Not really, you can go with a pure tank build. It's true that nobody can really hurt you but then you can't really do anything either. With a pure tank build your abilities will be totally useless as well, 'oh cool i can heal for 100hp with my E, how useful...' :rolleyes:
no. a good jax negates all your bloodrazor damage with his ult (mr motherfucker) and stuns you for half of the fight. you're not going to be doing any damage, and since your only AS is bloodrazor and your W (which you are stunned half of the time) you're not getting any lifesteal either.
by the way, if jax runs with ignite he will cut your healing in half - same with exhaust.
AND if he has QSS your ult does nothing. grats. an autoattacking champion can not beat jax in a 1v1. that's how he was designed.

You have to understand that each death you give the enemy team makes them that much stronger and more difficult for the rest of your team to defeat.
If you're still learning, the best thing you can possibly do is avoid dying at all costs, while learning from players that are doing well.

Did you actually just call ali's abilities useless because they don't do damage? Sorry for coming off as an asshole, but oh my god. Yeah a mini-malphite ult and the ability to literally feed your team a free kill or stop an enemy champ from wrecking your team. yeah so useless

With those items you can take away 70% of tankiest tanks' hp in like 4 seconds and you still have room for a pair of boots and an additional defensive item.
And you'll have sheen/triforce procs and crazy base damage, so you're not really all that ignorable. True, you don't shit out Seismic Shards, but you can bring some pain.

Cait harrasses vlad to oblivion, malph and udyr(jungler) try to tower dive him in succession... They both die and cait gets away w/ 14 health and a kill on me.
Rest of the game consists of me focusing cait and screwing over gank attempts (clairvoyance gankers before they get in position and teleport to a gank mid where vlad and udyr tried to kill anivia... Yeah she went egg, I tele in, we kill them both)

The way I see it, he's kind of like Urgot: if you flash in to headbutt or pulverize, you'll often trade a kill for a kill unless you build tanky.

But really, I see it as the easiet way to making an AD Kayle. I have to have my AP on Kayle in the earlygame, so skipping earlygame to the classic madred jungle build, then zerkers, then AD stuff might be smoother and easier, and provide a jungler if the team would have gone without one otherwise
Its a theory I find worth testing. Might test out Dorans stacking to carry me over to the AD phase, but I might as well give it a shot (in a practice game, ofc)

You wouldn't believe how many easy kill you can get with this build because everybody underestimates alistar. I can't count the number of times when an enemy thought he can take me out with 50% hp but to have me ult (for the dmg buff)--> flash --> pulverize --> autoattack--> headbutt = ~1500dmg and kill him.
heck, i can't count the number of times when enemies low on health thought they can attack me but got one shot with my pulverize/headbutt. People don't expect tanks like alistar to have a significant dmg output which you can use to your advantage.

It's not terrible, it's just sort of silly. I can see it being somewhat effective if you get the full build together, but you will never get that much farm or get that fed with alistar. If you're using Q to farm you'll need massive mana regen and CDR early on, which you don't have and which doesn't seem to really even work into any type of AP ali build.

That's why you go for glacial shroud after building your sheen and you have cdr and mana regen in your runes and masteries.

Main problem I see is that she has an ult that should be used on teammates, unless you lane once you hit 6 (bleh) and a heal as well. Plus Kayle ganks are not especially terrifying.
But you can try it
I usually get around 11500 gold as ali which lets me buy 4.5-5 of those items.

He's such a slow farmer, though, that the game will be close to over once you get those items and boots and you won't have time to get much AP to make Lichbane worthwhile. Basically you've built standard tank Ali

Glacial gives you 20% cdr instead of 15% that the boots are giving + mana and armor (basically everything alistar needs). Swiftness actually let's you get close to the squishies so can pulversize. Hourglass gives you armor and AP = so goodd
