I actually pick whatever the fuck I want, because I know I'm good with them. Like Axe or Batrider, almost never seen in comp games, but fun as fuck to play and can be succesful if you know what you're doing.
Batrider seems to be one of those heroes that if you really know how to play him and have a syncronized team, its one of "those" heroes that melts your face from being so much fun and useful at securing kills. I laned with an Axe some days ago. Good GOD what the fuck was he? He pulled all of bot lane's friendly creeps to himself, while slardar and void struggled with me and our creeps at the tower, then we fought them UNDER their tower and won, and proceeded to quite literaly shut down their lane, and then, the whole game for radiant in maybe 30 mins. They even 5 man ganked our lane, but it always ended in a +1 kill for us. https://dotabuff.com/matches/42842497 That was THE best Axe I've ever saw. Sure the lane was rather easy, but we played REALLY well.
I play LoL because I'm very used to warcraft III: I like to have variety and play different "maps"(games) of this mode, be it better or worse or easier/harder. I don't play it too much though. LoL is not Thaaaat bad, but it's not nearly as good as the zealots make it look like. I preffer DotA much more.
kids first moba. Easy to get into, easy to enjoy/grasp basically every character, rewards you for playing all the time (with IP and xp, sure levels are cool in dota but theres nothing to them aside from a free item) no convoluted tactics (pulling, etc) not overwhelming to some (immediately having access to everything can get confusing) Plus league is the most accessible one of them all (wc3 dota being hard to use, hon being money [until now], dota 2 requiring invite), meaning you can easily pick it up and start playing its just a very basic, simplistic game, which might seem okay on paper, but its poorly done. Plus when you play a game for a very long period of time, you tend to gain bias toward it.
Too bad their devs are idiots and want to restrict the competitive scene all to themselves. I hear that its not quite that noob friendly because it sometimes matches veterans with noobies or something, don't know if thats true. I'm also not a fan of that rune stuff. Seems like everyone can have a blink mechanism that way. Doesn't that makes things INCREADIBLY easy? Imagine Enigma with blink from the start...
Pro games are boring because out of 70-80 heroes, only about 20 fall into the pick/ban pool and nothing else is used. It's as if everyone is scared of using something else and change the game a bit.
Hero variety doesn't dictate whether games are boring or not. Plenty of the top tier (rubick) are super fun to watch. Would you rather sit around and watch Alchemist farm for sixty fucking minutes or Enigma blink in with a 5 man black hole?

Flash is a spell similar to blink, but its range was incredibly nerfed, so it's not incredibly useful as initiation or escape mechanism. Runes basically give additional things like mana regen or health regen based on what you have, but you have to buy it with points you receive from playing the game. And finally you have masteries which is basically a WoW skill tree, except it applies to all champions and grants small additional bonuses.
Doesn't that makes things INCREADIBLY easy? Imagine Enigma with blink from the start...
you say that as if LoL has any skills as powerful or interesting as black hole

Also the flash summoner spell is practically useless, its only around a ranged champions autoattack range, pathetic compared to blink dagger and every blink in dota. Plus there's no hug lockdown ults in league, aside from amumu and maybe a few others, but they're so heavily gimped when compared to dota it doesn't really matter. (like amumus, you're binded but can still attack, and only lasts like a second or 2 I think.

Not that I want to see an alchemist doing nothing but farming, but watching the same stuff gets boring and screams lazy from the teams. I loved watching Tiny + wisp combos. Those were fun as hell. Then what kind of stuff do they have?
Just to clarify, Longest AoE hard CC in LoL lasts 2 seconds, which is pretty multiple ultimate spells usually on tanks/initiators (1 support has one too, AoE lockdown-initiating spell. [Sona]) Longest single-target CC is One guy's ultimate, which is pretty much Rhasta's shackles, but more DPS and lasts for 2.5 secs. (Malzahar) Also, flash has like 450 distance too.
The entire point of LoL is to be simple. Although no matter how neutral I try to be I can't think of a reason for the Rune Pages and Spell Masteries.
It...doesn't? Then what kind of stuff do they have?
Everything is short cooldown, short cost, low mana cost stuff. Lots of them has passive effects that are lost when used as well. The most similar hero I can think of in Dota is Death Prophet.
The entire point of LoL is to be simple. Although no matter how neutral I try to be I can't think of a reason for the Rune Pages and Spell Masteries.
Masteries are just rewards for leveling up basically, people say they are for creating different build but people just go 21/0/9 etc, no special shit there, rune pages seem to be 'for that reason' as well (even though its not used that way like ever) Plus it seems like a money grabbing tactic, since your choice pre level 30 is to either buy champions to try them out, etc, or save up for runes, which means you'll lose out on champions for a while, pressuring you to get them with RP. [editline]27th September 2012[/editline]
It...doesn't? On the subject of Dota/Hon/Lol etc, I never played any of those. Sure I tried a bit of Dota1 and HoN, but I was convinced I'm not a Dota-player because; -nudging the camera was annoying -too many Heroes to learn -too many items to make sense out of -etc Until the day I received Dota2 invite.. now 1000 matches played.
Not trying to start anything but, I find funny how sometimes people end up discussing LoL mechanics on dota threads Yesterday on the /vg/ there was a handful of posts just because someone asked who would win if 20 roshans, kongors and nashors fought each other [editline]27th September 2012[/editline]
On the subject of Dota/Hon/Lol etc, I never played any of those.
that's retarded. i used to play lol before dota and when i got my dota 2 key (which i was really looking forward to because i know like 900 people that play it and say it's better) it took me like 2 months to get used to it it's not like you get used to a whole new fucking game in 30 minutes
Few of my friends are the same way, one had a legit reason though, none of his gaming buddies played DOTA, all play league, so its a choice of either investing lots of time into dota alone, or playing league with his friends, and he chose the later. (good thing I dont have any friends so that choice was easy for me :v: )
Dendi playing Pudge is so nice to see, he only missed 1 hook and the rest all ended up in kills.
Didn't see this comparison anywhere so I made it myself. At last, I can play her again :v: I accidentally 3297x1725

Wow, thats like nothing compared to 1200 units from blink. Maybe its a bigger distance or something...
The map in LoL is smaller than Dota, comparitivly.
The map in LoL is smaller than Dota, comparitivly.
From what I remember of LoL, flash was still rather short-ranged, although it did allow for initating and escaping easily. Even after range was decreased I believe. Everything in League is miniaturazied compared to Dota, even mechanics, that's main reason I personally switched over, comfort zone was too constraining.

The thing I hate the most about LoL is the fucking locked camera. Jesus christ that shit makes me feel claustrophobic.
I don't understand how people like LoL. This will sound very elitistic and "lol fuck your opinions", but LoL seems like the worst of the ARTS (or MOBA? whatever) family with the biggest handicaps and unrewarding gameplay. It also looks like some kind of cartoon. Not that its bad but, compared to HoN and Dota 1/2, it looks bad. (IMO)
I found LoL boring but I can understand why people would like it.
The thing I hate the most about LoL is the fucking locked camera. Jesus christ that shit makes me feel claustrophobic.
But you can just turn it off.
But you can just turn it off.
Are you fucking kidding me? [editline]27th September 2012[/editline] I was not aware.
Are you fucking kidding me? [editline]27th September 2012[/editline] I was not aware.
It's on the HUD ( ? ) and should be in the options.
I've only played like 2 games of LoL anyway. Ignore that, I was being an idiot. :v:
me and my friends are doing russian roulette check all regions, check all gamemodes, everyone randoms if randoming a hero is not possible by the way of the random button, you spin to random hero and pick what you first get if captain's mode, bans and picks are also random. close your eyes and click something no repicks of any kind theres NO WAY this can go bad EDIT: alright we ended up on us east with nature's prophet, skeleton king, lifestealer, lich and bane. not TOO bad i guess it could be worse
