What should I bind my item buttons to? I currently use 123456, which is the default for League of Legends.

Spacebar for boots, always. (Weaver being the sole exception :v:) C, V and T for items you want easy access to. Z and X for items that are not so important on-demand items like Urn, Wards and shit, or passive-items.

My friend who played League of Legends quite a bit for a while tells me about how he used to be great at the original DotA, so I send him an invite key. After a while I ask if he's tried it and he tells me that he can't tell any characters apart and back to playing LoL. Grr.

I don't like most of the hammers for omni added in this update, they look like something I would find on a jrpg and this might sound crazy, but one of those new hammers looked like the green laterns logo, anyways, at least that hood got in, it's pretty nice
