I guess I should probably make it clearer why Call of Duty is just dumb. It's not a horrible game... well okay, it kinda is.
The main problems with CoD were best illustrated in Duty Calls. First of all, everything just looks so dull. No real color is used. Secondly, the guns are simply generic and bland looking. Sure you could say it's realistic, but when it comes down to it they all looks the fucking same. Third, the characters are pretty one-dimensional. Yeah oh man that looks exciting. Pit this against every game that's been original, such as Half-Life 2, Halo, Team Fortress, and Bulletstorm and you can clearly see the contrast. Third, it tries to be cinematic in the worst way possible. First, let's look at Portal 2. I didn't expect it to have cinematic music or whatever, but goddamn was that game amazing and how the music helped. Then Halo. There's a whole bandwagon of hate (which I'm confused about there's been 4 games and two expansions of which if you knew anything about you'd understand why they're there). Call of Duty pointlessly uses slow-motion every time something interesting happens and it's obvious that they tried too hard to make it look good, and instead you get this scene which looks like some 12-year-old kid edited. All in all this game just shows that the developers haven't really advanced the engine too far, where at the same time Bungie, Valve, Epic, and other have tried making something that doesn't totally look it was made by a bunch of war vets.

It's a fun game to goof off in apparently.
don't approach call of duty expecting a deep plot, engaging characters nor originality
it's supposed to be fast, cinematic, and smooth, and it delivers on all of those fronts
also there's nothing wrong with its engine - it looks great and runs better

so does that mean you've never played a call of duty game before?
btw it is really good with splitscreen, very fun with friends
Call of Duty is an action movie, but in form of a video game, I don't really see why people rage at a level so intense it blows their mind...
Rails are for adding attachments, 1887 never had red dot sight.
So you rate me dumb, even though you say "Models don't have red dot sights" yet they never use it in real life in this present day, nice one moron.
I hope everyone stands back for a bit when this is released and gives a fair judgement as to whether $60 is worth whatever changes they make to the existing 4 CoD games that are all so painfully similar.

Hope is a good word, but doubtful is better.
If not the rest of the world, at least Facepunch.
How did OP get his hands on the plot synopsis for the game? Did activision already release it, or is the game simple THAT PREDICTABLE?

I like how everyone is bitching about guns and america and forgot all about just enjoying a game.
Predictable, lame storyline. R3P3TITIVE.

So basically i should accept Call of Duty because it has no redeeming qualities and all it's trying to do is jingle some keys in front of my face.

I'm sorry if I expect good games in this day & age, must've played too many of them.
I can see it now. My friends will try and coax me into buying this game, I'll eventually give in, beat the campaign think it was alright, and start to kinda like the multiplayer.
Then wake up the next day, notice all of the plot inconstancy and all of the cheesy and otherwise bad moments of the campaign, and then realize how unbelievably average the multiplayer is and start to feel ripped off.
Its been this way since WaW.

uh I just said that it's cinematic and plays extremely smooth
besides, obviously this isn't the case for you, but for me, it's a great game to play when people are over, and the splitscreen portion alone is a redeeming quality imo

Story mode, although relatively short, is very good IMO. Could definitely be longer (CoD4s felt the longest). I really do like the action movie style, but the goddamned multiplayer has been the same thing since 4 games ago in 2007, and it's $60. That's inexcusably overpriced.
mp on games after cod4 just pisses me off after 10 minutes of play
You still see reskinned m1911s everywhere in videogames, does anyone complain about those? No.
And it doesn't have a red dot sight if you look closely, it's just a sight similar to the m1014's.
I've never seen a reskinned m1911 before. Not even in Call of Duty. It still always looks similar to a real one:

And that's true, it did not have a red dot sight, I wasn't looking closely. But still, they're making a shotgun from 1887 look to modern, and that just bothers me. But whatever floats whoever's boat.

You think the actual gun looked like that in 1911?
(it didn't)
It's been heavily redesigned since then, in many ways.
IW says MW3 multiplayer will be innovative, hopefully. Since Raven is helping, I expect a little bit different MP.

What I meant is that 1887 in MW3 doesn't have rails nor you can attach red dot sights. Obviously I knew it's not used in this present day. It's just a game, calm down. I didn't know boxes can be so provocative.
Kotaku does not seem very impressed with their hands on :ohdear:

Didnt they say that about MW2 last time?
Didnt they say that about MW2 last time?
Alas, it wasn't.
Call of Duty games aren't worth my money anymore ever since MW2, the singleplayer isn't worth the price tag that they stick on it and the multiplayer is complete shit due to the horrible community/balance.
i'm thinking about pre ordering it on snip
they have it for 53.99$ + a 5% coupon on their facebook page..
they are new i think..found them on google...
I thought the MW2 singleplayer was pretty good. Definitely some twists, I completely did not expect.

I like the stories, I'm just not prepared to pay for 50 euros/60 euros for a few hours of gameplay.
Our gamestop is giving out posters for pre-orders, im tempted to put the minimum $5 for it...Poster looks pretty cool as it is double sided...
Just my 2 cents I will buy the game once it goes on sale cause a remake of MW2 is not worth $80+ lol What I don't get with COD series they look the same 2 years go by and still the same at least add something new to your engine. ( Valve - Portal 2 New and improved Hammer SDK) And to top it all COD MW2 made over 380 million, Cant they afford a new engine with that? Gezz I hope BF3 blows this out of the water and makes more sales.

interesting factoid:
on this scene it is possible to noclip away and look at roach's body, which is quite malformed
