RIP SU-85 you used to be cool
Nah it always sucked until you got the 107. Now you don't get the 107. Hmmm.
Hey, I did it, and I didn't even get the best 85. You can do it too, bro.
The first is actually better for fighting tier 5s with. Bounce just as often but fires 13 RPM instead of 10. I don't like this tank, I'm going to sell it and play fun tanks (EASY 8 HERE I COME). I eat Churchills in a KV1. I just angle my front a little big, and you'll have a hard time penning me.
me and a [del]abrams[/del] tiger ii spawned and shot each other in the mantlets as soon as we spawned Henschel-Porsche: the tank love story coming soon to theaters near you [sp]nobody ever plays along with my spergouts over allchat http://puu.sh/12aE3 :(([/sp]
Nah it always sucked until you got the 107. Now you don't get the 107. Hmmm.
Yes, it now has to deal with the reality of being a tier 5 tank destroy like all the other tier 5 tank destroyers. The 107mm at tier 5 was dumb.

The 107mm at tier 5 was dumb.
Don't get me wrong, I agree with you. 107 was OP and the new 85 still looks good (on paper). What I meant was that the only reason everyone thought it was great fun was because of the final gun. The only response I can make to "it sucks now" is: "it always sucked". It's worse in every way to the tank before it, aside from the final gun. My opinion in this is the same as it was before the patch - only now I don't get shot down for saying it.

The SU-85 doesn't have much more survivability than an open-top TD, why should it get a much inferior gun?
to be honest i had the best results with the 90mm on the S35. good balance of penetration, accuracy, and reload between the 17pdr and 105.
has anyone heard of Friction1957? Im in a platoon with him now and my friend said he was pretty high up in the leaderboards (though not so much anymore). In our first game together a couple people knew him

That's just bullshit. [editline]5th September 2012[/editline] SU-85 should get a honest spotting range of at least 350 or so, cheaper gun which isn't plain awful, and an actually relevant engine upgrade.
any nerf to a russian tank is plenty fine with me. a german tank being easier to grind/better than a russian one? a fucking win in my book.
I only ever played paper US TDs up to the M10 and much more recently the M18, so playing the SU-85B was nothing to me, having played the SU-76 and hating it but actually doing rather well stats wise. Getting the SU-85 was great, it had for its tier better armour, guns and speed. Getting the SU-100 was pretty simple and I'm almost easily done the first 122mm unlock just to say I got the SU-152 researched. In my opinion the SU-85 and SU-100 (52 and 12 battles respectively out of 2586 total) are pretty decent and I can't really hate them any more than the T40 or M10 which I truly detest to shit matchmaking a long time ago.
Fucking Polish, why are they allowed to exist.
Well sorry for being one of them, I can't really do much about the fact that USSR drove us to poverty thus causing all the free stuff to be extremely attracting.

Did you know it actually has much better DPM than anything SU-85 gets does, with same acc as the best gun? I would still use it on SU-85 if I could.
I preferred the 'unique' 85, basically the same dpm but more pen (130). From my experience there was nothing you faced you couldn't kill, and at long range. The SU-76's 57mm seemed to bounce more despite being a tier lower MM. YMMV, especially since the MM is kinder now. [editline]5th September 2012[/editline]
I would still use it on SU-85 if I could.
SU-85 grind would have been a lot easier if it had access to the SU-85B's guns.
kind of tempted to test out the su76/85b since the mm changes.
SU-85B has best stealth value of all vehicles ingame and it gets the same KV-1 57mm which you can get to under 2second reload with rammer. The gun itself is also relatively stealthy when you shoot. Multiple times, I camped a bush with binocs and net, and three enemies went straight for me, but before they could get to me I killed them all with huge DPM.
That's it selling the SU-85. Talk about a fucking waste of time. Considering it's 26,000 XP to the SU-100 in this thing when I just wasted 5,000 on an engine and even with premium I'm getting absolutely nowhere against better armed heavy tanks yeah. Bye bye.
i did the exact same thing, fucking terrible tank. The only thing good about it is that if you even managed to hit a tank with its shit 85mm it'll usually take off like 20% so when the tank inevitably 1 shots you at least you get more than 50xp Forgot about the fact its max view range is 10m so everything can see you at least a minute before you can see them, despite the 'good' camouflage. So glad i sold mine [editline]5th September 2012[/editline]
Well sorry for being one of them, I can't really do much about the fact that USSR drove us to poverty thus causing all the free stuff to be extremely attracting.
poles are fine except half of them seem to think World of Tanks is a chat room and a few of them can't understand english so when you try to do tactics they always just lone wolf it, die and then call the rest of the team noobs.

We finally know what the soviet 85mm uses for ammo.
The commander has killed himself after being covered in high velocity shit.
talk about tankers losing their shit in combat, damn
I bet the soviets are shitting their pants right now
I like this:
but I liked the process of learning where to hit from experience
Can't wait for physics so tanks can't trap TDs anymore, fuck your shit French lights and mediums. Also, how much armour does this mantlet have? [img_thumb]http://puu.sh/12fSH[/img_thumb] That did damage and i'm pretty sure it was the Super Pershing that did it.

If it's Foch then 180mm and you got really unlucky because it went through a tiny hole in the main armor which is 180mm as well.
