Eh, I still can't shake that bad feeling I get every time I watch the trailer. The character models and interiors are ok, but there are a few moments when they show the outside environment that it feels like watching a WoW video (way too colourful).

And the HUD is pretty much identical to the WoW one.

There needs to be explosions and blood everywhere. Everything should be shaded as grim and dark as possible.
Hell, it should even rain blood.
No, but the guardsmen strength is numbers, so players should be allowed to play 20 people at once.
Why not actually, maybe you can have like a squad of NPC's with you?
Also, where are my goddamned eldar?

Maybe that's one of the quest lines.
-MARINE, THIS LANDSCAPE IS TOO GREEN, FIND SOME ORKS AND SPREAD THEIR INNARDS OVER THE TREES. MAKE IT FEEL LIKE HOME.-
Personally, it would make more sense if you started as an imperial gaurd and after getting to a certain level, (about a month worth of playing 2 hours or so every day) then you get the option to become a spacemarine. This of course would be the result of choosing the "goodies" option in the beginning.
If you choose the "Baddies" option then you start as a heretic, and get turned into a demon at level 20.
But thats just my opinion.

No and no. People who become Space Marines are chosen from the Chapter's home world, and are picked at a very young age. That's breaking too much lore.
[editline]28th December 2010[/editline]
Also about character models being ok and then complaining about the landscape, look at the Nurgle demon in the trailer. It has metal where it should have organs hanging out. Either they're going for a T rating (ugh) or they don't want to have to make separate censored versions for certain countries.
I hope they don't make Dreadnaughts pilotable - or if they are you shouldn't be able to get out.
Maybe,if they were introduced, they could work like Death Knights in WOW:you hav to get to a certain level to make a character as one.

That didn't do anything other then point out a few extremely obvious things.

A dreadnaught itself isn't really a character though, and it would limit alot of gameplay.
Theres no way i can see pilotable Dreadnaughts working that doesn't do something wrong - only severly wounded high ranking Marines are put in Dreanaughts.

I think that's what he means. At 'x' level you decide you make your space marine a dreadnought. He is then "sacrificed" and turned into one. Your are now slower, stronger and more well defended. You are weak to guerilla attacks and fast enemies who will be able to run circles around you. How about that?

Yes but that would limit alot of gameplay - no more vehicles, less instance choices, groups etc. But still, that is pretty much the only way i can see pilotable dreadnoughts working.
Still...i can't see pilotable Titans working either.
So, I'm thinking here. This may be babbling nonsense that completely defies the lore; I regret admitting that I play Space Marines and are only (decently) familiar with their lore.
Space Marines might start as scouts, right? Initiates into the order who earn their armor and training. Perhaps you could become a captain like hero at some point. In order to balance things, I could easily see Imperial Guard starting as conscripts, working their way up to the traditional guardsman, then up to Kasrkin. I may be wrong, but isn't a Kasrkin soldier on par (at least in skill, not equipment I suppose) with a space marine? Then maybe a Commissar or Psyker, whatever you choose. Chaos would start as heretics, then work up to a marine where they could maybe choose a god to serve, I'd love to see Nurgle plague marines, Khorn berserkers, Slaanesh daemons, Tzeentch sorcerers. It's just one thing that always unnerves me is that Chaos is such a unique army, in the sense that they have four different gods, each with entirely different champions. I get tired of the same old Tzeentch guys being depicted in the games, as cool as they are.
The whole "tree" progression style is mostly already done by the lore, I mean each army seems to have cannon fodder grunts who can eventually become the elite troops.

Broke the lore in atleast those two places. Either you have warp powers or you don't, you don't choose. And if you do, you get drafted as a Pskyer, again it's not a choice. Commissars are trained from a young age.
Cultists can't become marines. They're just fleshy meat bags that can be sacrificed (sometimes) to summon a daemon.
People please look up the lore first.

Yeah being a cultist would be useless unless they did a mission where you and npc cultists are sacrificed to summon a daemon and then you are able to play as the daemon or something.
Personally I would love to play as Fire Caste Tau but not sure if I see that happening.
I really just hope it doesn't become

There are no "goodies" and "Baddies". There's the Imperium, then there's everyone else. The most "good" race would be Tau, but even they probably have something to hide.
It will probably by like every other MMO: Choose a race, then choose a class. Although they have said there will be some progession - think i even read you start off as a scout for space marine.
In the first video you can see you shooting over shoulder third person with a crosshair.
Please oh please oh please

Before the trailer was even released, one of the two things we knew about the game was that it was a third person shooter. The other was that it was a 40k mmo. Hell, we didn't even know the title.

It will most likely not be an actual TPS though, it will still be like an MMO.

None of the races in 40k are good by any means. The Tau are a bunch of Imperialists that are going to kill you and your entire planet if you don't assimilate into their empire. While I am an Imperial Guard player all the way I think the closest thing to a good guy you will get is the Eldar simply on the grounds that their main objective seems to be to stop Chaos and the Necrons. That's somewhat canceled out by the fact they would sacrifice billions of humans or any other race over a small portion of their own.
Pretty much agreed Dispenser, the Eldar are probably the most "good" if you consider their combating the larger evil.
Wait, didnt they help create a chaos god in the first place?
Only because they were a bunch of horny little bastards :v:

They accidentally created Slaanesh.
Ah that was it, and the Dark Eldar are the crazies. So really eldar are just cleaning up their own crap. Thats why 40k is fantastic, no race is morally just, their all sorta, shades of grey.

Giving them a choice is better then just killing everything on sight. I can't remember any actual proof that he tau do that, but it's been a few years since i've actually been up-to-date with W40K. The Eldar aren't good - yeah they are trying to stop Chaos/whatever and are a dying race, but they do it wrong.
The Eldar are like this: Your neighbour MIGHT have Termites in their house, but instead of going to warn them about it so they can be dealt with, just burn the entire house down because there is a chance they will get to your house.

You can do it without breaking any lore rules, see; Your character doesn't have to directly transform into the new tier, but say you then had the option of making a new character/replacing your current one with the next tier?
Example: Play as a guardsman until level 20. At 20, you get the option of creating a new Space Marine character. Another possibility: you delete your Guardsman and replace him with a new Space Marine character.

There is no innocence, only degrees of guilt.

Space Marines are seperate from the Imperial guard, so why should leveling a Guardsman allow you to make a Space Marine?

Space marines are their own law and they do their own thing (most of the time) What would the IG have anything to do with them?
I haven't made myself clear.
The Space Marine and IG are completely separate.
When you advance enough on a guardsman, you are then allowed to create a new space marine character which would presumably have a lot of advantages over being a guardsman. It would be a way to prevent thousands of 10 year old faggot kids from spamming space marines at launch and overpowering everything else through sheer numbers; only people that took the time to unlock the SM could play.

A really rough drawing of what I mean. The vertical lines represent character progress, and the big dot is when you unlock the SM.
