How do I turn on the range finder?
dota_disable_rangefinder 0 or something along those lines in the console.
13 games today and not one has lasted 5 minutes. I've spent around 5 hours queing and watching 8 and 9/10s constantly. 8 games where one person failed to load putting me back in que, 6 rage quits at first blood, 3 AFKers from the start, and 4 people raging over dual mids (in one case it was quadra mid with riki, invoker, clinkz and morphling, three of whom went boots first) Fuck it. I'm going to bed. EDIT: And no I am not in low priority. I've actually never been in it.
Did you select US West?
good lord i've been on a losing streak that's making me want to give up on dota
this blows hard
every time this happens to me I just start learning a new hero. I think the matchmaking might put you in a lower bracket if you pick a hero you haven't played before because I almost always win my first 4-5 games on a new guy.
the last time this happened I picked up lycan and in the game I just played a broodmother spent literally the entire match calling me a tryhard, to the point of looking up my dotabuff stats and telling me that i was also a tryhard for playing ogre (???)

Matchmaking assigns you to a skill bracket before you even pick a hero, it's only going to drop you if you do poorly.

oh yes of course it does, i'm retarded

I like when the angry guy in the game spends 10 minutes afk looking up stats then yelling them at us because I know they have nothing else.
To my understanding people don't really like Divine Rapier, in fact they often seem to hate it. I, on the other hand, love it. Makes the game much more intense.
Is it wrong to buy Rapier just to make the game more interesting, even if you'd have better items to buy?

Then they try and rambo, get killed and the enemy team now has a massive advantage if their carry picked it up since he still has his core items on the way +6200 gold you just handed him.
2 wins left and my wins and losses are even again. Next game everyone goes carry and our Ursa feeds like fuck.
3 wins left.
I had an amazing winning spree going, my wins and losses were almost even.
Lost a game as Mirana, didn't think much of it.

Whenever I get 25 more Wins than Losses I get a losestreak and fall back down to 20 then bounce back up again, been like that for the past 100 games.
hey, do you guys know if battle points actually do anything? I've been playing for about a month now and I'm at like level 3, does it make a difference in anything?
kind of a noob question, sorry if it's dumb
Every level you get an item, that is it.
is it bad if i have a higher chance of winning in solo queue than queuing with people i actually know
No because the matchmaking system is broken and cruel to parties.

All they do is determine when you'll get another item. Every time you level up you're guaranteed to get one, and in between levels I believe it's just random.

Either your friends are in a higher teir than you and you can't compete, or your friends aren't coordinated at all.

That too.
their team:
Silencer, Templar assassin, Windrunner, BR riki, BR clinkz
Our team:
BR KOTL, BR Chen, BR invoker, Slardar(me), brewmaster
Brewmaster soloed, and expected chen to gank and help with top. Chen says "ok" and helps mid
then goes and jungles in the radiant jungle, constantly getting killed by the 3 invis heroes and blaming it on our team. He buys mek even tho our KOTL already has it, and we shouldn't rely on one support for a nice heal. He never sold it.
The kotl was BR but did amazing, he constantly bought wards.
The Br invoker did fine too, was suprised.
The brewmaster was doing amazing, even tho the chen was dumb.
We won, due to their team set up. Really? Pick 3 invis heroes AFTER slardar locks in? Why
Accidently queued for US west/Russia
Played Kunkka for both, managed to get loads of huge hits with my boat + torrent with 600 on the Russian server than 250 on the US
What

"Qing as 4 in captains mode? Lets give the captain to the person that is the soloq spot."
I asked this last night, and it wasn't answered, so what does the genre "ASSFAGGOTS" stand for again?

You guys had any trouble with that silencer?
I had such a rage inducing game yesterday because of one.
Started out by no one calling SS and getting ganked twice in the jungle as enigma, precisely when I was low on HP.
Later in team fights, he cockblocked me precisely when I was gonna ulti their whole team with his own ulti and while that happened, riki fed on us even though we warded and had gem.
There were like 3 gems in the game at the same time.
It was one hell of a game, but also one hell of a bitch with that Silencer.

No idea where I read that you should spam decay, but it's the last time I'll only read one guide and follow it blindly.
Late reply.
When I used to spam decay. https://dotabuff.com/matches/30518450
When I am still spamming decay. https://dotabuff.com/matches/38847777
BTW, I think you are misunderstanding "spamming" decay.
I don't literally spam it and waste ALL my mana, but I spam it in the sense of above 200 mana and the opportunity to dive kill them later, or if its first blood, or if they are low on hp.
Was looking at a stream full of pro players and the caster's friends list was pretty interesting. Has a bunch of Valve employees and players and then..

icefrog is a person that exists?? holy shit thanks for the giant fucking screenshot, without you i don't know what we'd do!
I just love the feeling of winning a game against pubstars. First game, the enemy had an ursa and drow ranger, so I decided to roll with Razor. Got 5 kills in the laning phase, all of the enemy ragequit except one. Second game had a riki that got 11 kills fat early game on our sand king, but then we picked up a gem. Soon as we saw riki, we'd stun lock him to death, and then me (Enigma) and sand king together just melted the enemies health away. It was glorious.

Now, back on topic.
39477823 (https://dotabuff.com/matches/39477823) is the match ID for what has to be my most heart poundingly close game ever.
I'd describe what happened if I could remember any of it but alas. :(
Edit: Typos :(
