I'd be an IG, honestly Being just a normal human is way cooler than armored super soldier space marine As odd as that sounds...
Agree 100%. Being an average soldier makes your victories that much more heroic.
Agree 100%. Space marines are created just to fight the enemies of the imperium, but the Imperial Guard are just normal people with a gun and some training.
Hopefully, you get to play as an Officer/Comissar/Priest, rather than a simple guardsman. Otherwise, all quests will be: "Hold the Line".
No, it would be "throw yourself at the enemy whilst your commander escapes" :v:
I just want to join random squads and execute them at best possible moments.
Riding on top of a tank shouting "DRIVE ME CLOSER I WANT TO HIT THEM WITH MY SWORD" would be better.

I would be a nice Commissar and give everyone hugs instead of shooting them.
And they are invading the galaxy due to being scared away from their own (by what we don't know, but there are quite a few things that could be doing it).
It's Starvation I think, nothing for them in the worlds they passed then a empty plate...Kept it mind most of the time it's from a Imperuim point of view
Has there been much news on this since E3? I havent really seen much being posted around, maybe I've missed some.
I really hope this game is as good as it looks, but I have my reservations. You could go from Imperial Guard to a Space Marine but you'd have to follow some like hard as fuck quest line, to do it. I kinda hope there's some huge battle that is constantly taking place, and like every server could join in on it or something.

Considering there are pilotable Warhound Titans, there must be some pretty big battles.
Going from Imperial Guard to Space Marine makes no sense.
Actually sir you are wrong. In the first Dawn of War book at the end an imperial guard soldier does indeed become a Space Marine. It can happen, although the majority of Space Marines are drawn from the Chapter's home-world there are cases where they will take an especially brave/skilled soldier. For example the Dark Angels have no home-world they instead draft their members from whatever world The Rock happens to be at.
In the first Dawn of War book
:frog: You cannot become a space marine beyond a certain age (early teens). You can recieve some pretty awesome Space Marine-esque augmentations, but you cannot become a real one after a certain point.

IG are waves of cannon fodder and are the bravest bastards ever...If i wasnt Chaos id salute them but hey More BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD!
I'm just telling you what happened in the book, And do you really think the Imperial Guard care about age, when it comes to drafting soldiers?
Actually its completely canon for IG to use child soldiers.

Adding that to the game would make it seem like every guardsman can become a Space marine. They take the best candidates and then see how well they do.
IF it is going to be Imperial Guard -> "leveling" to Space Marine, I hope it would be optional so you could choose taking either Spehss mahreens or take a Karskin/some other shock troops/being sergeant or higher or something?

I think being a Space Marine should be something completely separate and really hard to do.

Especially if i can be a Lord Commissar and surf a tank into battle while yelling "DRIVE ME CLOSER" Something like this:
Logic dictates that they would have seperate Space Marine and Imperial Guard progressions, with the Space Marines starting out as an Initiate and Guards starting out as Privates, or what have you.
Logic dictates that they would have seperate Space Marine and Imperial Guard progressions, with the Space Marines starting out as an Initiate and Guards starting out as Privates, or what have you.
Indeed. It'd be cool if you could go through the trials of the respective chosen chapters recruiting worlds. Like the Blood Angels of Baal, they choose a bunch of kids/teens and have them fight it out throughout this big maze and shit. Would be cool.
Space marine would be great if you start out as an initiate, not a scout. It would be awesome to have to go through all the trials and things.
Logic dictates that they would have seperate Space Marine and Imperial Guard progressions, with the Space Marines starting out as an Initiate and Guards starting out as Privates, or what have you.
However, you shouldn't be able to have both space marines and guard as starting races because then, for balance, a guardsman would be able to butcher a space marine in PvP and that just doesn't make any sense
This is why every guard player just needs to control 500 conscripts.
This is why every guard player just needs to control 500 conscripts.
When you play as a Commissar, you control a squad. Each HP you have, is one conscript.
