You dont know what Cyborgmatt is occupied in. Surely Valve will just hire him to sit around at the office?
Disruptor is amazing, no idea why he isn't used more often in competitive games. Glimpse fucks everything up if you and your team work seamlessly together (which isn't that rare in competitive games) and Kinetic Field + Static Storm makes everyone cry if they have atleast one spell to rely on. (it's easilly countered, but of course, that takes away enemy funds and item slots)
He's used in competitive pretty often, I saw him a lot during TI2.

Seems like Cyborgmatt got hired by Valve
Nah they probably just gave him one, you can request one and they'll probably send you one.
No idea how you can compare an amazing PR event to some guy who lists the update notes on their blog.
He did dig into files.
He did take time to publish then, keep things up to date, and do it very quickly after updates went live.
He did get a community following him and recognition from Valve beforehand (nothing for Cyborgmatt to find here).
If guy is capable of that, he is active, he likes to get involved and he has some skills to do so, I'd say he fits in a business.
Everybody likes to say "I can do that shit too!", but somehow we got 1 Cyborgmatt, and not 50 popular Dota update blogs.
Wouldn't it be nice to get more than Meepo this week? (if he indeed arrives this week)
He was in beta progress for ages before the International, maybe even before Nyx Kotl and Visage had been released.
because if you play disruptor badly he's fucking awful
the only way you can fuck up as disruptor is using glimpse and taking back the enemy to safety
What I see often when playing disruptor is people not noticing the fucking glimpse orb and running in the same direction the enemy was heading, and of course, ignoring the pings marking where the enemy was going to be after using the skill
Also, I have seen VS using nether swap to take enemies out kinect field/static storm, thats one of the things that made me hate her (when on my team)
Why is Spectre not listed as a ganker? That's clearly her role, after playing her a few games. The only problem I see from her is her move speed, so I usually go for Boots of Travel to speed her up.
Use her ulti to find stragglers and attack them, then use her Q to make sure it's impossible for them to run away.
[editline]3rd September 2012[/editline]
I usually go Mask of Madness on her, for it increases her movespeed and attack speed (as well as gives her more artificial tankiness), but I can definitely see replacing that with a Skull Basher or something.

His mechanics could've been tricky.
You have instances of riki respawning with no Invis active (sometimes just visually, sometimes actually until he casts), you can't have that with Meepo., etc.

That's cleanup utility I believe. Spectre won't solo heroes until she is farmed, and I don't mean Vanguard/Boots farmed. Any hero can escape her I believe, unless he is damaged/out of mana/spells on CD, in which case = clean up.

Oh, so the term is Clean-up? Yeah, she's pretty weak until she gets her ulti, then she becomes the ultimate DotA janitor. Once she's fed from the janitorial stage she can then solo everyone.
[editline]3rd September 2012[/editline]
I'm now going to attempt to draw Spectre in a janitorial uniform and is handling a mop.
Oh just played my first 2 matches of lich, first was bad because I lagged out BUT the game after that so goooooooooooooood. first get outlaned by keeper and treant, odd choice but it worked. where we shined was mid game team fight, i got so many good ulti's off. treant and PA full health punching my jakiro, I ulti them both and they dropped so fast. and another big play moment we realize they are roshing. rosh pit is a playground for so many ultis, lich included. I maul them all and Lanaya cleans up and takes aegis.
Such a fun hero, I dont understand why people dont play awesome supports like this. whats with the "we need 3 carries per team" mentality when heroes like this do so much?

OH, right.
He does sound a bit hard to code and to come out right.

Ganker is hero who can take advantage of hero/two by surprise/rapid attack, momentarily giving his teammates and himself advantange and in that moment he can score a kill rather easily.
Night Stalker for example, early game (first few nights) is super-ganker, as he gains advantage at night and his slow/silence for a moment changes balance in lane he ganks.
Tidehunter can gank as well, but his CCs are limited to Slow and long-cd ultimate, but his ultimate helps engagement against entire teams, thus he is "Initiator", you can imagine teamfights as biggest ganks possible with both sides participating full-squad.
Clean Up are heroes who are more than able to finish off enemies who can't endager them. This might sound weird, but take hero like Weaver for example. He is hard to pick off, but 1vs1 he aint most durable, nor is his damage output pre-late anything great, and if you have lockdown/sentry/gem (he can remove dust with Time-Lapse) and a couple of guys, he is dead meat.
However, if you have 2-3 heroes below 40% hp, some with no mana after a teamfight/skirmish, how does quick-burst, shukuchi and swarm to keep vision/decrease armor sound now ?
You get the idea.
Hmm, that's very interesting. The classifications in this game are pretty cool.
But what I don't get then is why Weaver and Spectre are both listed as carries rather than 'Clean-up', and why this 'Clean-up' class isn't in the game.

Cause if they wanted to list all actually existing classificatiosn for heroes, they would have to update it constantly and some heroes would have too many of them.
Semi carries, light carries, hard carries, lane supports, direct supports, semi-supports, roamers, junglers, laners, lane dominators, roshers, area denial, clean up, counter push, push.
You can almost make up stuff like this by just picking particular area of the game, be it gold gain for example, and then making a list of heroes who excell at it (Prophet due to global TP, Doom, Alchemist, etc).
something I always wanted to ask, does anybody have an less awkward key setup? I like to rest my fingers on the row where I assigned all my spells to, but also I want to reach the attack and stop button. At the same time I also want to be able to use inventory buttons.
QWER+DF is just super awkward when you want to reach A and S and the F1-6 buttons for the inventory slots.
so whats your key setup?

People want kills and be the person who does the big play

I use QWERDF for skills, space bar for important items like blink, g for tps, t for misc actives, and 123 for the rest. I also use j for quickbuy and b for shop

I use QWER/DF for my abilities, 1-6 for my items, and x,c, tab and space for micro groups. its worked for me.

Pretty much this but replace 1-2 with control groups and B for blink dagger/force staff/1st inventory slot and V for 2nd inventory slot.
Just did another game as Spectre. Yup, Mask of Madness is pretty much required for her. I don't know why it's not one of her recommended items.

Or maybe it's just my playstyle (?)

ESDF for camera control.
WRTG for abilities.
1-6 for items.
F1-4 for control groups.
A and Mouse 5 for Attack and Stop.

My skills are QWER+DF, my F1 and 1 are both bound to my hero, and 23456 are bound to my inventory. Other than that, everything is the same. I really like this setup.

Please explain why this is dumb, 'Banned?'. I want to know if there's a flaw in my MoM build that's won me several games now.

Spec is suppose to be tanky and do her damage via Radiance and Dispersion.
So yeah, it's your playstyle but it's totally against what the character should be doing. With MoM you might as well kiss that free 22% damage reduction goodbye.

She's still tanky as shit without that. I never liked using Radiance (except on Doom Bringer), but I'll give that a try. Rating me dumb is making me think that what I'm doing is completely wrong, but so far it's been working great.
[editline]3rd September 2012[/editline]
Also, why can't I have both MoM and Radiance? Just wondering. MoM gives her a massive speed bonus that can allow Radiance to do it's damage.

Are you sure you weren't just playing against really bad people?
Are you sure you weren't just playing against really bad people?
They all had more than 100+ wins and I was 0-5 until I got my MoM due to their massive harassment. They didn't have any real carries to speak of (Jugg was fed though), so me and my teams resident Riki just started doing mass ganks on any stragglers. I then got so fed that they couldn't kill me and I ended with 13-6.
I wouldn't say they were bad, but they certainly aren't what you call 'good'.

The point is that Spec should be a lasting character in a teamfight. You ultie in, let those tick people down via Radiance and autoattacks, warp in, kill people yourself and do damage over time from Rad and Dispersion. You don't need that much damage in the first place beyond Rad because of Desolate, which has a small as shit range so it will proc even in teamfights. Rad into Heart will make you a machine.
MoM is just killing yourself if you ever get focused by two or more people.
You guys make me feel so stupid when I thought I found a nice new build for Spectre. Why don't you guys give it a try and see how it works, you all are probably on a much higher level than I am.
you don't need the speed bonus with your ultimate and your spectral dagger...

Interesting, I'll give that a try!
But I think it's how I play Spectre is why I'm doing so well. I only go after people who have no support around them and after I gank I run away. This way I get fed until I can do real damage later on in the late game.
