How do I download them? I want Path of Borealis.
Click on the "click here to download" button in the flash media player.
you gotta click on what track ya wanna here, then when it drops down and lays the track, left click ondownload and save target as, that's the only way it was working for me :S
Father grigori put them together on his shitty forums.
ahhhhhh it all makes sense now...
Path of Borealis is one of those songs that make a game even better. Although Half Life 2 was already great.
well if my mod picks up and i can get in contact with the guy who mixed path of the hyperboria then I'll stick it back in the game
Half life 2 beta airex would have been so awesome.
....that's what we're making :S damn....
Bump for the sake of good tunes. Route to C17 is pretty good too, recommend listening to that. I still have Path to Borealis playing in the background. It's quite peaceful!
The thing that gets me, is if this was on grigori's forum, then there must be some very stupid people on there, i mean the Resident Evil tracks are PAINFULLY easy to recognise....
hl2.devtrack sounds like something you would get in some random doom wad.
Grigori is an idiot anyway. Can't blame Viktor for leaving.
God bless Viktor :patriot:
Then let path of the borealis be the rememberance song for an art peice that was never to be. I think it appropriate...
dude, we know

now thank you whoever put this....mish-mash togeather, however...shame on you for lieing about what they are from
(p.s if anyone wants the 2 tracks that didn't make hl2 then let me know)
Dude, may you PM the 2 tracks? Half-life soundtracks are like crack.
Finally its got the song i have been looking for, although it seems ripped straight form the old Half life 2 e3 2003 trailer itself.
"docks" is great.
although there is a seemingly cleaner mp3 of it under the name "hl2track 1" clocking in at a shorter length than "docks"
I'd like to point out that it's been found (no I'm not naming my source, I'll get in trouble here, find a better way to reach me if you REALLY want to know) That Path to Borealis was a fan remix of Traige at Dawn, the rest of these were (for the most part) pulled out of a certain less than legal anime/game soundtrack site.
The Airex music, I know for fact, was one of the stinger_ .wav files.
The songs are good, but are not legit.
:siren:ESPECIALLY SINCE VIKTOR ANTONOV WAS THE CONCEPT ARTIST FOR HALF LIFE 2.:siren:
Edit:
Half life 2 beta airex would have been so awesome.
I'm fixing the maps, if that helps any. :argh: I lost my near complete fix after a hard drive crash.
Dude, may you PM the 2 tracks? Half-life soundtracks are like crack.
I would mate but my PM function is still inactive, need to post more apprently. However if you got steam just put in my name Hitmanhart, from there i can sort some way of sending it to you, although there really nothing special
:edit: also no matter what I seem to do, no matter how well I spell my smartness goes down so it ain't gonna happen anytime soon.
Does anyone know the song in the beginning of this? I'm pretty sure it was in the leak, but it doesn't seem to be anywhere in the MI folder
I found it in the Half Life 2 music folder. Peek around a little and you should find it.
So if someone downloads the alpha does it actually play? Or is it a pile of ramdom maps, models, and scripts like WCMap pack?

Pretty much.
Also, this has nothing todo with the Half-Life 2 soundtrack at all. This is just random crap thrown together and published on the Internet. Most of the music is in retail anyway.

Waaaah
I'd facepalm if I could, maybe I should put togeather an alpha sound track, call it the super uber fantastic secret alpha sound track, would be better quality to, and i'd get just as many gullable kids wanting it.
Track 2, Track 23, Path to Borealis and Route to City 17. Kick. Ass.
Cool, but these don't really fit HL2's atmosphere. They're too up-beat.
Path of Borealis almos made me cry.
Beautiful. :(
Too bad I can't download almost anything from garrysmod.org for a while.
MUST. GET. THESE.
Right...ok, for those who arn't listening to the sane of mind here, this is NOT in anyway the alpha ost, atall...there are 3 tracks from it that are actualy from the alpha, and those are Docks (heard in a VERY old e3 video) track 13 (used in e3_city17_01 in the ruined street with barney) and track 4. the rest are from completey differnt things....the alpha ost was basicaly EXACTLY the same as it is now, with one or 2 SLIGHT differnces, path of the hyperboria (i prefer that name) is a remix by someone else of triage at dawn, good track in my opinion, there are 3 tracks from resident evil, the devtrack was an old track heard on nvidia driver installation discs (or ATI i'm not sure...)where airex reactor and start and reactor come from i have no idea :S consul top is from a VERY old tv show, which i cannot remember but i loved the theme as a kid and remember it. now in every leak if you look, it has the BETA ost, and there EXACTLY the same as retail, except for Hard Fought (there are three differnt verions ofit on the beta) and a VERY VERY VERY freaky track used in e3_phystown....it sounds like hundreads of pipes all being nocked on at once...also track 4 from this fake ost is in there to
now thank you whoever put this....mish-mash togeather, however...shame on you for lieing about what they are from

Which three tracks appeared in Resident Evil? I'd like to sort this so-called alpha listing as best as I can. Also, I believe that Airex Reactor was indeed an authentic track. I base this on the fact that it appears in the beta as a track called "ambient1", however, it's not in the main music folder.
yes i rooted through and found that to so a LITTLE bit more is beta. The resident evil tracks if i remember are tracks 09 and 10, ill need to download them again off garrys mod to confirm the track number, but there definatly resident evil, both tracks can be heard in the lab levels

Ok.
Also, I've been doing a bit of theorizing. ambient1 [aka Airex_Reactor] differs in quality between the "alpha" and beta soundtracks. The beta version is a 90 kbps .WAV file, while the version in the "alpha" is a 56 kbps MPEG file. To my naked ear, the .WAV sounds much harsher. My guess is someone took the beta ambient1 and altered it in a sound editing program to lose some of the roughness on the track, but why it would be saved at 56 kbps eludes me.
I'd like to make a general note that, regardless of Path of Borealis' origin, I still very much enjoy the track.
Anyway, it seems that the only real tracks from the "alpha" are
31_39_01.AIF (early Hard Fought)
hl2.track4 (A Red Letter Day)
hl2.track2 (Pulse Phase)
Airex_Reactor (ambient1)
Docks/hl2.track1 [same track] (early trailer music) <---this sounds like a straight rip from an .FLV taken from youtube.
Its still fascinating stuff. I used to think that the reason why so many Kelly Bailey tracks were missing from the "alpha" was because the tracks in it were temp, whilst KB was composing the score...it seems, while that is still entirely possible, this "alpha" is definitely not an accurate representation of that period in Half-Life 2's development.
I'd like to also note that the beta contains some other interesting material, especially any of the three "tone_" pieces or the "score" tracks.
Personally, i think the best sound files are the conscript marines script (what there is ofit) in my up coming mod i plan to use the op-force marine scripts (same voice actor)
