Define "self-sustaining" because if you mean heal, then thats something almost every support has

If you mean self-sustaining as in fighting, you could look into AP Kayle(semi-support, but still), Sona because her ult is great for teamfights, Janna too. The only support that can't fight at least a little is Soraka. And Morgana is great if you want to support in everything else but healing

Now if you mean self-sustaining as in mana regeneration, then Soraka has that move that gives her mana

Soraka is the definition of self-sustaining, and taric is pretty easy about mana too.

I'd say Soraka would be a good champion to start learning supports with. Cheap and relatively simple in her basic mechanics

Well, blitz+alistar both rushing ap in laning phase is op, and if you get stunlocked your so dead.

Was playing leblanc against this alistar who rushed some ap cause he got fed from our veigar, then i was like "whats this shit abuot" alistar headbutts and pulverizez me and i run away with my clone and 20hp.

Last moment, vlad stays behind, nukes me, nexus has 200 health left on it, all of our team goes for one big push, 100 health left, malphite alive, we lose to a push. 100 health siting on that nexus. No one can get there fast enough.

We kicked ass, so hard we made one ragequit. :D Support so awesome. Pantheon low hp? Soraka uses heal, low hp again? sona uses heal? still low hp? soraka uses ult heal? still low hp? oops zilean used ult, pantheon is now full hp. Sion was so mad, following us trough the map and then running to our traps and apparently malph got mad at this and left as we killed sion in our jungle after he chased kassadin to there. :D
