So much bandwagon. Activision is now instant rage for nerds. If the screens are real, this looks like it will be amazing. Infinity Ward are out, Treyarch are out. Its a new studio taking over with apparently Raven Software(Jedi Outcast/Academy, Soldier of Fortune creators) doing multiplayer.
Game isn't released
No gameplay footage
Handful of screenshots
hurr its CoD hurr its gonna suck
oh shit
i hope they have soldier of fortune style gore and cheat codes
cuz that was hilarious
I'm not ashamed to say I'd buy it. I know the multiplayer will suck, but I'll still play hours of it anyway just like everyone else :v:
Plus there's always the Steam Holiday sales.
oh shit

I hope they do aswell. Blops had a very crude dismemberment system in single player so maybe that'll be a stepping stone for Raven's level of gore.
Sad thing is I'll probably be pressured into buying this on a console to play with some friends. Then when I beat singleplayer I'll rage to shit about multiplayer, sell it, pre-order a PC game.
Yeah, well, this "social" franchise can eat my shit. I can't stand people in my school who socialize about the newest CoD every fucking year when there are so many other good games that no one talks about. Portal? What the fuck is that? LA Noire? Huh? Deus Ex? Never head of it.
You can't even socialize with these limp dick retards about anything else besides CoD, even if the game is older because you get the "wtf it isn't CoD/its gay/graphics are shit" response.
And the worst of it all is that they all play it on console and when they ask you what system you have it for and you say PC, they look at you like you're a fucking idiot. And arguments over 360 vs PS3 rise every year as a result of the newest CoD releasing. I'm sick of it.
So let us recap: CoD's community is full of high school underclassmen and children who obsess over graphics and CoD is the only game they have ever really played and everything else in existence is considered "gay." Thanks, but you can have the shit boat, I don't want to get anywhere near it.
Thats because only nerds play PC games, yea, I hate to admit it but its very hard to straddle between being a "hardcore PC master race" player and having a social life.
I gotta give you respect for going the whole "go big or go home" route when it comes to video games, but I would rather joke with my friends about COD instead of geek out about a bunch of PC games only a handful of people play.
Come on, do you REALLY need two sights for a gun?
Come on, do you REALLY need two sights for a gun?
are you kidding me
Actually in real life most guns have 2 sights.
Especially on ACOG scopes, since it is a medium range scope, on top of it is a red line used as an ironsight.
could do without spec ops but im buying it
Who cares if its original. Alot of games aren't with their sequels.
Bf1942, Vietnam, Bf2, 2142 are all virtually the same just different settings. Still great games.
Half Life hasn't changed except graphically. Same goes for CS and DoD.
Mass Effect 1 and 2 only have minor changes
If I want to play a hollywood shooter with explosions, ridiculous guns, plots, and characters I play CoD. If I want tactical and realism shit I play Arma or RO. People rag on CoD but never give explanations.
Quite a few people have given their explanation about why they dislike the game in any form; furthermore you aren't helping your case by listing off loads of bullshit.
First off you're definitely right about CS and DoD, nothing much but graphical enhancement there.
Battlefield 1942 was a WW2 shooter which could have rather large online matches, Vietnam you are somewhat right on setting changes, and 2142 brought plenty of shit to the table with mechs, plenty new vehicles, giant fucking floating aircraft. The Battlefield series in my opinion is awesome for continuing their system of having large multiplayer battles of 64 players. Way more mayhem and awesome moments.
Saying Half Life hasn't changed except graphically is just a fucking stupid thing to say, the graphics are indeed better, sound quality much better, a completely new story, an entirely new atmosphere(It seems in CoD that you are always "SUPER 1337 SPEC OPS AND HAVE TO SAVE WORLD"), new enemies, more in depth characters, an entirely new engine including the use of physics, and of course its ability to be modded(Another reason I dislike CoD). Of course though Half Life 1 and 2 were both awesome games with plenty to add onto them the amount of mods are huge with plenty of them giving you enjoyable time.
Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2, well 2 brought in and changed quite alot of shit, such as changing the combat system and the entire loot/inventory system. ME2 also focused more centrally on the game itself rather than exploration, removing the ability to go around on the surface of planets in your rover. ME2 continues upon the first games story very well, bringing in a slew of new characters(Wrex :( ) and many decisions to be made in the game. ME2 also went much more deep into the story, showing the different side to factions like Cerberus and to the Geth. ME1 focused more on the RPG style of the game while ME2 focused more on the story and the combat.
In other words, think before you spew shit out of your mouth.

Alot of American soldiers in the middle east are seen fielding an acog with a RDS ontop of that.
Three days before Skyrim.... Can't they just be... The week after Skyrim? Please? I want to have at least a mildly sophiscated discussion before having to listen to people go, "OMG MW3 ROCKS SO FUCKKKKKKING HARD" Also may I add, the multiplayer levels seem like a complete rip off from BF3.

it doesn't really matter; all "big" game releases either come out may-june or in november because november is close to christmas and gives customers enough time to buy their product and may-june is a good time to do it because a lot of kids graduate school and blow their graduation money
publishers don't care what they release next to; they find a date that works for them. releasing THE week of CoD coming out would be a disaster, but a week before would be fine because it would get the influx of customers who want that product and still have enough time to provide before christmas
In half life, you are a "chosen one", aka, a mute nerd who has to save the world.
All you listed for the changes are not fundamental. New vehicles? Not a big change, just a new toy.
New atmosphere? Just a setting change, like you said BF: vietnam was before. Vietnam had new vehicles, helicopters, new weapons, new enemies. Yet you contradict yourself to defend half life. Even though half life is an entirely mediocre game whose novelty lies only in its modability.
And you say ME2 focused on the game rather than exploration but I do remember spending several hours launching probes at planets instead of fighting.
All this hate must come from the so called "hipster complex" aka, "I hate it because its popular".

I just don't wanna get into constant discussions about CoD when great games like Skyrim, Twisted Metal, and Red Orchestra 2 are coming out.

"People don't like a popular game, they MUST be a hipster"
Honestly how cool is it to go around your school/workplace/group of friends and start bragging about what games you bought/play and what you do in them.
Find other stuff to talk about if all you talk about is games because I rarely talk about them, and so does everyone I know.

Compared to modern FPSes it is.
There are no spectacular things about half life other than the physics and the modability.

At the core, gameplay and mechanics, those games haven't changed much. Of course the games get better graphics and sound as you mentioned, what game doesn't with time. CoD does the same thing and instantly gets bashed by the majority of the community. For what? A shitty publisher? A horrible community(You don't see 12 year olds and ragers on PC. I've played since MW1 and have never ran into one.) And "generic" is a horrible excuse that's easily thrown around. Name one game on the market that plays like CoD.

I'm pretty sure no one here has said they go and brag to people about what games they bought. If I had a dollar for every time someone told me of this "AWESOME" tomahawk throw they got in Black Ops, I could buy out activision.
Thats basically what I am saying.
In all those games, you shoot shit. You go around, and shoot shit. It just looks different.

Crysis 2. Well, that was easy.
do you know what people who liked videogames used to be called? nerds. that's exactly what you are when you argue about shit like this. all you are doing is bashing a money-making sellout because they don't make games up to par with your nerd tastes. none of you have "friends who talk about call of duty" because you don't have friends. you're too busy arguing about why half-life is the best game in the universe and why everything else is bad. grow up and get over yourselves.

In that case every game ever is exactly the same and generic as fuck.

Its like playing sports but with only 3 other people.
