* R (ultimate): Maokai’s ultimate ability fits right into the current meta-game, where teamfights often decide who wins or loses a match. Think of it as the defensive version of Anivia’s Ultimate. Maokai creates a placeable AoE that drains mana per second while active. Allied champions standing in the area will receive more and more Magic Resist as the spell absorbs damage. It can be maintained as long as Maokai has enough mana, but it’s costly, so we never had it on for more than 6 or so seconds. When the ability is toggled off, Maokai’s cooldowns will be reduced according to how much damage was absorbed during the spell. If you soak up enough spell damage, you can reach a threshold that will, in essence, allow you to double-cast your other abilities as magic flows back into Maokai.
* Passive: Maokai’s passive gives him some decent staying power early on in the laning phase, when champions are casting spells to ensure last-hits and harassment. He gains increased health regeneration when champions near him (enemy or ally) cast spells.

Oh and everyone who thinks alistar is a "bad tank", try building alistar as a glass cannon. Incredible damage and survivality if you know what you are doing, and the cc is amazing. You can burst squishys too easy, and if you can time your skills right, you can headbutt and while the enemy is in flight pulverize so it will get stunned and fly up after moving to the direction it was head butted.
Is Cho'Gath worth the IP? I already use Gragas and Mordekaiser as tanks, but Cho'Gath sounds fun too.

if you're going to get cho'gath always go full ap mage, because his feast can do 800 true damage (plus your ap amount), or off-tank mage, if your team really doesn't have a tank at all

So the last game I had tonight was fucking stupid. They had a jungle Udyr who was the best tank I've ever seen. He had a Wriggle's, Randuin's, Force of Nature, Merc Treads, Guardian's Angle and Spirit Visage. This guy was the tankiest motherfucker I have ever seen in 850+ games. Nuking is from orbit would do nothing. The combined power of several African nations could not bring this guy down. It was a fucking sight to just see him stand around three of us and take all kinds of damage. My friend was a 100% crit Gangplank and his damage was cut by a third when attacking this guy. It was fucking awe inspiring.
Then our Jax came out of no where, we aced and pushed for a win. I'm really not sure what this Jax was doing all game because he never made his presence known, but he ended 20/6/something in the teens and pretty much won us the game. We would have lost without him coming out of fucking nowhere. That
Udyr tho...fuck man.
I just got this game and the one champ. that stuck out with me is the barbarian king, currently saving up to purchase him; though I haven't played him yet. (Galio is pretty cash)

Tryn is one of my top 5 most feared heroes when fed, but you have to be vs. a team that's retarded. After you blow Endless Rage you really should expect to die. Ignite, Exhaust, any kind of CC, DoT's, etc. He's fucking squishy.
