is good, it's good, it doesn't matter how many fucking consoles it's on.
