And if they took the time to develop for the PS3 they would still be working on HL2: Episode 1
And if they took the time to develop for the PS3 they would still be working on HL2: Episode 1
They could learn the PS3 inside-out in a month. Considering the fact that development on the PS3 games goes mostly to EA, it wouldn't cost them much at all.
The PS3 can be a great console, the problem is that it is hard to work with.
From several game developers, they have said that the Cell can be incredible if used right, but extremely hard to work with.
In fact, some PS3 exclusives were actually developed on the Xbox 360 developer kit because they found it so hard to use the Cell.
I myself have a PS3, and some games can be really good on it.
And Sony was saying that valve was mediocre.
I think, i read it somewhere.
It IS hard to work with.
Not all games run on the CryEngine, you know.
Valve supports the PC and 360 more because the communities are much bigger than the PS3's.
Not quite, Valve deliberately cut down on the quality of their games on those 2 consoles, valve support pc particularly since they run steam, I think(not sure) the updates on tf2 sure cost money on the xbox 360.

That is how the xbox gets more expensive than buying a good computer and games to it.
Microsoft's cover up seems to work. Smal console price but expensive use.
Valve is lazy when they have to do a translation. I would buy the Orange Box for PS3 If they translated it.
Anyway Valve is used to work for PC and Microsoft make OP so the Xbox could be similar to a PC (I don't know how a 360 work).
In my opinion the simple reason is that Gabe made these comments of hating the PS3 in 2007 when it appeared the console was a cataclysmic failure of vast proportions. Now however, it is very different as Sony have managed to salvage the system through price drops and new releases, and as an owner myself I dare say that there is a shit load more stuff you can do on the PS3 then we used to be able to do. It's a damn good console, but I guess Gabe can't turn around now and start producing for it. Plus I don't think he can be bothered, because he's fat
:(
If Valve wasn't full of lazy trolls, they'd be working on Half-Life 4 by now.
Yay, pumping out sequels to cash in on the name.

Price drops can't do much to help the PS3 tarnish reputation as an expensive console.I had a cousin who bought a PS3 and end up not being able to buy any PS3 games because he used up all of his money to buy the console itself. Plus Sony NEVER bundled up their console with any free games in comparison to Microsoft XBOX360 where they usually bundled it up with at least one FREE game if it's a special edition.
Plus Valve don't want to waste resources on the PS3. One PC update is incredibly long. I wonder how long would it take to do the PS3 version
The issue isn't so much of porting it, it's keeping up with it with updates. Even the 360 version of Valve games hardly get updates.
Well the problem is that updates can take a huge portion ram but we're talking about the PS3 here. The ram on the console is huge,
Valve, by this point, are just a bunch of lazy people that don't want to learn and stick to the PC. If they want to stick with the PC, they should just say so.

I remember when the rumor mill started running and it was about Valve and PS3. At first all the fans are like "Wow awesome, i love Gabe again." Then when the rumor was confirmed false they quickly switched back in to "That lazy fat fuck, i hate him."
This is how i see it? Why would you want a half assed shitty port? All of valve games are made for the PC and the PC community, hell even the 360 version of the game are not that great. Anyone who calls themselves a "Gamer" should know that.
PS3 is harder to develop for. Xbox 360 is essentially a dumbed-down PC, so it's easier to develop for. I prefer the 360 version honestly, the new weapons and stuff make the game incredibly complicated.
Though I wouldn't mind some new maps.
What are you talking about?
No they don't. They don't support the PS3 because they don't know jack shit when it comes to multi-threaded programming. That's the only reason. EA had to port the games because Valve couldn't.
If Valve wasn't full of lazy trolls, they'd be working on Half-Life 4 by now.
Serious face
Not lazy.
Unwilling.
Gabe != Valve
Valve is a team.
Yay, pumping out sequels to cash in on the name.
Actually, they said they plan on making more Half Life games after Episode 3, just with a different story arc. Might even be following a completely new character.
Gabe != Valve

This man is correct. Valve is a team, separated into three divisions, each of which have a design, art, and development team. There's the TF2 team which is organized by Robin Walker, the L4D team (which used to be all of Turtle Rock), organized by Chet I'm-Not-Even-Going-To Try-To-Spell-His-Last-Name, and the Half-Life team, organized by Gabe, who coincidentally is the head of Valve at the moment.

I used to think VALVe was evil when they hated PS3's
But then I got steam and now I don't care.
If you watched the video you would know why Valve isn't lazy, they just don't wanna waste another 6 years coding Source for the P23, its not Valve's fault, it's Sony's.
Personally, I find it hard to see why a company like Valve would waste resources busting their asses in order to port to the quote/unquote "console" with the least market. It would be more ideal and worth it to port to the Wii. You'd get more sales anyway.
And lets make no bones about it, I wasn't being sarcastic there. Quite literally the Wii dominates financially, and as niche as PC gaming is steadily becoming, PS3's business model and overall design has left them in dead last. On top of being essentially a Blu-Ray player that also happens to play a few games, which ONLY RECENTLY even APPROACHED what can laughably be called "affordable", Sony's grasp of online gaming is...well, Sony's grasp of online gaming, and in the end, "hard to develop for" isn't a big selling point to skeptical developers due to your poor sales, and when your system can basically be defined as the "Metal-Gear Delivery-System".
Maybe they could break through the Wii's graphical limitations?
Maybe they could break through the Wii's graphical limitations?
Imagine a Half-Life Wii game... Waggle to swing crowbar, wiggle to shoot gun.
Just because the Mac and the xbox is white

I wonder, how much HL2 would rape Wii with all those physics.

Anybody got a list of the Wii's specs?
It might be able to handle hl2. that would be quite fun actually

There have been some physic - games on wii, and pretty much all of them have raped wii. (they still work, though.)
+ Lets remember the fact, that source relies mostly to cpu.
