I have three theories on why the game may be this slow (Even on good computers). A: Bad physics calculation coding. B: Waaay too many rubble sprites. C: The game is purposefully slowed down to prevent too many calculations being called at once, which would result in a game crash, or more lag than this mode.
It's low FPS right from the start, before any proper physics are calculated. Also, this could be made so much better. Making your own buildings, placing dynamite... You could even get vehicles and use them against the tower.
Holy crap this is better than Red Faction, simulation wise.
Its just the demo, so there will be endless possibilites when the full thing comes out. You can make like 100 level high rise and watch it topple without a stupid fps cap at 24.

The building is physicalised from the start of rendering, so it's likely it's not as foolproof as Red Faction's Geo-mod2 because their building parts are frozen when not required. Some aren't even rendered before destruction.
Guys check out there other awesome shit: http://www.wildebeestgames.com/ They have a fucking climbing game with proper ragdoll control, climber fatigue and rope/belaying simulation, watch the first video near the end where the climber is fatigued and falls and swings on the rope whilst covering his head.

It's a nice toy. We did something similar in our gamedev class but because we were on 5 day timeframe we couldn't make it as fancy as that. :P And you had a trebuchet to fling boulders at the castle that would break.
I can make it collapse with 3 balls.
I can make it collapse with 3 balls.
Only one is really needed.
I can make it collapse with 3 balls.
I can Make it with 1ball edit:fuckin ninja
My FPS isn't low at all.
Good point there, but I actually meant the WASD movement, to get around. Would be nice to have a "sprint" option or something atleast.
On fun-motion he said it was limited at 25 and if you hold 'I' it shows you spare frames. Also use mousewheel to speed up movement.
Imaginae having a really huge tower, and it had been a deathmatch game. If you throw a grenade at the wrong place the whole tower would colapse.
Imaginae having a really huge tower, and it had been a deathmatch game. If you throw a grenade at the wrong place the whole tower would colapse.
No. Because grenades aren't that powerful.
This game is fucking cool, I run it with no lag whatsoever either :)
This also freezes when not in motion, if you had taken the time to look you would've realized this.
Not exactly, once I started the game and the whole building spazzed out, without me doing anything. Even in the menu.
http://www.wildebeestgames.com/kaboom.wmv Does that not make you want to be able to build? :v:

I like to pretend I'm a real person in the building when it collapses. I am realistic with this, too. I sometimes pretend I break a leg when I fall from really high. I also do stuff like getting knocked out.
The amount of exploding Penises would be phenominal.
Exploding penises, /b/ guy with suit, tri-forces, Chris Hansens, tits, testicles, and so on.
Sumotori Dreams but with buildings instead. All it is.
Sumotori Dreams but with buildings instead. All it is.
........ That's an entirely different kind of physics.
This is so much fun. It runs perfectfly on my machine, just with that FPS cap. It's not too bad; it's still very smooth, if not ideal.
Sumotori Dreams but with buildings instead. All it is.
errr...
it's a 9/11 simulator [editline]12:50PM[/editline] call the morality police
Also, a crosshair would be nice. This also makes me want Red Faction: Guerrilla even more D:
I'll admit, though, I don't think there was any over-the-top lag at all. Why's it rendered in software, though?
No. Because grenades aren't that powerful.
That's in real life, not in this engine.
