• Quit Fussing Over Casual Gaming.

I don't hate on casual gaming. I hate what casual gaming has done and IS doing to games.
By my definition, casual games are more familey oriented and are good for parties. I don't consider Call of Duty casual.
I'd say CoD is the best definition of a casual shooter, together with Halo. Regenerating health, melee crap, deathstreaks... my opinion might be biased as I'm not into those games, but yeah.
There is a rare breed of games, the kind of game one can pick up easily, but at the same time have a hard time actually getting good at. These paradoxical forms of entertainment mostly take form as MUDs, text adventures, and intentionally simple games. I would take HellMOO, Zork, and Liberal Crime Squad over any Call of Duty or Battlefield these days.

I support casual gaming. Casual gamers are easy kills.
I play what I'm in the mood to play and don't care. One day I'll be on GTA, then a few songs on audiosurf, and sneaking around in Crysis before I'm about to play Rock Band.
Valve, Crytek, Bethesda, Bohemia, Treyarch, Bungie, Infinity Ward, Avalanche, Eidos, all make pretty casual games.
Whenever I think of H4rdc0r3 g4m3rz sup41337 I think of Christian Weston Chandler wearing a shirt with an MLG insignia on it.
I play games for fun. I play games that make me have fun. If some game doesn't let me have more fun than another game, I won't play it. Simple as that, I don't really care which demographic of gamers that puts me in.
Basically, I don't play hardcore or casual games, I play fun games. Whichever category that falls into, so be it. [editline]17th February 2011[/editline] Oh you little bitch you beat me to it.
It's not that I hate casual games, I just dislike how many companies create sequels when it ends up being the same thing with "extra features".
I think of a casual game as having 1 major function/goal/gametype, low budget, low cost or free, and lasting forever or until you get bored.

Treyarch? hahahahahaha
I have nothing against Casual gamers or Casual Gaming. More than anything, I am against casual games being overpriced.

Everyone in this thread is a casual, lol.
Maybe I wouldn't rag on casual gamers if they weren't ruining the industry. [editline]18th February 2011[/editline] I don't care what they enjoy, that's there business. But companies when realize they can spend less and get more money by producing things casual gamers will eat up instead of spending time and money to make good titles. :colbert:
there's a lot of people in here bitching about how casual gaming is ruining the industry, but the majority of gamers have jobs and busy lives and can't dedicate themselves to "hardcore" games. there are still plenty of hardcore games out there, but most of the new ones are catering to MOST OF THE DEMAND. blame society
You mean that's a bad thing for me to be doing?
Just means you're hardcore and required to fulfill a pretentiousness quota per month, equal to the product of your BMI and the costs you invoke on your caretakers squared, measured in square measurable weirdness (MW2).
The only issue I have with them is that many of the people I know that play casual games, bitch and whine when they try to play some of the games I have. "It's too hard, this game is stupid!"

I was about to troll and say that I will never quit FUSING (as in fuse) over casual games, but then I read the thread title and realized he spelled fussing right. also Don't Make Thread Titles Like This.
By my definition, casual games are more familey oriented and are good for parties. I don't consider Call of Duty casual.
Games like Call of Duty are actually a lot more casual than something like Wii Fit or whatever tbh.
Okay, just so we are are on the same page here, Treyarch/Activision =/= Hardcore gaming. Flash games, peggle, those are just arcade/minigames, doesn't really fit into either category of hardcore or casual.
Only idiots and 4chan (one in the same?) complain about casual gaming. They can deal with it for all I care.
